Thanks for clearing up the " Black verses Gray" T-Maxx Transmission modification ! My Local Hobby shop had no idea what I was asking for .Also it's great to see a young man as yourself in the hobby , I'm 74 now and still heavy into RC Monster trucks . I bought one of your Motor mounts off of Ebay and it should be here tomorrow or Saturday ( 10/12/18 ) and I'm anxious to build my first Electric T-Maxx . Jim in California

I've got 3 of your Motor mounts and my review is simply this .The quality is great and the price is appropriate .Wonderful creations and bolts right up easily with no drilling .Uses existing holes in plate .

2:38 what he meant to say was, you will need a servo "to shift it" *into reverse* without replacing parts in the trans. You can only spin these nitro transmissions one way from the factory so, no reverse. Confusing if you are doing the swap. Too bad this guy is no longer around so i figured I'd clarify. Its also worth mentioning that none of the Traxxas transmission parts he mentioned or put on screen do anything to modify the transmissions "one way" internals. If you can't spin the transmission both directions with locked internals, your swap simply wont work. There are options (especially for the Revo spec one) but that needs to be considered for a swap.

Thank you How2RC for two quality Motor mounts. I converted my old 3.3 to electric. I made it into a fun FPV truck with a sensored motor. Guys, even though most of his vids are 4 to 6 years old, his stuff still works well. I got mine of Ebay. His (electric) motor mounts fit perfectly! My 3.3 can now be a First Person View crawler/explorer or track race truck, just a simple gear change and I can change the personality of my truck. The second mount will go into a Classic T-maxx for my wife!

Everyone I’ve seen with conversion said u have to use e maxx transmission . Everyone said that the e maxx trans will hold up in conversion . I’m fixing to convert mine . Just ordered a e maxx transmission for it . We will see how it works .

I brought one of the big motor mount for my tmaxx and it does clear the spur gear how is that when I see your videos and everyone else who supports you and I don't see how to get it right do I need a smaller spur gear

The 5394x kit (as stated in the video) does nothing but remove the "reverse" gears (if equipped). I have the gray trans on my 3.3 and this kit did nothing to make this trans work like a "gearbox". I still had to lock the trans in 2nd gear using my own method. Ultimately buying this kit did nothing for my conversion. If your trans doesn't have reverse, you don't need the 5394x kit. I will post a video showing my conversion soon.

On the 3.3 T-Maxx... i need to do 2 things...lock the 2 gear and buy the foward only 5394x? But how to lock the 2 gear? Also can leave all the nitro transmission and use the brushless system...i will not have reverse, ok..but what about the brakes?

Will a t maxx 2.5 (tra4910... from 2005) with black transmission (72 tooth 32 pitch spur), be able to fit the revo spec 3.3 transmission? Since I have broken my maxx’s transmission (I can’t go forward nor backwards.. it binds and catches bad... I think it’s the drive pin on a shaft... I have a trx 3.3 engine on with resonator pipe and a 3 stage oiled foam filter with wheelie bar) and I cannot easily get parts for it since it’s considered a legacy model...

What about putting the center drive lines from a 3.3 to a 2.5 also is there any difference with the differential can the inners be interchanged

I was just curious if you absolutely need to change out the 2 speed? I have a black 2.5 with the forward only and am not aware of a problem with keeping the 2 speed. Will be using a brushed 770 Titan 16v ESC.

Without doing the Trans you will have to keep a servo to shift into reverse and the mechanical Brakes, if you do the Trans gear swop the ESC does both braking and reverse through the motor !

Hello, Big fan of your videos, very useful information so thank you! Quick question...I have a converted (to brushless) T-maxx 2.5 with black transmission, installed forward only kit and single speed kit. I purchased the 5351x slipper upgrade but it seems that it comes with the original double gear that the spur gear goes onto so it doesn't fit/mesh with the single speed large gear. Any ideas? Have your ever tried this upgrade/set up? Thanks for any help you can provide. Regards

Use the original setup for the Spur gear. I don't use a slipper.

Ok, you're right they don't, or are not supposed to...in any event I managed to get it to work by simply removing the roll pins and and switching the gear from the original shaft to the new slipper upgrade... Ready for lift off!!
