Was a bit worried for that homeowner in the green pants with the tiny saw. Clearly he had no idea how dangerous this was. I liked the protective shoes of the lumber jack. Proper traditional dutch wood clogs (or what they are called).

Having just lived through a Category Five Hurricane a little less than two years ago I can tell you that many, many people were out the next morning doing the same thing. Most were just like me, local homeowners just trying to get the road cleared so people could get in and out. Chainsaws were flying off the shelves as far as a hundred miles away being bought by people just trying to help in any way they could. Like these guys, very few really knew the "proper" way to cut up a tree. All they knew was help couldn't get in if the trees weren't cut up and pushed out of the way. Unless you've lived through one of these kinds of storms you have no idea what people are going through when one hits.

This brought back horrible and scary memories of a little over a year and a half ago as Hurricane Michael attempted to wipe my part of the state of Florida off the face of the earth. We were told it was a high three or low four category storm. I stood and watched as a category FIVE ripped huge Oak trees out of the ground, tore my outbuildings apart as if they had been dynamited, and left my hometown looking like a war zone. Boy, did the weather guessers ever get this one wrong! Luckily, my house was built back when houses were built to last so except for roof and ceiling damage I came a way far better than most in my area did. Can't really say how well the pants I was wearing at the time came out!

@mactcampbell
@mactcampbell 5 жыл бұрын
In Holland, it's probably only the arborists that are trained in chainsaw safety. The operators in this video are constantly in the line of fire of a kickback. They seriously need to do an assessment on this. It's getting that way here in Canada, too. They deployed the armed forces after one storm, gave them a crash course in chainsaw operation an away you go. Experienced lumberjacks are rapidly disappearing as a result of the use of machines. That's one of the reasons why it takes so long to clean up after storms that cause damage from trees.

Complete clown cutting! If they cut the trees in the middle of the road it can lift up a bit.. And do a smal cut on the downside first then stick the saw in the middle working it up for pressure release. Done thousands of trees like this on powerlines.
