Song: Florence and the Machine - Cosmic Love
On February 26, 2012 the life of (un-armed) 17 year old, Trayvon Martin, was stolen. While walking at night in the community, a neighborhood watchman by the name of George Zimmerman, saw him as a threat. Trayvon's only weapon, a bag of Skittles and a hoodie. Though Zimmerman defended shooting the teenager to death, due to self- defense.
This story has become nationwide news, because Zimmerman is still FREE! How? Because Florida's Stand-your-ground law states that a person may use force in self-defense when there is reasonable belief of a threat, without an obligation to retreat first. In some cases, a person may use deadly force in public areas without a duty to retreat.
Zimmerman is still on trail for Trayvon's death, BUT how can it be self-defense when during the 911 call, the cop clearly instructed Zimmerman to NOT go after the teenager? George initiated EVERYTHING. So how is it self-defense again???

I am searching through a bunch of dances to this song for the past half an hour, and I have to say this one was the most beautiful. It is nothing like the others which consist of soft hands and flexibility. This one is unique, as it is rough, raw, and almost violent the way these girls move.

Perfect song choice, the choreography really gives the emotion of the whole thing, and the message was clear. I especially loved the symbolism that the dancers did, wearing the hoodies. This is magnificent.

I'm not saying that the message they're transmitting isn't important or that I'm against or in favour of it, cause I wasn't there to tell who was the real victimizer (or however you want to call it). But Trayvon was just a person, no one can blame the dancers for feeling sorry about his death or for trying to make a tribute for him...

*__For every person , who says they don't know who Trayvon Martin is..__* ; Trayvon Martin is a "Black Teenager" who was walking back from the store , On his way back a Man saw him and called the Cops just because He was wearing a "Hoodie" & he looked like he was Up 2 no Good .. That man followed Trayvon. The last person Trayvon had talk to was with his Gf who he was on the phone with while the man was following Him . The Man Killed Trayvon. *Rascism* R.I.P Trayvon Martin

If a guy dressed up the way Zimmerman was stalked you, followed you, and then confronted you aggressively and probably physically, what would be your reaction? You would defend yourself physically.
@vballgrl115
@vballgrl115 12 жыл бұрын
At that point Zimmerman was still following Martin, not going for a casual stroll through the neighborhood. Zimmerman may have called for help, but I'm sure as hell positive Martin did, too. I'm not glorifying Trayvon's violence. I'm standing up to my beliefs. Being half black, this case really hits me. I have a younger brother the same age as Martin, what if this had happened to him? I suggest that YOU shouldn't glorify Zimmerman's violence. Your username says enough about your personality...

BS. Zimmerman was told by police not to follow Trayvon but he did anyway. That's where it all started. If he hadn't followed him, the outcome of the event probably would have been different. People can dance for George all they want, it'd be stupid & ridiculous considering the fact that he's a criminal. George had options, Trayvon didn't. This tribute is truly remarkable. End of discussion.

Then wouldn't that make him partially black? Ya, do the math, something isn't right. And I've never heard that his grandfather is black, so I'm not sure what source you got that from. He's a racist criminal, & deserves to be going through what he's going through. And that's my opinion. Hate it & disagree with it all you want, I will always believe that what happened that night could have been avoided. And more importantly, I will ALWAYS stand up to my beliefs.
