I love that you always give options on how to make our own supplies instead of having to go out and buy special name brands that cost a lot more. I actually tried this recently with spackling paste. It worked but I used way too much of it. Thanks for the tips!

I’ve never been attracted to making journals. I just don’t get why anyone would spend so much time on making one…then what? You all seem to enjoy making them then they sit around, stacked up in a pile. I’m here to learn how to make the texture pastes and how to apply them. That said, I applaud you for putting so much time into creating them. I enjoy watching ‘Treasure Books’ vides as she has suck a pleasant voice, because she gets right down to teaching us, because she is filled with tips and finally, because she has no annoying music playing that often makes it hard for me to hear what is being said. I also find music distracting. Thank you for sharing your knowledge & experience with all of us. 👏👏👏👏👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🥰🥰🥰🥰

You can lay your stencil back down once it’s dry and go over it with gilding it adhesive and then add gilding sheets and whatever color choice is yours or if you lay your stencil back down, you can go over it with much easier than trying to paint freehand, but you have to wait till the modeling paste is dry Texture paste whichever you’re using

After all the scary stuff found about talc in the 70s, I never even brought that stuff into the house. Always used cornstarch for our babies, or myself. Cornstarch is definitely the way to go. I wondered also about powdered clay, then you mentioned it! This all looks like fun!

Natasha, hi sweetie 🥰. I love everything you've done here, and I think the imperfections make things look hand made, which I really like. @@emmkaa2099 I actually liked all the "fails" too. Or the experimental results. But, in the creator's eyes, it's about something that matches their original vision of it all. Hello Natasha!!! From Texas USA. I’m typing on my phone while I have you on my tv… lol. Yes, I’m that addicted to your videos!!! I enjoy you so much and want you to know that I personally want to thank you for all of the work and inspiration you put in your delightful videos!!! Since finding YT videos a few years back my life is completely different now!!! I found your channel a couple years back and have popped in now n then until recently? Now? I keep your vids going all day, even when I’m not watching, your voice is lovely and I love your candid honesty about things! Why sweat the small stuff, ya know? I have learned soo much from you and can’t wait to get started on some of your ideas. My craft room is in Reno state at the moment. My things are thru the house in boxes stacked in piles from the garage into my bedroom!! 😂 Hopefully it will come together in May. Waiting on storage units to arrive. My husband passed away in December 2020 and it has been such a crazy journey ever since!! He was a hoarder and smoked between 2/3 packs of cigarettes a day!! When I got started in this place… when I removed a wall picture… you could still see where it had been for years!! Ugh!! It took soo much work and product to get a plain clean wall!!! To paint!! Thank goodness for my youngest son who lives close by!! He brought his team in here and ripped down walls ceiling’s and flooring to just make this place clean n safe for me to live here!!! But, before he could do that I had about 2 years of manual, nasty hard work to get rid of everything he had in here!! He had kept everything from our children’s childhood and then grandchildren’s!!! Girl!! My neighbors wanted to know when I’d stop dragging stuff to the curb!!! Phew!! But, thru diligence I finally got it cleared out so he could take over the bigger work. I had to stay here during all of it too!!! Not sure why I’m telling you all this but it’s just something about your most devoted fan/sub… 😘 So, it’s been awhile since I’ve been able to craft for pleasure…. And you’ve inspired me to try my hand at some Journals. Your ideas are exceptional and even seem extravagant but you do such a GREAT job describing and showing how you create your ideas. If I were near you, I’d love to hug you to express how much I admire you! You’re making Shabby Chic toile flowers on tv now… 😍 I had a thought earlier and wanted to share the idea with you. I have managed to accumulate a pile of old cook books that Joe had collected. Many in French or Italian. I held onto them with you in mind. I was thinking my first journal experiment I might use some pages even pictures from those books. Then I thought, maybe you’d like to try that, so here I am passing onto you the idea. I have no idea how it would come together or finish. In all your videos you ask if we have any ideas and such so that’s why I’m sending this message. It also occurred to me that not in a million years could I ever use all of what I have. So I’m wondering if you’d care to share in my bounty? Was thinking I could box up some of these incredibly old pages and send them too you. What my concern is that I’ve seen your peeks of your inventory/craft space and not sure you’d care to receive even more…. It’s kinda neat that my sister does several different crafts and always asks me first what I mite have she could use. Sharing is caring to me which is why I’m asking if you’d be interested. Even if you don’t have the space I do hope you can use the cookbook idea and perhaps make a tutorial video. With high regards and much affection, ~Bobbi~

Made a batch with corn starch but it did not turn out well. It was just a dry clump, so I had to basically add double the amount of paint and glue to make it look okay. But I also had baking soda so I tried a batch with that and it turned out SO MUCH better and with the ingredient amounts you mentioned. Of course I had to also try them out. The corn starch one didn't function very well despite how I tried to fix the consistency. It was harder to spread and the result was messy, even with a small and simple stencil. But the baking soda one was nice! It spread nice and even with no bleed and I even used a slightly more complex stencil and it looks lovely. So I might give up on the starch one, or maybe keep it for bigger textured surfaces (like the journal you showed, with the leathery look) and use the better baking soda paste for more detailed work with stencils. I'll have to see how they look completely dry, they're currently still a bit moist because of course I had to do all this while watching the video. In any case thank you for this, I now know what to do with all that baking powder (and maybe starch) just sitting in my cupboard since I rarely bake stuff that requires it.

Saw a tip, can't remember by who, to spray the back of the stencil with repositionable glue spray. Keeps it from moving and also avoids bleeding. Maybe worth a try?
