On my way back to Dallas from Fort Worth, I decided to film a video out the front window on the Trinity Railway Express also known as the “Railfan Window.” Thanks for Watching!
Cab Car was 1004 and Locomotive was 120.

I used to sit there too. Fun times. I just rode for the fun if I had time. Once there were kids playing on a bridge and we started to stop pretty hard but they got out the way, so we get moving again.

The Richland Hills, TX Station Stop is the one most frequently used by me when I used to live in Arlington, Texas! I used to work for a Godiva Chocolate boutique at Northeast Mall, so taking the TRE was beneficial to me! The Main Station between the DFW area was near the DFW airport!

When you drive to the Center Point, DFW AIRPORT Trinity Railway Express Station, remember to park your car closer to the station, especially if you're walking! Some have shuttles to and from the Trinity Railway Express platforms, like the TRE STATION in Richland Hills! It drops you off at the Northeast Mall parking lot across from Sears. I'd go down the hill to the Mall Employees entrance. Went through it and back to wait for the shuttle ride back to the Richland Hills TX TRE STATION to take me back to the TRE STATION at the Center Point, DFW AIRPORT Trinity Railway Express Station. I'd walk or ride a TRE STATION shuttle back to the Park and Ride area, get in my car and drive myself back home! Long day, but so very much worth it! If you had to do that, please let me know!

Center Point, DFW AIRPORT, is where I would take the Trinity Railway Express to the TRE station in Richland Hills. I would then return to the Center Point, DFW AIRPORT Trinity Railway Express Station to drive myself back home to Southwest Arlington, Texas! I'd go up Highway 360 to catch the TRE to work. I return to the TRE station to go back home later that same day. Timing the traffic could be tricky at times! The gray ones don't have a bathroom on them, but the double decker ones do, including a bicycle storage area next to the entrance/ exit !

Love the video - very interesting. Can anyone explain the signal aspects to me? The progress is painfully slow isn't it? No wonder people seek alternatives. But, the time is coming when America will have to put serious government investment into high-speed rail and when that happens you'll see some great stuff happening on routes like this.
@torryjobe6244

As someone who travels from Fort Worth to Dallas at least five times a week, it really isn't much slower than driving (at least during the day). The only reason I don't take the train daily is because I don't work in downtown Dallas.
@alanmusicman3385
@alanmusicman3385 2 жыл бұрын
@@torryjobe6244 That is always the issue with trains or planes. They are not door to door - so it depends on the length of the actual journey whether the extra bit at each end makes it unattractive as compared to using a car. For longer journeys it's no contest, but as you suggest, Fort Worth to Dallas at just over 30 urban miles is on the cusp..... :-)

Signal aspects are as follows: Green=Clear, proceed at the maximum authorized speed for your train Flashing yellow= Approach medium, reduce to medium speed (40 mph for passenger trains, 25 for freight) and next signal will be an approach signal Yellow=Approach, be prepared to stop at next signal Red=Either stop or placeholder, it depends on the signal aspect. Flashing red=Restricting, proceed at restricted speed (no faster than 15 mph, and be prepared to stop within half the range of your vision). Yellow over yellow: Also approach medium, but it in addition means prepare to enter diverging route. Red over yellow: Diverging approach, proceed through turnout at prescribed speed, then proceed prepared to stop at next signal Red over green: Diverging clear, proceed at prescribed speed through turnout, then proceed at maximum authorized speed for your train. Red over flashing red: Restricting but for the diverging route Source: TRE Timetable

Yeah, sounds weird, but makes sense of some of the movies I've seen with American trains. Always thought it was a 1940s thing. We don't have them in Oz, except on the Indian Pacific and the Ghan lines when they're operating at stations that don't have the raised (train floor level) platforms that are used everywhere else.

Amtrak does it look like it's cement pillars looks like old wood and the speed limit must not be too fast because the train looks like it's going about 30 miles per hour anyone know what the speed limit is through this portion

Too bad nobody answered sooner. The top speed on this line is 79 mph. Due to the zoom it looks like 30 but it sounds like a solid 60-70 for the most part.

Slow start because the line needs upgrades. But once you got to the good track it got pretty good. Notice the engineer missed a couple of "W" signs at crossings. And then there are the aholes who walk on the tracks and endanger themselves, and the train crew and passengers.

I was actually yelling at the video because of how incredibly bad the track is. It's crazy; the top speed on this track is literally the same as a 50‰-grade European line in rockslide and avalanche-prone areas of Europe--and it's board-flat Texas. This is what happens when nobody in Texas wants to pay taxes to support infrastructure: everything just slowly rots away.

I'll tell you what I look for in a video that says, "Cab Ride..." in the title. I like to see the inside of the cab, the driver pushing buttons and moving levers. And I like to see an occasional pan around the cab...sweep over to the conductor, go down and show us the toilet and the front exit door, maybe walk back into the engine room...you know, make us think we are really in a "cab." I don't want to watch an hour of scenery out the front windows...BORING! (And, to the writer of the above description...are you aware that you started every sentence with "so?" That is a current fad, I know, and is supposed to make people seem "hip," and "with it," and, "cool." But all it does is make you look amateurish and unprofessional. No-no, don't thank me! This first writing tip is on me.)
