13:32 seems wrong. As particle will settle down only when its OFR < Settling Velocity. Not when It's Greater than Vs as mentioned by Mam

OFR is calculated by hydraulic characteristics of a Tank for a design particle , so any particle having the settling velocity greater than or equal to surface overflow rate will get just settled or 100 % settled. So , she was correct. Assuming all particles have same specific gravity.

In designing of sedimentation tank, Isn't flow velocity is Q/B*H. So surface area should be B*H. But you have mentioned B*L. I am a little confused. Please clarify.

A settling column analysis is run on a type-I suspension. The settling column is 2 m tall and the initial concentration of the well-mixed sample is 650 mg/L. Results of the analysis are below: Time, min. 0 58 77 91 114 154 250 conc. remaining, mg/L 650 560 415 325 215 130 52 What is the theoretical efficiency of the settling basin that receives this suspension if the loading rate is 2.4×10-2 m/min? Which parameters need to be varied to increase removal efficiency?

Regarding the settling velocity, If the particle has the velocity greater than the settling velocity (like u said) it will not settle down. If the flow velocity of the particle is greater than the settling velocity it will never settle down. It will just escape. U said it wrong . Settling velocity should be greater than the flow velocity in a sedimentation tank. What you said in 13:40 is wrong LOL

🛑🛑 If Q and V are given then Q/V will give the cross section area ma'am. you have written it as suface area. Surface area should be Q/overflow rate. Please clear my confussion ma'am.
