transquito is one of those odd bots that could fit into any ""horror"" setup for transformers. 2-and-a-half mode, parts that splits to reveal weapons and eyes, sour expression, mouthblaster. hell, with the return of beastformers, he could get a full new role!

This figure is hilarious because the original is made of gold plastic yet does not have gold plastic syndrome, yet his Japanese repaint, which has him as turquoise, has gold plastic syndrome, despite not having any gold plastic itself.

I was one of those weird kids who actually liked this toy, and as infamous as it is, I think Transquito is better than most people typically give him credit for. Even today, I find there's something strangely charming about his decidedly ugly design, the way he literally vomits out his missile to attack, and the fact that he even has a third antlion mode (that being the one with the huge pincers for anyone wondering) just for food measure. I've always had a soft spot for this toy, so I'm glad to see it getting at least a little bit more love

This is one mosquito that certainly doesn’t suck! He does contribute to the sadness and misery of the world by unwillingly transmitting viruses that effect the immune system of people, however, which is pretty bad.

I grew up in the middlenof nowhere Louisiana and always wanted an action figure of a Mosquito. While in college during the 90's, I bought EVERY Beast Wars Transformers. Transquito was the first figure of a life size Louisiana Mosquito I ever owned. And just as terrifying! GREAT REVIEW!

It's nice that this toy got another shot thanks to Beast Wars II where he got to be a major recurring character, and a heroic one at that, along with a lovely new color scheme, though it seems the new colored plastic wasn't any less fragile, sadly. Poor fella's just cursed, I guess. (Also, mad props for namedropping amblypygids in the video 👍)

Fun video! Thank you! Oh, I definitely remember this one shelf-warming for AGES. I think Hasbro underestimated exactly how despised mosquitoes are, despite the fact that they wrote it into his actual bio card. I think if they'd gone with a character with an amblypygid or ant-lion as the main beast mode, it would've sold like gangbusters. Heck, a whip-spider could be made into a sinister and mysterious character that makes even Tarantulas wet himself.

Many years ago I bought the Japanese Beast Wars II version, Bigmos, who was evidently also a huge shelf warmer, along with BWII Galvatron. Galvatron's gold plastic legs crumbled into dust within a year, though Bigmos managed to survive long enough for me to sell him. I put Galvatron into storage and haven't seen him in 10+ years - I wonder if the rest of him has further crumbled.

I love it. Shares a lot of elements with BW SkyShadow but has waaay more gimmicks. If it weren’t so hard to come by in my country, I’d grab it. But I’m not searching so hard for the holy grail only for it to turn to dust in my hands. A reissue or third party job without the gold plastic would be a dream come true for me. Very doubtful that’ll ever happen though.

Y'know it's intresting that you mention the gold plastic. If memory serves it was actually the weird lilac parts that went all brittle and crumbly on me. Toy cannot even get its bad plastics right!

I've had the same issue you've had there with the purple plastic breaking. Last time I transformed it for some pics my desk had a load of small purple plastic shards left over on it. I've always been wary of the gold plastic on this but it's the purple stuff that's crumbling now.

I've always liked him, he really looks like MOTU charecter wich is amazing in my opinion. Never had him tho cuz I'm too young for seeing him on shelves, and too middle eastern to have him in my country lol, but I wouldn't mind getting his Japanese version Bigmos, he looks and sounds even more like MOTU toy

I have it and I adore it. However, the purple kibble that hold the bug legs on his arms are NOT meant to be rotated. If you do, the damn things will SNAP OFF. It happened on mine... _twice._ ☠

TRANSQUITO was a good toy, but all my 3 broke over the years..... If they re-issue him with different plastic, I will get him again. Oh and you miss-transformed him a bit in bug mode bud, the hands fold under his torso on hinges under his head.
