Traxxas Rustler brushed on 11.1 Lipo

How to run 11.1 Lipo on a Traxxas with a 550 size Titan 12 turn motor and a XL-1 speed Controler.

I had one of those old school AM recievers and controller, I couldn't use it. It would take off on its own and I couldn't get it to stop. Interference I guess? I switched to the 2.4ghz anyway.

yes it is perfectly safe if you dont believe me look at my vids i got a 11.1v lipo and have been running it in my rustler vxl for almost 1 year now and nothing happened yet but you need to lower the gear ratio for offroading and check you temps often and to be on the safe side you might want too get a fan for the motor

The old xl1 probably didnt have a bec built in for regulating voltage for the servo because it was only ever designed to run 7.2-8.4 which is high but still acceptable for a servo of that size.

Yes, but if memory serves me right, that reciever model should have a bec, I have the same one with no issues, it probably just needs a new servo

no lipos have more power and sometimes more volts. nicd batteries i believe die as you drive but lipos give full power and then suddenly die. lipos are well worth the money

The way to avoid the servo issue is a nitro 6v battery .Holds 4 aa batteries and will give all the lipo power to the motor.

If we are talking about the balance plug on the lypo no you don't change that. That plug is for charging porpoise only, and should plug in to the b6 style charger.

on my 2014 rustler I run a onyx 5000 7.4 V 5000mah lipo battery. it run amazing compared to the stock battery which is a 3000 NiMH battery which I blew up on accident.

Heres an idea. Get rid of the brushed system and get a decent brushless on with higher amp battery. Much more fun.

The BEC in your ESC isn't made to regulate 12.6v from your 3s that's probably why your servo is acting weird.

i didnt know u could run a lipo in a basic xl5 setup. iver got 2 rustlers. one is setup with the basic xl5 titan 12t and the other is running a castel creations brushless system.

lack of power and or traction. mine will pull the front end up while already being @ 30 mph in the snow, aka lots of power minimal traction....just saying still good video. i wondered if you could run 3s on 2s max system. i will put some vids up as soon as i find a camera man

if u remove the red wire from ur reciver wire and run a separate weaker battery for ur servos and u will be fine,the servo cannot handle 11.1 volts

I didnt know that u couldnt run lipos to the end when u dont have lipo low voltage cut off

Yes but the 12t dose not live very long. I've been through about 5 of them

@@Mattg02 have you tried a hobbywing 1060 brushed esc motor and a redcat 19t 550? That combo is 3s compatible.

my mistake being a "new guy", put a 11.1 lipo in new xl-5 brushed traxxas bandit, BIIIG puff of smoke and then the esc was fried..$50 mistake

nope the lipos wont burn up the moter doing wheelies with a brushed moter will burn it up in no time if you went brushless you could do wheelies all day and not hurt a think
