For finishing my GCSEs my dad took me to buy a well done present. I chose Dogfight and my dad, bless him, bought him despite thinking I was too old for toys. Hence he’s one of my favorites.

Override is exactly what I like in Transformers. A cool little guy I can take with me in my pocket, and in my favorite colors, with my favorite alt mode. Mmm mmm good. I also really enjoy his various fashion options; how the blue chunk can go all the way down on the back, up over the head, or even be a chest piece. Who else can do that!?

I like the tiny cylindrical missile pod on Dogfight’s shoulder. It looks like he’s got a little amateur Soundwave cosplay going. Frankly though, he’ll need to do better than that to qualify for the secret hot tub at TFnation.

The Triggercons make a convincing unit and I can imagine them scowling at each other in a dropship somewhere, but the Bots seem like the 3 folk the Autoboffins picked for a cutting edge upgrade and they mostly just argue over the radio. Even without knowing their Budiansky bios, I always thought it would be fun if they just had nothing in common but their weapons. All the other whatever-Masters got fiction about how they were mates so what if some of the Hot New Subgroups just weren’t

FIDDLE FACTOR! Yes! As I have gotten older, I have found that is what I look for in a G1 Transformer now. Can I put it on my desk, pick it up and play with it and put it back down with fighting with panels not lining up or thing out of place. LOVE IT! Great review of some simple yet fun, fiddly Transformers.

I have an immense respect for these three. When I was in grade school, my library had a transformers marvel compilation book, and these guys were in one issue with Optimus at the start of the underpass saga. I thought they were optimus’ secret best friends that the other autobots were jealous of

They had a fairly big part in the comics when I started collecting regularly, so I’m pretty nostalgic for these guys. Backstreet especially. He’s got a fairly unique design, I hope he gets a new toy

We’ve already got Animated Prowl as a potential new mold for Override (just add Legacy Elita/Minerva’s guns). Now we just need new molds for Backstreet (give us the option of folding back the orange brick surrounding his head) and Dogfight (could easily be a Needlenose/Windblade-tier Deluxe if done right)…

The comment at the end is similar to a idea I had that if Octane and Sandstorm were swapped factions originally. both groups of triple changers would have a fast car-helicopter guy, someone with both altmodes designed for transportation, and a guy with two war machine modes that don't actually make physical sense.

I loved Windsweeper back during G1, as he was one of my favorite toys. I'm glad to see that we got Crankcase and will be getting Rukus and Windsweeper. I think Selects should be used to get us updates to all of the rest at this point.

Funny how Backstreet’s alt-mode is similar to PotP Jazz’s. Maybe if there were more exclusives lines like today Hasbro would have repainted Jazz into Backstreet. Then again, considering that toy…maybe not.

Is it just me or Backstreet kinda looks like Wheelie on steroids? Also, comparing these guys with my boi ultra class Optimus Primal (which shares the similar spring loaded pop-out twin back cannons gimmick) really shows the progression in toy engineering, and it's AMUSING.

I have two Overrides. So I can display one in robot and vehicle mode rather than having to stress out that red joint. Oddly makes a cool fan mode with a unicycle leg and a kickstand.

fun fact that may-or-may-not-be-actually-fun: while backstreet cannot seems to be able to escape the clutch of g1, both override and dogfight got new, gimmickless toys in the japanese adventure release, which meant they were recolors of CW groove and powerglide with the upcoming release of windsweeper, backstreet and ruckus are the only character to need a new toy this side of the 2000s (ruckus was supposed to be made for CW, but copyright and all made the new character Offroad)
