Lol, pile of ball bearings fall out of your motor, yeah that must be the issue! :) I was just doing some routine maintenance and it occurred to me that eventually I'd probably have to do this to my VXL (although it's still pretty new) but I guess it's always been a black (blue?) box of power to me. Interesting to see how easy it actually looks.

Yeah pretty much everyone I know has had to do it if you have had your truck for a while. It was pretty easy to do though!

I followed your view and it helped me tremendously!! Thank you!! But I’m having trouble when putting the cap with the bearing back on. The rotor seems to be in as far as it can go. But the cap won’t go in all the way so I can’t put that screws back on. Any help or advice is appreciated. Thank you!!

Are you absolutely sure that you got the entire ball bearing out of the back of motor can? My ball bearing fell apart and there was still a piece of it stuck at the end of the motor can. Try that.

You kind of sound like "that dude in blue". Great video, thinking this is my issue with my mini e revo that been parked for a couple years. Looked at it today and the motor shaft does not spin very easy, lots of resistance.

you probably won’t see this but what if the kevlar wrapped around the magnets gets shredded up? i ripped the rest of it off and now it’s just bare magnets is it safe to run the motor without it the wrap? will the magnets fly off and ruin the motor

Ok I have a question ,my slash vxl was running great,I put it up for about 3 months , get it out out battery in and when I give it throttle to go it makes a weird gunt/buzz sound and wont move either way. And when you pull the trigger the wires and motor gets hot?the motor isn't very old and I can roll it and no noise whatsoever out of motor,,the shaft is tight and free spins with no noise? Help?! 🤔

Have you checked your pinion and spur gears? They might be stripped

Great video but....... You assembled it wrong.. the spacer should be on the top like it was originally. the instructions say you put it on the bottom end of the shaft on the old motor model..

I can't find the answer to my question anywhere. I actually have the opposite "problem". My Traxxas 3500kv seems to spin too freely in my opinion. There is almost no resistance. There is play in the bearings but I don't know if it's worth rebuilding or if it's worn out. It is the 2 pole motor if that makes a difference. Is it normal to spin that freely?

That's the first time I've heard that issue. In regards to a motor spinning too freely. Does the motor run well? If so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

@@GReviewz I know it's a weird issue but I didn't know if this was a sign that the motor was worn out, or if a brushless motor can wear out aside from bearings. I'm just used to motors having some sort of resistance with the feeling of "flat spots" because of the magnets. I got the motor used in a parts car so I don't know how it runs. I guess I'll just throw some bearings in it and give it a shot.

Even the brushless motor has resistance when you turn it over. So keep that in mind.

I think the same thing happened to mine too when you press the throttle the engine will rev up but won’t spin so I ended up taking it apart and found out the shaft actually spins loose inside of the magnet thing that makes the motor spin I don’t know if I can buy that individual part anywhere though I might just have to get a whole new motor

Small screwdriver and a hammer. You can bang it out from the hole where the shaft comes out of the motor.

Bro I HATE how the outer race of the ball bearing gets stuck, they are almost impossible to remove like that, so checking on your motor is a MUST if you want to make it easier for yourself.

I stuck the motor in some ice for a couple of minutes and that allowed me to easily remove the outer race. Maybe I just got lucky but you could try that next time.

I was wondering how to you get the part of the berring out that was stuck in, you skip the part, and right now that is the part that is stuck

Great question... so i just used a rubber mallet and an allen key. Within a few taps, the last piece of the bearing came right out. Hope that helps :)

This is exactly where I was stuck at. For me I sprayed it down lubricated so I could differentiate bearing and motor color (silver and blue) then used a small flat head and a rubber mallet and hammered right between the spacing where bearing sits secured. Rotated motor to hit different angles of remaining bearing till I managed to knock it out. As you can see in video after he mentioned rubber mallet his motor has slight scratches (blue color removed) from that opening. Video helped me thanks 👍.

No... the brushless motors have the 3rd wire. Brushed only have 2.

Yes, most do over time. Probably from water or snow. Rust out the bearings.

@@GReviewz ahh makes sence I live in Vancouver bc and it allways rains and we just had owe snow fall and was ripping in the snow but I allways blow it off with the air compressor and done leave it wet

@@kurtiscloutier5686 Understoood. 1 tip for you, if you take off the plastic end cap on the motor, that will help you blow off any water or moisture at least on one end of the motor. Dont forget to put it back on! :) hope that helps.

Dude you should have cleaned everything. That rotor was covered in metal shavings from the bearing being shot.

Try the repair kit. You'd be surprised how resilient those motors are.
