Reasonable? WTF?! 🤦 I went through everything and priced it out and it will cost over $800, probably closer to $900 to get qualified and pay for all the BS! That's NOT reasonable at all. AND this is BEFORE SB2 goes into effect next year! The variables are due to ammunition cost and having to train with the CCW instructor AND the qualifications with the local Sheriff. And to top it all off, my county is delaying everything so that it will drag out until next year when SB2 goes into effect, then they can start charging more and denying people for not meeting the 16 hr training requirements. Once those go into effect, the costs will DOUBLE for the CCW training. The instructor will be training half the amount of students in the same time period, so they will have to double the costs to make up for it.

Many of these are valid points that will certainly end up back in court. Two key things we learned in CA CCW training this year: 1) the weapon is always well-concealed unless it is to be fired, and only in a felony level self-defense situation; and 2) any shooting by a CCW carrier will be in court the next day regardless of location and justification and you will be sued. The AG and DA's are all waiting for bad shootings to use to attack and further weaken this permit. Each of us are representing all of us - so be smart and stay trained.

Early next year I have to renew my California CCW that presently costs me about $1,000 a year. The Sheriff's fees are very reasonable but with the Verboten Areas and all the added cost for the new renewal requirements. I'm beginning to wonder if I will renew.

Damn! Here in WI it's less than $50! I just purchased a Sif Sauer P365X Macro and a Canik TP9SFX. As I do research, I find out that NEITHER of these handguns is legal in California! It's unfortunate that there are people that don't take responsibility and get proper training, but the government has no right to infringe on our god given right to protect ourselves. I just read SB2 which Governor Newsom just signed into law. I am appalled by this new law. It effectively takes away my right as a law abiding gun owner and a CCW permit holded to carry a gun in California. How dare The State of California make a law telling me that my church must post a sign to make it legal for me to exercise my 2nd Amendment rights in my own church. Governor Newsom and the State of California have once again overstepped their authority with SB2. SB2 is shamefull. We the people have the right to keep and bear arms and our California State government is trying to take that right away from us. This is unacceptable! My family and I have lived in California for over 55 years. We have witnessed and continue to witness the moral decline of our state, Many of our government leaders would rather lower our comunity standards, in order to get elected, than stand up for what is actually right. This is unacceptable! After reading SB2, I have joined the NRA and other groups to actively oppose Governor Newsom and his unconstitional and immoral laws. I will not be voting for Governor Newsom in the future and I will now be activly opposing him. Thank goodness we have the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights that protect our precious freedoms from laws like SB2 and politicians like Governor Newsom. Governor Newsom has lost my vote and my support because of SB2! "The rights of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

If you want an answer to your specific question. The answer is NO, it’s not legal in Ca to drive around with a firearm. Never was legal in recent history. It must be locked in your trunk, or compartment, separate from ammunition.

I think it’s time to leave California. It’s just gotten out of hand in terms of being anti gun. I once saw Governor Newsom at Neiman Marcus. He had over a dozen CHP Officers protecting him. So if California Tax payers have to pay for his armed security detail, then I propose a bill, to take his security detail away from him. That way he will have to get a CCW permit and see how difficult it is to deal with SB2.
