My one shot to inject the dexter steer with Draxxin failed. Luckily his pink eye is not severe. Time to get a CO2 dart gun!

I know sometimes you'll get people that poo poo this idea but I always used Fly ear tags as a preventive and never had a cow get pink eye. Good luck with your choices.

Did tags the first year I had cows. Mixed results but I know they would help.

If you treat pinkeye it goes away in about 14 days, if you don't treat pinkeye, it goes away in about 2 weeks. Just something I heard an old timer say.

For sure. I have heard that as well. It’s always a gamble in my opinion. Early treatment is almost always 💯 successful. Waiting to see if it clears on its own, only to have it progress to the point of severe pain to the animal or permanent loss of vision means treatment might be too late to work. I’m always torn on the decision to treat. My thought it always if it’s a terminal animal, risk it and see if it clears on it’s on. If it’s a life time member of the herd, aka needing vision for many years to come, treat it.
