Trebuchet is my weapon of choice too. The whole mechanism is fascinating, and the ease it throws almost any object where ever it is aimed at, leaves me in awe every time. No violence, like in cannon or other explosive thrust weapon. No loud noises, no smoke, unless the ammo itself is on fire, just a necessity to move.

thanks for suggesting the video. Funny that you should mention the wheels, that was one of the ways we adjust how far throw, if we are aiming for a target and we want the projectile to not go quite as far, we block the wheels to keep the base from moving.

I am building a 10 foot Trebuchet. The counterweight is going to have 1000 pounds. But I have a question? Should the box be round? Or can I make it a rectangular box? I would need to do more welding for the counterweight box if it were to have a round bottom, But can I simply make it a rectangle or will that put too much stress on the trebuchet when the load falls? Or will it be ultimately the same for both?

We do have another video on it, kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3SZg32ue6qAnLs we made our counter plates about 60 pounds each and when throwing for maximum distance drop about 1100 pounds as our counter weight. our support post top is about 11 feet high the arm is about 14 feet. my first question for you is do you have wheels on the machine, if not add them, it allows the machine to move forward instead of tipping
