Hey! Thanks for your comment. I appreciate it. The tools I use are just the Amazon tools. They do wear out but I just buy them again after about a year or so

this is awesome man I was just thinking about doing this! I subbed and will be watching every video! you mind posting links to all the parts you buy as you go and keep tabs on the total price of the build? I'm super curious if it's any less expensive or about the same price as opposed to just buying a box xmaxx! great video! looking forward to the rest of them!
@siblingsrc3 жыл бұрын
Yes of course! I will go and edit the video description tonight and get those links posted. I also have a spreadsheet finished with prices. It’s honestly about the same. I’d say it’s a tiny bit more but I mean you get upgrades right off the bat. I wanted to do it this way so I don’t have to buy the whole car and then spend a bunch more money on upgrades ya know?
@siblingsrc3 жыл бұрын
If you want you can dm me on my Instagram and ask for the spreadsheet of the total price and what I used to build it

@@siblingsrc oh yea absolutely and if you're like me and can't afford or don't want to drop a $1000+ all at once you can slowly build it as you can afford it...that was my thought process anyway lol easier to hide 12 $100 purchases than 1 $1200 lol I normally am like you and include my wife but I just bought a maxx 🤦♂️🤷♂️🤣
@siblingsrc3 жыл бұрын
Lollll yeaaaaaa my wife is really strict on how I spend my rc budget. But yeah when you’re living that poor college life you have to be on a budget haha

@@siblingsrc lol well at least yall seem to like it together, mine just looks at me and shakes her head. I honestly thought she was gonna have a heart attack when she saw how much my maxx was 🤣 especially because I didn't really tell her since I'm just getting back into the hobby that I'd need a batt and a charger 🤦♂️🤷♂️ lol ooops

I plan to do this too. Wanted to do an 8S Kraton but I think the Maxx is better. I will use upgrades on all possible occassions. Did you go with used parts?
@siblingsrc3 жыл бұрын
Most parts I got new. I believe the only used part was one pair of shocks

Awesome idea buddy! I wanted to start from scratch as well to build with my sons. Where can I find a kit or single parts to start from? Keep up the great work!
@siblingsrc3 жыл бұрын
Great question! I’ve been getting a lot of my parts from Jennys RC but they’ve been out of stock so mainly Hobbytown or Ebay

@@siblingsrc Thank you for the prompt reply! Do you have a parts list or perhaps they're found in the Xmaxx manual - Correct?

Was it cheaper to build it? Or is it cheaper just to straight up buy it? Cause if it is cheaper to build it. I wish I would of known earlier lol. Nice video btw though 👌
@siblingsrc3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your support! In a way it’s cheaper. Because since I’m buying upgrades right off the bat it’ll be wayyy cheaper than buying the whole car and then upgrading. I made a spreadsheet with all the parts I bought. It’s a little more than buying the truck RTR with the battery kit but you get what you want all brand new🤷🏽♂️

Nice. If traxxas is to stubborn to release a kit or roller version why not build your own

Heck yeah dude! I’ve always liked building rigs from scratch cause it helps me understand the truck a lot more and how it’s put together. Plus I’m getting all the upgrades right off the bat🤷🏽♂️

was building this hard at all?
@siblingsrc Жыл бұрын
Honestly it was pretty easy. I did have a lot of previous experience when I had one a while ago so I actually was able to build it from memory. But they do have the exploded views which would help a lot when it comes to screw sizes
@glenncarlson31613 жыл бұрын
What did he actually build? An Xmaxx from scratch? I don't understand what is different that he did
@siblingsrc3 жыл бұрын
Glad you asked! Yes I built an Xmaxx starting with the chassis and bought every part over time until it was completed. I have one more video to publish. But it is just about done
@glenncarlson31613 жыл бұрын
So u used stock parts? How is it better? I'm just curious not trying to be rude.
@siblingsrc3 жыл бұрын
No worries! I used a few upgrade parts so I would have them right off the bat. I used the RPM rear hubs, max5 combo, standard sized servo upgrade, proline trenchers, proline body, B&M racing belt drive kit and rpm roof skids. You’ll see as you watch the videos but that’s basically what I’ve done to the Xmaxx
@glenncarlson31613 жыл бұрын
Thanks
@siblingsrc3 жыл бұрын
No problem! If you’re curious about prices. My build with batteries and charger was about $1600. An RTR with batteries and charger is about $1400(without taxes)
@mopar25133 жыл бұрын
U guys know it cost more to build one from scratch.. then to just buy one flat out 😑
@siblingsrc3 жыл бұрын
We did some research, finding the right deals and with a LOT of patience. We’ve been able to get the price to be pretty much the same as buying an xmaxx RTR with the battery completer pack. It might be like 100 bucks more but you’re getting the upgrades and mods that you want right off the bat which is great!
