I have had it since the day they came out and have about 75 hours of run time on it and it hasn't broken anything. The body side holes have worn out and I had to strengthen them, but otherwise it works great. I don't do big drops or crazy jumps; that is the highway to blowing money and spending time repairing instead of running for ANY RC car. I also only run 4S. It is plenty fast. 6S is another way to blow money and spend time on the bench repairing instead of running. I never feel the need to go 50 mph and the acceleration for offroad use is TOTALLY unnecessary because you simply can't put the power down without losing traction even with a 4S.

Jay Bee cheers bro a few people have said going 4s is the way forward, but it’s annoying stating it can go 6s, but it starts breaking I haven’t found that with my E-Revo and X-Maxx. Am finding things breaking on speed runs with this thing how the hell I broke a bulkhead on a speed run last time I don’t know 🤷🏼‍♂️

I just bought mine and I have been paying close attention to the various failures of parts. I have seen some of the causes of failures and those were facepalms to say the least. I plan on using the truck for which it was designed for. Running it on asphalt, concrete, grass and skate parks are not what the UDR is designed to run on. Which I have seen many doing this with it. 4s batteries also seem to be favored over the dual 3s. I do recommend upgrading the steering servo to a Traxxas 400. Know why mechanics exist? To fix the mistakes of the engineers. Keep that in mind. I am sure I will get lots of runs on this truck.

Spanky Happy nah mate I didn’t even have luck with it on areas you mentioned above kept breaking on speed runs I somehow managed to break a brand new front bulkhead. I I personally like the 6S which is is supposedly designed for but I went down to 4S and some things where happing. So much so I ended up trading it for a XO-1

too much power go down to 4s everybody wants to put the biggest baddest battery and go 100 miles an hour they are not made too jump so high everybody thinks you can jump this thing 10 ft. high it dont work that way it sounds like your abusing it if you bought a full size truck and abused it that way of coarse its goona break

But if its stated on the box it can do 6S I want 6S no other RC's I have owned don't break at the at the rated battery power advertised. Yes I will admit I have sent it on some occasions, but quickly realised its not that type of car, but it still breaks on speed runs. Yes your right I wouldn't do 70ft jumps in a full scale truck, but its an RC other manufacturers manage to make there RC's take the hits. The X-Maxx for example my favorite RC I own that take an insane amount of abuse and jumps.

@@BlueDroneBlues Am not comparing it to an E-Revo, if anything I compared it to a Losi SBR. Am only stating what happened withmine and its rubbish! An off-road car that can't go off road. I use to be Traxxas biased and defend them even with their rubbish shocks, I was just say get the alloy ones, but this takes the biscuit! Tamiya off road car's are not meant to do jumps and stuff, but you do anyway and the don't break as half as much. You said yourself you’re sick of people slating it, it’s because they're not wrong. I understand everything has a breaking point, but this breaks too easily! As I have already mentioned I put in a brand-new bulkhead from a previous bash of which I DON'T do anymore because it breaks too easily, but then it broke again on a speed run! Not only that it broke the rear drive shaft! How can a bulkhead break on a speed run!? I express my frustration and people are defending it! Saying don't use it on 6S, why should I when it states its rated for it? Why do the training arms bends? Oh, you get a spare drive shaft with it what you are complaining about? The steering servo breaks straight away. I have never known an RTR car whereby is its essential to upgrade out the box. Yes, I have bashed it, but am now talking from speed runs point of view.

Every time i run mine on 6s i break a part..usually a trailing arm. I have yet to break anything on 4s on the dirt race track. It replecates the trophy truck tracks. Low jumps is the key

Rob Lucas I haven’t tried it on 4s yet once she’s fixed I’ll give 4S ago, yup she’s broke again brand new bulkhead and rear drive shaft broken on a speed run! I'm not doubting your mishaps with the UDR. Ive had mine since march 2018. Lots of running, modest bashing, many roll overs(tumbling)... NOTHING broke thus far. The first item I'll eventually have to repair/replace will be the front bumper/skid plate. As it landed on it's nose a few times... 😆 other than that NOTHING else to complain about. Great RC, offers great scale and great fun. IMHO.

Its not meant for bashing, it’s a scale model, therefore treat it like a scale model. Stick to what trophy trucks are meant to do, uneven terrain and small jumps at high speeds. No other Traxxas vehicle can do what the UDR can do, then again no other Traxxas vehicle is meant for what the UDR is meant to do and the same Vice versa. Although I do agree that the servo and trailing arms suck, no doubt about it.

TheAmazingKelp I was comparing it too much the the Losi Super Baja Rey I was expecting too much from her, but even speed runs stuff was breaking like the plastic centre drive shaft. I know she isn’t a thought cookie and is all about looks that’s why I haven’t got rid of her and got a SBJ. I manly use her for sand and snow uses now.

Steve Moon totally agree! I have been put off Traxxas now due to this model. I invested over £1000 in the UDR with mods and batteries etc and it’s forever breaking. What’s more annoying is I done my research and I knew it was crap and should of got the Super Baja Rey, but at the time my model shop who I buy from didn’t stock Losi (they do now thus buying the DBXLe). I even checked the Horizon Hobby website and they didn’t seem to stock much either. So I played the safe option of getting spare on demand without worry, but I didn’t think I’ll be needing to buy spares this often. 😫

Yup I love my traxxas RC cars got defender trx4 within 4 months replaced 3 servos and reciever box broke from bumper mount which I will take responsibility for but I strip lean it weakly grease everything dont matter what u do when you buy a traxxas expect pay half price again just to keep it going like I do my real defender lol

Can't hold hard throttle when landing off a jump or wrecking and rolling cuz it'll snap shafts a lot too.. and watch for rocks in the inside of the wheel cuz they get pinched against the caliper..

Firdaus Elis Majid I only drive fast now because of the breakers, but it still breaks that’s on 6s tho and this thing is flip happy so even if you don’t jump it you can still break it if you flip this at speed! Honestly if I had the chose again I would go for a Super Rock Rey, but as I mentioned a few people have these and love them and despite the consent breakages they still stand by them and will argue it’s brilliant. I tell it as it is it’s brilliant to look at and drive slow but rubbish at everything else haha that’s what I have got from mine. Am slashing of Traxxas as a whole just this truck I love my E-Revo and my X-Maxx is currently my favourite truck.

If you want it your going to get it because that’s what happened with me I actually done a UDR vs Super Baja Rey and what one to get and the SBR dominated the poll and the reason I won’t for the UDR in the end was the lack of spare parts for the SBR haha. So even with advice telling me not to get it I got it anyway 😂

So far I’ve had good luck with my UDR knock on wood 😂 only thing I’ve switched was the rear trailing arms from plastic to aluminum, they didn’t break but changed them before it did, I also have a spare servo just cus I’ve heard of the stock one has had problems. I agree it’s no Xmaxx but it’s not designed to be, it’s got its own kind of running style I guess u could say

This is supposed to be a 🏆 🚚! It isn't really meant to be a basher 🚚. It was more about details and performance behaving like a real vehicle. You want a basher get the Revo 2.0 or the new Traxxas Rustler 4x4 brushless 🚚! I know it likes to roll more then others trucks I have. You learn quickly what it can do and what it cannot do! Saint Kenny mine breaks on 6S with very light jump. At the time it was this and the Losi SBR and the SBR took an absolute beating. I understand it’s a detailed truck that doesn’t excuse the absolute poor build quality. Am sick of people defending it, it’s build quality is rubbish, servos break more less out the box and trailing arms bending, centre drive shafts braking, but to name a few. Keep in mind these are problems of speed runs am excluding the bashing.

Shit I think just these RC’s just break constantly. I got a bandit for basically nothing because the previous owner melted the wires somehow. New ESC and Motor and probably 1 out of every 3 runs I break something. Hell I don’t even run it nearly as hard as I see people on KZbin run their rustlers.

Ordinary_dudes1 installing a diff to reduce flipping tho would be a huge benefit to those such as myself where they don’t have an area of dirt to play in. Grass is off road and it’s absolutely rubbish on it! A diff will make it more enjoyable. When I have had it on dirt it was amazing as I mentioned, but that was on one rare occasion the area was miles away from where I live.

@@BeardedRC I've had the punch setting to max for a while now with 300k centre diff oil and it's a drift machine with no avc obviously or it sticks like glue 😁🤣 you have to use the brakes to turn in fast like a normal car i.e. shift the weight not necessarily slow down 😁 think that's why some people complain about the turning circle

@@BeardedRC That's ok, my RC plans are on hold at the moment anyway. I really like the suspension physics of the UDR though, but it almost seems to be made to break on purpose. But the slash seems more "toy-like" too, so i'm kinda stuck inbetween. I might just end up doing the will of the evil corporations and calculate with buying upgrades for the UDR, but from other brands than traxxas like the alloy rear arms etc. This hobby is a bit of a rabbit hole it seems..

Sommer75 yes by far this is the most realistic on the market but if your looking at the slash as well you might want to look into a different brand. The new Losi Super Rock Rey looks and absolute beast with the reassurance of toughness tho your not getting that realistic look if am being honest you can’t really see the realistic look unless you watch the footage back in slow motion it’s took quick to notice to the eye in real time, if that makes any sense haha that’s why Traxxas always do slow motion action 😂

Scale truck ! It never was a basher! No other truck will run as smooth! Bashers have over size wheels and can sertenly correct it self in the air so you don't nose dive!!! Real size UDR lofton truck! If one was to go at great speed an turn to drift it will always flip! Udr geometry, center of gravity is identical to the life size! Watch some real life ones messing around streets not in the real race event ! Just them tearing the streets , watch how the truck moves, how it dips before sliding a corner! Or over bumps !! My UDR would beat your xmax on a sc track any day :) Check out Richard duperbash channel out , he,s got exelent high air correction ( arma truck! _ bad spelling!!!!

Normandy Kush I understand they went for looks, but when driveshafts are failing on speed runs it’s annoying and bad in there behalf. I would consider all there off road models as bashers I couldn’t think of one person in the RC community not to do jumps with one of there off road RC’s. If I knew this couldn’t do slight jumps without something breaking I would of got the XO-1. I have had many people defend Traxxas, but they mess up on this one big time they could of made this stronger, proof is in the additional up grades and this is coming from a Traxxas fan! Am not out to dis Traxxas and I wish I didn’t have to do this video am only given my thoughts on what I have experienced with my UDR. Out of all the models I own Traxxas is my go to model, there the ones I own most of. So you can see when I got this I was disappointed specially when I paid £969+ ($1,242.45+)

I'm not a big fan a text but I do agree with hot drive shaft!being by a motor and it being in side!!! The breaks ! The 2 nuts under the door is my most hated! Ther has the most thinest lexan! A car ran over the (front end) of mine with its two wheels at 6mph on a corner:(,,drives fine:) still but just had to change the cage it bent by 1cm, it's got flex!!! Xmax no chance wheels would buckle!! On utube if see xmax full speed in to a wall and it's got mad flex too ! Back wheel got close to the middle of truck ! Just the pinion came away from spur gear!! Udr would have no chance front sway Mel and plastic shaft would be the first go! Bumper ect!

@@gonzodetroitify I like both brands. I have both the E-Revo and Kraton, I bash the Kraton harder because I think it takes more of a beating. But personally the X-Maxx remains my favorite 💪🏼🔥

STEVO D 313 haha yeah am not treating her right so she’s doin the same back. I took her out yesterday with the mods on broke a bumper, front driveshaft and the battery plate come off (the metal reinforced one I put on) but it took way more of a beating before it failed so I can’t complain about that. 💪🏼🔥
