Picked mine up Monday and got it built :) Although that cross pin @4:39 would absolutely not go in. Good thing I had a 2 speed laying around. I'll have to revisit the single speed box and see if I can get that pin in. It's almost like the shaft was drilled in the wrong spot.

Does the pin go in fine with the shaft off the assembly? Is it just the clearance of the hole after you have the shaft assembled? I'd check to make sure all the bearings are pressed in all the way, etc. It's a tight fit. You can see from the video I had to use pliers in order to hold the pin and put it through. I'd check to make there's nothing preventing the hole from getting enough clearance though.

Also check to see if the gears line up properly in that housing. Maybe the spacer on that shaft could possibly be too long preventing the gear from sitting down on the pin?

@@RevolutionX Yeah I reseated the bearings and checked fitment outside the case. Everything fits well. Just seems the hole is a bit too close to the plastic for some reason. I got impatient and gave up since I had the extra trans. I'll give it another look soon :)

@@RevolutionX So just an update for you. It only took 5 more times of looking at it to realize I had the WRONG gear on the shaft. It's amazing how easy it goes together when you assemble it correctly :)

can you make a video of how to make a 2 speed transmission on your trx4 sport kit and make it a bit slower and closer to the transmission so I can see? there is a 2 speed transmission conversion kit from traxxas but there is no instruction so you have to figure it out how its done or do a research

While I would love to do it, unfortunately I don't currently have any plans to add 2-speed to the TRX4 sport at the moment.. Maybe a project for the future!

What happens if you don’t use the black sleeve over one of the shafts?

I really don't remember what goes on in this transmission, but from what I can guess at without digging into it again, is that the black sleeves are probably spacers to ensure that the gears don't move around. I can't say for sure unless I dig into it and remember what goes on in there though.

does it fit in a normal trx4? I have a trx4 defender and do not need a second gear

At the time I got this, the kit was around $299 which was on par with the kit offerings of other manufacturers. The RTRs were really expensive for sure.
