I almost bought this truck when I walked into my hobby shop as it was on display right when it first released. 1000 bucks is a crazy price given the weaknesses you point out on the truck, one of the reasons why I still have not gotten a traxxas RC. I know all RCs have weaknesses, nothing is 100% bulletproof, but I truly think there are better options for less. I was so close to getting this truck, it looked amazing in the hobby shop, but I said, let me see a few vids first before plunking that kinda cash down, glad I did.

I would love to know what you think is better to be honest. I have the kraton 8s, outcast 8s, and dbxl. XRT is my only traxxas and it has been amazing for me. I don't take the electronics into consideration though as I'm definitely the type to upgrade everything right out of the box. Because I do that though I'm able to sell the stock traxxas stuff and make back some coins.

Great informative video Jason my man, I once looked into an XRT before i got my 2nd X-Maxx used in a trade although my new to me X-Maxx has been an expensive lesson on why you have to be very careful with trade for used RC's. I know you don't have your XRT and maybe your X-Maxx anymore but i still watch the older videos to figure out if i want to build an X-Maxx similar to your old one someday. Again great video as always.

Nice review! tbh we have 2 XRT and I just ordered a 2nd one for myself. We never even tried the stock electronics together. Tried the motor for a pack or two but it just seems so much better to get the upgrade out of the way asap. Especially if you have other rigs that have upgraded electronics. Once you see the difference it's hard to unsee it 🤣

I wouldn't necessarily say they force you to change your electronics. I see a lot of guys using the stock electronics who are not dissatisfied.

The front bulkhead you need to call to order its a 7720x the part that's on the parts list is for the xmaxx

I like this set up going to run the G2 spectrums and didn’t want to cut the old wires for IC5

I'm looking for a 1/5 scale truck. Would you say buy the Traxxas xrt or rather buy the Arrma Kraton 1/5 scale. What would you say? Thanks.

Too many upgrades needed just to simply bash which equals alot of cash$$. Get a XMaxx or Arrma true EXB 1/5 scale my opinion that’s all no upgrades needed no VXL-8s to be changed, no wing support to be bought, to glass gears, no bell rank problem, no bulk head problems. don’t have too buy a special mount$$ to put bigger motor! And no street tires to worry about. I think when Traxxas and that’s if? They make a V2 it will be better. But thinking about it that VXL-8s has been around at least 7-9 years with same issue from fire to a let down. Arrma listens Traxxas I think is Deaf!!or don’t care from that lawsuit of billions

Kratons break all the time, i just switched from the Kraton to the XRT, way better truck

Typical Traxxas junk - How can anyone justify paying $2000AUD for a plastic toy truck and then needing to shell out another $300+ for a new ESC. The truck and/or ESC should be recalled if it is unfit for purpose. Throwing money at these things to bring them up to scratch is laughable!
