I love your videos. They're concise, clean, and always accessible, whether I'm watching for review, clarification, or pleasure. Could you do something on Benedict Arnold? He's been on my radar lately, and I'm only starting to appreciate what a complex character he was!

Hey tom I have watched all your ap euro review videos and really enjoy them! I was wondering if you could recommend a good book for a incoming ap euro student! I really want to excel next to me peers Thank you from Seattle!

Omar Sethi WOW! You watched ALL of them ALREADY? That's awesome! I'll be posting many more Euro videos this year. Chris Freiler's AP Achiever book is a good one - he's been doing the AP Euro Reading for several years.

Seems a bit complicated, Had to negociate with each state then. When did they formally recognize the US?
@Alan_Mac4 жыл бұрын
That would be 1789 - same as everyone else.

Hmm interesting. Weren't there like 2 different Treaties of Paris? I know this one says the "Revolutionary War" But if theres another one could you do a video of that. Like outside of America. Because didn't the british claim half of Canada in the process of that little treaty. Isn't that like why Queen Elizabeth is our Sovereign, I think I used the right word. But still though.
@tomrichey10 жыл бұрын
***** The Disarray That is correct. There are actually SEVERAL Treaties of Paris - the most noteworthy for US (and also Canadian) History are the 1763 and 1783 treaties. I may do a video at some point on the French and Indian War.

Awesome, thanks!
@mir580410 жыл бұрын
Next question, its dumb I know. Why do they call it the treaty of Paris? Were they all signed in Paris?
@tomrichey10 жыл бұрын
The Disarray You got it! Treaties are typically named for where they are signed.

I am confused. Why 1763? Is that conjoined with 1783?
@jonbarr96846 жыл бұрын
Treaty of Paris 1763 was after the French and Indian War and set up the land that was to be used for the 13 colonies that the British had. Also, it stated that the British colonists could not move past the Proclamation line so that the colonists would not intermingle with the Native Americans anymore.

The loser does not dictate the terms, think for a minute. If you lost the war, would you be the side dictating the treaty?

Because of taxes is it safe to say that one dont really own property. The tax on our land that our property sites on can be confiscated if a yearly state tax is not paid that this is for life. So did they really give us anything?

Spain didn't help a "little bit" Spain helped a LOT. Spain helped more than France in men, in money, in battles won and up to this day the debt of the 13 colonies to Spain has not been paid. Please tell me I am wrong.

George ceded the lands but kept his colonies/corporations. Read the treaty details and what is more is the US was placed in an inferior position legally and politically due to a procedural error by the US signatories. The inferior position is the result of the traditional customs and uses in who had top/first position in signature on the document. Think suzerain.
