Stability is a result of our economy's struggles with uncertainty, housing issues, foreclosures, global volatility, and the pandemic's consequences. To restore stability and promote growth, all sectors must respond quickly to concerns about growing inflation, slow growth, and trade disruptions.

The US economy cannot survive without continuous credit and debt creation. The FED will print more money and the average American will go just that much further in debt. Meanwhile, foreigners lust for the greenback. Their economies are in worse condition than the US... if that's even possible. Someone is going to be left holding the bag...

Gold might crash in a liquidity crunch, but many precious metal holders are prepared for this and unlikely to be forced sellers. The paper market would tank and possibly collapse. Hearing from an experienced investor who has overcome adversity is motivating. It can be scary when your portfolio turns red, but if you've invested in strong companies, stick to your goals and continue growing them

Predicting inflation starting to rise again this quarter while leading indicators showing economy slowing (not to mention governm*nt figures pumped up for the election). Global economy very weak which affects US. Fed dropping rates 0.50 shows they're VERY worried about financial downturn/crisis. interest rates coming down are also an indication banks are LESS willing to loan money into existence. The question here is where is the inflation going to come from in the near term? Consumers are mostly tapped out which is 70% of US economy (consumption). Yes inflation very likely to return but not before it continues to come down... Inflation can be a concern, but remember, certain assets like stocks and Crypto’s acts as a hedge. Long & short-term trading is generally safer, allowing investors to weather market volatility. I have managed to grow a nest egg of around 3.2 B'tc to a decent 27B'tc in the space of a few months... In light of the ongoing global economic crisis, it is crucial for everyone to prioritize investing in diverse sources of income that are not reliant on the government. This includes exploring opportunities in stocks, gold, silver, and digital currencies. Despite the challenging economic situation, it remains a favorable time to consider these investments.
@rogerwheelers432219 күн бұрын
Gold and Silver are often seen as a safe-haven asset that can protect against inflation and economic uncertainty. But like any investment, it carries risks. To determine if gold is the right investment option for you, an investment advisor can help you weigh the potential benefits and risks of investing in gold. They can also help you create a well-diversified portfolio that includes gold as part of a broader investment strategy. An investment advisor can help you decide how much of your portfolio should be allocated to gold and select other investments that can complement your gold holdings.
@joshbarney11419 күн бұрын
Investing in gold is a reliable choice, and I plan to keep buying more to make up for my losses. While silver is also a good investment, my collectibles are not as similar. You are correct, the Chinese and Japanese selling treasuries is not necessarily bad for the USD. However, a declining world economy is, as they will not need to buy more treasuries as economic conditions and trade slows. The fact that many central banks are selling treasuries and buying gold, especially the Global South and BRICS, is bad for the USD. I think we are at DEFCON 4.5 and the lagging indicators, continued revisions, and flat-out biased statistics will soon show it. Hopefully, I'm wrong, but I don't think so. I called the insolvencies of FNMA and Freddie-Mac in 2003. It's been a long digression, papered with rectangular pieces of paper with fancy printing on them. If you look at M1, M2 and M3 we are in a world of hurt as compared to GDP. Half our output is arms and other government contracting.

The US economy is already in recession. Any rate cut will not ignite inflation. The banks will tighten even more, all consumer and corporate credit lending. This is the beginning of a deflationary period for your assets. Stocks markets will decline, and stock values disappear in a blink of the eye. Businesses will begin layoffs in earnest which will soon be reflected in the unemployment rate and unemployment claims, to further solidify the recession. In fact, when the FED cut rates, it will signify that the Titanic is going under, and it will suck everything down. Retail and housing sales will truly decline as consumer hold off their purchases. The inverted yield curve will then turn positive, but remember, certain assets like stocks and Crypto’s acts as a hedge. Long & short-term trading is generally safer, allowing investors to weather market volatility. I have managed to grow a nest egg of around 130k to a decent 532k in the space of a few months... Thank you for your videos mate.... With Trump's presidency, economic shifts are expected to be significant, especially given the current recession and the potential impact of future rate cuts. Although rate cuts might not boost inflation as hoped, they may lead banks to further restrict consumer and corporate lending, contributing to a deflationary period for various assets. This environment could result in declining stock values, retail and housing sales, and rising unemployment due to layoffs. For investors, a diversified portfolio especially with stocks and cryptocurrencies offers some protection, serving as a hedge amid volatility. Both long- and short-term trading strategies can help manage risks, providing stability as markets adjust. I am amazed & amused at how viewers diss Jeff and certain other guests that appear on shows like this. Unlike some viewer assertions here, I seldom hear Jeff cite and rely on things from “corporate media.” He has an amazing command of facts; he interprets actual data and relates his own conclusions. He actually speaks disparagingly about some mainstream views; he doesn’t embrace them. If data itself is wrong, then maybe GIGO. But, what else to rely on? As to what he actually believes, he often (and here) takes issue with the mainstream view on a topic. For weeks-months, he showed correctly how economic & interest rate data was behaving much differently than what was reported. I find him not biased in one direction; he calls things as he sees them and adapts as needed when data changes. He tries to make people think, not spoon-feed them.

China used to have over a trillion dollars worth of US treasuries a couple of years ago. They hold less than 800 billion now, and the chart has been showing a downward trend. Jeff does not do a good job of describing that situation, and instead makes it sound like a normal ebb and flow. The trend is clearly to hold less US treasuries, and China is not the only country following this trend. Meanwhile the trend for U.S. debt has been clearly upward. More debt combined with less appetite to hold debt among large foreign entities should equal higher interest rates.
@kentriat242622 күн бұрын
You are spot on in your projection on bond rates and a rapidly reducing appetite world wide by individual countries reserve backs to hold US bonds and treasury notes. The Treasury sale this week was under sold until higher returns were offered and even then it was under subscribed leaving US banks to buy up the remaining 20% a 50% increase on normal levels of sub 10% of the offer. This is more and more debit not being offshored

Ya almost got Jeff to answer your question,.. but he has a habit of going off into the weeds and never coming back to actually answer a specific question,.. which was,.. What's happening with China, Japan et al selling treasuries? And more specifically the implied question,. (implied from all of the claims coming out of the financial talking head sphere) . does that mean the rest of the world is abandoning the dollar for something else? He eventually gets around to saying (after it's a cyclical event that happens all of the time (although it didn't happen last year at this time),.. but further) they need dollars for some kind of stimulus internally or some activity in the eurodollar market say for import transactions/purchases in the eurodollar market. and you took him to the edge to deny or confirm,.. well when they sell treasuries for these dollars,.. is it possible they're buying other currencies or something else with those dollars,..like gold,..as the goldbugs like to say,... but he went off into the weeds again,.. talking about how interest rates are falling (everywhere except the US),... never to return to give a specific answer.

Three billion unoccupied homes in China, with a population of 1.4 billion????? No. You're off by 95%. Enough to house 3 billion people, was the opinion given by one former head of the statistics bureau who "suggested" there might be enough vacant homes to house 3 billion people. Far more likely is the better-researched figure of about 65 million vacant properties.

@Wildboy789789 my problem with Jeff is every time something negative for the dollar happens he's really quick to defend it. At this point in history some of these actions have to be negative. I understand the process of dedollarization will be slow but I believe it is happening. History always repeats. With gold being bought at theses levels something is changing and jeff always says I'm just ignorant.

While I agree that there is very little that the government can do with the economy, yet they have a huge impact to the stock market, as you have indicated that stock market is not a good indicator to the health of the economy and history proves that. The reason that they have such a big impact is that they have the power to devalue the dollar, which always causes asset price, including stock prices to go up. As long as they are willing to sacrifice a little bit on the inflation target, they can always pop up the market.

China and many other countries are getting away from holding too much US treasuries because of what happened to Russia. Also, the US treasuries are not backed by anything tangible but by the belief that the US government will not default. Finally, many countries are now beginning to believe that the US will default on its national debt because it is simply becoming too large. Interest payment alone is more than the military budget. Every country knows that the US is issuing new debt to pay for the old. No individuals can keep on living off credit cards forever, let alone an entire country.

I am concerned that Jeff Sniders analysis is base on opinions and headlines from corporate media and not facts and figures. On the weakening of the Yuan; as long as the US keeps debasing her currency, china will be weakening her Yuan. China's economy is not in deep trouble as the west keeps propagandizing. But its not without trouble like any other sovereign. China's economic woes are marginal compared to the US and Europe. MAy I suggest that if you are serious about being an economic analyst on China's troubled economy; you need more access into Chinese economic information and gather knowledge on the the toolbox that China has for her economy. It is different from the west. Get yourself a CHinese literate researcher instead of relying on headlines and slogans in the language you are comfortable with.

You people are intelligent analyst. I am a macro economist from India, we nationalist prefer calling it Bharat. May i suggest you one thing. You people are getting confused because you are missing out in a top KGB personnel Putin, who has a resourse rich country. He is a nationalist, no nonsense leader and he knows that US Democrats and China are corrupt. Hence, he prefer a most reliable leaders like Trump, Modi and Netanyahu. Go deeper into this union as they will keep US as number one power. Putin and Modi will never trust Xi and China as a whole as their countries' neighbour.
@manojraizada67057 күн бұрын
The moment Trump cones in, Bharat will definitely jump in for production in USA. Trump's success is Modi's success as both democracies will strengthen. The woke part of the western democracies has to go. USA will stay as numbers one economy for atleast 200 years. India called Bharat, needs USA Israel Japan Europe and Russia to help grow the Global South. We macro Economists who believe in temple ecosystem think differently then the looting and war based later Abrahamics. Bharat was rich for everyone. Prosperity doesn't need poor and rich differential

One issue with the analysis is that there needs to be an explanation of what causes movement in the foreign exchange market. Why is the Chinese currency losing value against the dollar? Why do the Chinese need dollars within their economy? The dollar is not money in the Chinese economy.
@charlesyang492322 күн бұрын
Maybe it’s too naïve to say this is as normal as EU bond sales in the past. The last thing China short of is dollar which China had decades of trade surplus sine 1970. One thing I do want to bring to table for the uniqueness of China's dollar-denominated bond sale is that it marks the closest interest rate compared to FED bond sale (only 1~3 basic points). This suggests three things including a)China can equally share, if not overplay, the dominant power of dollar bond at the expense of dollar hegemony, b)China dollar bond will be used to dilute if not absorb Saudi purchase of FED bonds purchase, and c)counterweight and replace any dollar-denominated loan by Western banks to developing countries, specifically with BRI framework, to Yuan, and generate trillions of dollars flow back to US to pump up high inflation.
@festekj21 күн бұрын
Why are treasury yields going up if US interest rates are going down ? Moreover, China issued bonds to Saudi Arabia in US dollars. China is sitting on a pile of US cash sitting in Chinese banks. How are they lacking US dollars ? They aren’t scarce in China

As for the real estate bubble in China, I don’t know if Mr. Snider is aware of it, during the periods of the most rapid collapse of the Chinese real estate market in the 3rd quarter of ‘23 and the first quarter of ‘24, while the real estate market fell 9.1% and 9.7% respectively, the overall economy grew by 5.4 and 5.1% in those two quarters. Rather impressive that the real estate sector collapse had such a minimal impact on the overall economic growth.

I think there are multiple reasons China is selling US Treasuries. Multiple risks…geopolitical conflict of two major superpowers. China, is lowering their exposure to US conflict…possible US default of debt issuance. China, providing liquidity to their domestic economy and moving towards greater precious metals purchases. Many aspects in play. Also US policy of weaponizing its dollar, including tariffs and barriers to movement of capital obviously has an impact on Chinese policy to weigh the risk of US Treasuries.

If the latest Treasury notes sale is an indication of future direction for the US dollar. The sale was poorly brought with sales only getting going for speculators once higher interest rates were offered. But it still left US banks to buy up over 20% of the offering up from the general 10%. There looks to an outsider as if a recession starts countries look to be heading for gold not the US financial offerings as we have seen over the past 70 years in these circumstances. The other issue is the use of the US dollar in trade payments is down from 86% to about 56% and falling. We are seeing small local trading blocks trading in local currencies at agreed values without the use of the US dollar at all. This is reducing the demand for dollars and as BRICS plus develops we are going to see the US trade dollar drop below 50% use within five years going on what we can see and lower there after.
