One sweet ride and very inspirational but just so everyone knows that the cab obviously has the provision for a in cab gas tank and 1947-48 Chevrolet & GMC trucks didn’t have that their gas tanks were mounted off the frame under the bed.

Great build! Not sure about it being a 47 tho. In 47 and 48 the gas filler wasn't on the cab.
@caitlingonzalez86333 жыл бұрын
Definitely a 50s, the vent between the door and hood weren't slits in the 40s, they were little doors that you could open from inside. Also it could be a 52-53 cause there is not exterior key hole, newer ones had put the hole on the handle itself but I'm not sure with this one cause there's neither
@CS-rx2gx3 жыл бұрын
@@caitlingonzalez8633 I have a 48. It has the louvred (slits) on the passenger side and the vent door on the driver’s side. This is probably a 49 or 50. 51 forward had wing vent windows and 52 - 55 had push button door handles.
@caitlingonzalez86333 жыл бұрын
@@CS-rx2gx my bad yes, I meant to say since the driver side no longer has a vent door it would be a 51 or 52-53, probably a 52 or 53 just with different handles since it doesn't seem like they did any fabrication to cover the key slot under the handle if it was a 51
@tre5customs1133 жыл бұрын
We shaved the key hole on the pass side, look real close. No vent windows and no push button door handles... so not a 52 or 53.

This … ya no words for this one . 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻. Question tho . Is there a rule of thumb for how much clearance you need for inner fender to face of rim ? . I’m trying to sort it out for my truck it’s on CB chassis with slam specialties and a ford 9” but not sure if the average housing is 60” or 58” with 20x9 4.5 backspace … a 62” housing puts me at 73.5 which is exactly what the truck is fender to fender … so if I went a 60” it gives me 1” clearance is that standard ? I’ve never had one on bags .. bad apple appears to have more then an inch so I’m thinking 58” housing puts me at 69 1/2” overall Any suggestions ! You guys are the kings of truck builds 👑
@tre5customs1135 ай бұрын
Short and sweet answer… depends on how low you want to turn and how much? Benefits to being sucked in further is you can turn lower… but some people don’t like the look. So it’s whatever you’re comfortable with… and not so far in that it’s going to rub on anything on the chassis.
@spesh13005 ай бұрын
@@tre5customs113 makes sense i know I want it not too far in but not maxed so I went with the 58” housing gives me 1.75” clearance on the rear and I mocked my front up it gives me 2” clearance face of tire to inner fender well . My 51 has always been stock so with the CB chassis it’s my first go .. I guess I’ll soon find out 1/4 done the build . Thanks for your help ! I’m in AZ a few times a year would love to see your shop . I’ll make sure to buy some merch tho haha 👍🏻 thanks for the help

I know quite a bit about these trucks, enough to know that push button handles were introduced in 51, half way through. They also added wing windows in 52. It may not be a 47, since as someone already stated the gas filler wouldn’t have been in the cab corner. My best guess is it’s a 48-50.
