Story time! On the topic of bull power. I bought a bull from auction with a warning of do not share a fence with other cows as he will jump fences. When my cows came into heat he definitely did his job very well, to well actually. Come 9 months latter every one of my 24 cows calved within 2 weeks, along with 80ish (might have been 90) of my Nabors heifers he did not plan on breeding for another 2 months that he had almost 2 miles away. We know it was my bull because he was found dead in the heifers pen. Vet said his hart exploded dew to over working. One of his calves are now my primary bull and he never misses a cow in the 5 years he been working for me and thankfully he doesn't even challenge fences.

If the 4wheeler pushes the gate open so easily, what stops a cow from leaning on it and pushing it open ?
@HowFarmsWork Жыл бұрын
The cows are scared of it after they got familiar with it. It’ll actually pick the front end of the four wheeler up and almost flip you back if you aren’t careful how you cross it.

My Dad has problems with a neighbor's bull. He caught the thing and used a Burdizzo on it. It never was a problem again, and the owner couldn't figure out why he wasn't getting any calves the following year. Right on the edge of a lawsuit, because we had Registered Dairy herd, and the neighbor just ran scrub beef cattle. I think you could do the same, because your neighbor isn't running anything but a scrub hobby breed. I'm not sure about the legal stuff, but if you rack a bull or 2, they might want to maintain fence better. Just saying.

Very good video hopefully you coud dart the other bull and so the same...I have seen them highlanders bring thousands at the special exotic animal sales tho to had you weren't closer to one of them who knows what a trophy bull with horn's like that would go for Many times the head sells for far more after the slaughter then the animal brings as far as highlanders and longhorn's at auction

I hope the neighbor didn't expect the money from the sale of the bull, after all it was UR fences that got damaged and u will have to repair, UR cows that got screwed with, UR time, effort and cost to take him down and haul his ass to the sales barn. Herd it said hilander bulls are horney in more ways than one. 🐂 lol 😆
@calebcaudle460 Жыл бұрын
No way would I trust something that important to a dart gun. Have the vet come do it in a chute and bill the neighbor for the entire cost. Then you can discuss with him. How much money you lost out on from Not having the correct calvrs this year.
@HowFarmsWork Жыл бұрын
Part of the reason I didn’t use a chute was because I was sure I wouldn’t be able to get them all back in to the buildings, which I didn’t. Still could have rented a chute and ran them through but for me the darts were way more convenient for the time I had available.

$ the Cross bread calf's won't gain weight as fast and won't bring as much money when he sells them it's difference in several thousnds of dollars each animal it coud be a 500-1200 dollar loss depends on weight color and how much of that shaggy fur comes threw on the calf's to turn off the buyers in the beef game black hided animal's always bring more money..
