As a result of the storm, the clocks went cockoo, the gold scales tipped, and the crystals crumbled!. 450 treasures were needed to end the storm. There are definitely earlier/similar DOS editions. Check out the 1990/1992 versions of treasure mountain and mathstorm. Might be what you are remembering!

You can turn it off. I THINK it’s off for new players so I’d imagine it wasn’t all too memorable based on how we played it growing up!
