At 7:19, Nonito throws a right cross and he is about to follow up with a left uppercut. I like Nonito, but I can't deny, watching him face MOST of his opponents, he looks like a physically larger dude in the ring compared to them. He knows how to rehydrate well. Not dramatically big, but big enough. I can almost say that all of his big wins, he outsized his opponent a decent amount. That's not hating on the man cause I love watching his fights. Heck, Pacquaio was nearly the opposite. When Pac moved up to WW, he was nearly the smaller guy against all his opponents and still managed to pull out the W.

Its a unorthodox technique. Contrary to common sense it is actually very practical as it lessens the impact of the opponents punches by a decent amount. Popular examples apart from vargas is 8 weight division champ Pacquaio, undisputed champ Inoue and high guard master Winky Wright.

Particularly against someone like Donaire, that is gonna get noticed and he'll step in and crack you for it...and that's exactly what happens, repeatedly.
