I have the full Max 8 G2 combo on my Sledge…the HW 4278 motor is much stronger than that traxxas 2000kv motor. I’m able to do standing backflips and double backflips off a lil ramp…love it!
@redbanditracing8 күн бұрын
That’s awesome, I will be trying that out soon.

Enjoy you're videos, especially when doing upgrades.youre soldering is very nice,only thing I would suggest when soldering is to hold the wire against the metal on bullets to make sure you have good electrical contact cause solder isn't a good conductor.

I’m so on the fence about getting a sledge. I can’t justify it only because I have the XRT. I plan on my next RC car being the Maxx. I like the 4s category the best. I realize you can run the sledge on 4s. I’m just thinking that if I get the urge to drive something bigger than my 4s rigs, I can just bust out the XRT. But, with that said, knowing me, I’ll eventually end up with a sledge at some point anyway. 🤷🏻♂️😂 Great video, man. 👊🏼

Get the maxx v2 you can't go wrong with that set up but put a better steer servo
@jontoad8 күн бұрын
I went half way between the Maxx v2 and Sledge kinda. I didn't like the chassis slap on the Maxx off every jump so I ended up putting metal axles and the 3.8 belted Sledge tires on my Maxx v2 for ground clearance. it's got the Hobbywing Max 8 g2 combo in it so it can do 4 or 6s, but 6s is just overkill. it rips on 4s with some turbo timing added in. maxx's do need metal bellcranks and and upgraded servo saver though. if you upgrade the servo the stock servo saver is too weak to keep up.
@OGRCFanatic8 күн бұрын
@ I grabbed one yesterday. Was gonna wait until next weekend, but just couldn’t. 😂 I’m not worried about the stock servo. I’m super gentle on my RC cars, I baby them. So I almost never have any issues with any of them breaking or anything. No jumping or skate parks or anything crazy like that. I just bash and blast around my property. But your knowledge and information is still appreciated. 👊🏼

I had 3.8 on my maxx the sledge i picked up had 2 bad tires so i put the 2.8 back on the maxx but im going to get another set of 3.8 for it made a huge difference since they were belted it didnt roll as much @jontoad

Take a look at the kcrc sledge shock towers.. they are a little thicker in the areas that the m2c shock towers bend and are a lot tougher.. definitely a much better front and rear shock tower over all..

Do you plan on upgrading the motor in the future? Awesome video btw. As a new Sledge owner this is now the first RC channel i turn to when I need help.
@redbanditracing9 күн бұрын
Yes definitely just to see the power difference. But the that castle motor should run for a long time.
@gymwhaley9 күн бұрын
Why didn't you go with the max6 g2?
@redbanditracing9 күн бұрын
That system is too much for the Sledge. If you are trying to get a replacement ESC, the Max8 is the one. Same if you were replacing the E-Revo ESC.
@gymwhaley9 күн бұрын
@@redbanditracing I've had both in the sledge. Same size, just can handle more. Esc stays way cooler in the summer.both ran on stock motor. And the same price.
@redbanditracing9 күн бұрын
I know they fit, I don’t plan on over powering the motor or the car. This is also for those looking to choose a direct replacement ESC.

Seen a lot of guys put too much power to their RC and it causes way too many issues. Adding reliability is where it’s at
@gymwhaley9 күн бұрын
Still only running 6s. Headroom. Like I said runs cooler. Would you get the older max8 or tge new one. New one is the old max6. And the sledge is heavy stock. Headroom in the summer is nice. Ran both stock motor, castle 2200, hobbywing 2250. In my eyes for the sledge with the stock weight and whatever motor you want to throw at it. for the price. max6 g2 not trying to be a pain. Just food for thought. Then sledge is close to the weight of 1/7 vehicles. Most 1/8th are alot lighter. And of course the joys of the data log

the yellow connectors are Amass XT90, not EC5 or IC5. why do you cut the wires, they can easily soldered out.

@@KingSlingRC sorry, you are wrong, the yellow connectors are XT90
@VolenBoyadzhiyski7 күн бұрын
Wow, you just swap the best and most popular high-amp connector (the XT-90) with one of the worst (TRX)... And on top of that, the solder connections are far from good. Always try to put enough solder on the connector and on the wire. Then put the wire on top of the solder blob of the connector and push it down with the soldering iron tip. That way the two blobs will fuse themself together and will make a perfect, low resistance joint ;) And these motor connectors are in just too dangerous state - just a milimeter or two away from disaster... Put some heatshrink on them...
@KingSlingRC7 күн бұрын
I have the same setup, no issue. And there is nothing wrong with TRX high output connectors. Always someone that complains, and over soldering
@redbanditracing6 күн бұрын
There is nothing wrong with the high output Traxxas connectors. There are many factors you are forgetting.
