My 465th kite video. This is a classic in the kite world - everyone knows the Cody, and this is probably the best version you can buy.

Beautiful kite & one of my favorite designs. I would love to have one of these so I could retire my Greens of Burnley Cody from the 90's!

It's another of those great kites that I no longer own. I used to fly it so rarely that I found a better home for it.

Jim just noticed this beautiful Treczoks Cody Kite have you ever flown it since or did you sell it. let me know your thoughts on this stunner.

It's a good kite - a classic design that some people really love. However, it takes a bit of time to assemble, and doesn't greatly appeal to me, so I sold mine quite a while back. It pulls very hard in a strong wind, and some people use it as a lifter. The "real thing" is in stock at Picture Pretty Kites, or there's a cheaper version in a choice of colours at G-Kites. I don't have experience of that one.

Jim, you did a fine job of assembling the kite with the cross spars meeting in the middle as they should. The sails are taut. You have dressed away the excess lines too. It is true that Cody's want a fair breeze. They will pull like a Mac Truck. Be prepared to anchor the kite. You will agree that additional window dressing on this kite is unnecessary. I did see a video of a fellow in Fano who employed a rectangular sheet drogue attached behind the rear box at the four corners. I'm tempted to do that with mine, just to see what happens. BTW, I've a new WSIKF clip coming up on just this kite.

glenn mitchell I don't think assembling this kite is a problem, Glenn, if you know anything at all about kites. I have a small New Tech Cody Pro, not very good, which I have flown only twice, but the general principle is the same. I'll take note of the warnings you and Carl gave about flying in high wind, but having been fighting recently with something much fiercer, I won't be too worried by this one. I'll look out for your video.

Thats a special kite to have Jim. I always think of the Cody as the " Grandfather"of kites with a commanding presences in the sky, watching over all the other kites below. If you fly it in stronger winds beware ...HANG ON to the Line!

Kiteflying Down Under I'll bear that in mind, Carl. With my increasing weight, it probably won't be a problem!

I only have a simple cody, but have always admired the look of this kite. Another on my wish list..

jonny numbers I held off getting one for a long time. My first impressions are that it's not as special as I thought it might be (nice kite, though), but is much easier to assemble and fly than people had led me to believe.

+Jim Nicholls -- I *STILL* have not assembled the Cody. The main reason is that it is SO BIG that even in my living room it would be 'cramped' to say the least. I have a garage, but I have A LOT of my Mom's stuff stored there, so it is currently unusable for the task. Then just THIS MORNING, after ALL THESE MONTHS, it occurred to me: I have - what we call in the USA - a "F.R.O.G", or "Finished Room Over Garage", that has enough space to assemble the Cody in. BOY, I'M A REAL FART SMELLER...er, uh, I mean REAL SMART FELLER!!! {Actually, BOTH apply....} ;~)°

I hope you get around to it before you get too old to fly it!

Jim Nicholls You don't want much, do 'ya...LOL. Actually, I STARTED ON IT in the room over the garage, but I have *misplaced* the instructions...D'OH! I will EVENTUALLY find them, but I was busy this afternoon & evening and could not look. Are they available online?

Jim Nicholls Hey! Quick question before I nod off {it's after midnight here now}. I just watched your *ITW George Peters Buzz Bee Kite* video. Have you done any work with kite hummers on your own? {Thanks in advance!}
@JimNicholls8 жыл бұрын
None. Where I fly, there's usually too much noise from the sea to hear a hummer anyway.
@Allan_aka_RocKITEman8 жыл бұрын
+Jim Nicholls -- Roger that. Thanks anyway.

This sounds ominous. I trust you are speaking kite related, else email me and talk.
