Chassis slap is what stops things from breaking , the entire length of the chassis takes the impact force , that's why buggies are notoriously durable , there chassis always hit the ground.
@GeddyRC3 жыл бұрын
I figured as much, that chassis is practically nuke-proof. Not to mention, if it hits the ground after going through the entire stroke of the suspension (and the tires), the impact is already greatly reduced.

3:01 Congratulations man, you are one of the rarities of youtube that makes a correct Rebound in the shocks. I am far from being an expert, I barely started, but from what I understand of the shocks, it is that his reboud will correspond exactly when you leave the shaft when you tighten the lid. This is because that will be the zero pressure point, since once you go up or down you will be changing the internal pressure. The springs help the bar to descend, but it is part of the engineering to use air pressure as a way of absorbing impact. At least that's what I understood by analyzing and thinking. Do you agree? My driving style is to walk straight and jump at an average height of two meters. I don't care about curves, turnings. For me, I don't think it is mandatory that such a cart is capable of making sharp turns at 60mph. I am currently using and still testing a 12,500 CTS silicone oil. Yes, 12,500. It is about 10% thicker than honey.

Yeah its the air inside that little piece that is compressing when the shock goes in. I tend to set my RC's up for drving more than landing. I only land 1% of the time. Chassis slap isnt that big of an issue.
@wise--men3 жыл бұрын
@@outsourcedrc Amazing!!! But I already know that I will run the risk of breaking pieces, with my stiffer shocks. If it breaks, I really want to know where the weak points are, so I can exchange them for metal parts.

The best video I've seen so far on KZbin showing a decent working suspension set up and the way to add shock oil. I do not have the wide kit but I really don't like the 30wt in the shocks. It is slapping like crazy. I ordered 50wt. Not sure how that is going to react with stock arms but I need to try something. My chassis is taking a beating with the 30wt. I'm only jumping 3 or 4 ft high. When I press down on the rear of my Maxx it acts like there's no damping at all. Hopefully the 50wt will help. Great video:-)

The slower rebound is from the heavier oil not the springs. The new springs that are included are a heavier spring because the arms being longer have more leverage.

One thing I never hear anyone point out is how sharp the Maxx turns when they criticize how easy it rolls over. If the E-Revo turned as sharp as the Maxx it would be easier to roll too. The revo turns decent but as soon as you add power the turning radius increases a lot where the Maxx does not.

It lands like it’s on a pillow. I also put 1million weight diff in the rear, and half million weight in the front diff. Then I put on Trencher HP 3.8" All Terrain BELTED Tires. I took it out for five minutes and broke the rear plastic junk driveshafts. Steel replacements on the way. But it drives like an X Maxx now.. What a beast... Eh? What do you mean by the stock setup being too heavy? The wide kit comes with STIFFER springs for the rear (the rear springs are already stiffer than the front as stock) so you put the stock REAR springs on the front as per the instructions... Great vid! Really enjoy watching them. Not sure why Traxxas, if they already know you will need this kid to keep your MAXX stable, doesn’t include this kit or change the MAXX to this configuration... I understand from a marketing and revenue perspective this may look like a fantastic idea, but to me it would be very annoying to buy something you know you have to upgrade when unboxing just to be able to drive is in a normal way. So when you compare price with something else.. you actually have to add the price of the wide kit. Have you provided feedback to Traxxas on this and if so what was their reaction? It just justifies the price for the HOSS (even if it’s bit on the high side) when comparing to the MAXX in this configuration.

@outsourcedrc4 жыл бұрын
Its not low on oil. The shaft of the shock takes up space. You push the shock rod up half way so that it pushes out enough oil to make room for the shock. That little hole in the cap where the oil came out at? thats what its for. Thats how you bleed the shock.
