Sadly this situation exposes the tremendous waste associated with government bureaucracies. The initial placement of the trees was totally inappropriate and lead to the problems that required the removal of all of the trees. Let's begin with the initial planting... and the problems associated with it. For this type of pine tree, the optimal density is 100 to 200 trees per acre. The planting that was used was well over this density. Planting with this excessive density has 3 potential problems. 1st was the obvious result of blight which will kill all of the trees. 2nd is insect infestation. And last is the tremendous fire hazard. (With most pine trees a density over 100 trees per acre creates a severe fire hazard that is impossible to extinguish because the fire progresses in the tree tops. Finally was the absurd amount of effort for a landowner to harvest the land that he/she owns. Why should the owner seek government approval to care for his/her property??? (This is an addition to the reality that government so-called "experts" were probably involved in the initial failure to plant with the proper density which caused the problem in the 1st place!)

Idk, I don't really see the owner of the place wanting to plant less trees and the government telling him "no, you have to throw more in there".

Ok. It's called logging, or timber harvesting. Not lumbering. That term went out 75 years ago. The saw cuts while the arms grab a split second after the cut is started. The blade spins at roughly 1,000 revolutions per minute, not 6,000.
@kalmurphy52549 ай бұрын
What people don't understand the old growth has to be cut because of the high danger of forest fire s that can destroy a large amount of timber so replant is better of all

Planting red pine is like planting poverty. It's damn near worthless to the landowner. Better off planting poplar. Grows 3x faster and is worth about the same.

Depends where you are. Mature red pine stumpage is going for $40-55 a ton in WI and even higher. Saw a sale go for $66 a ton just today.

The first grade teacher: (should say "See the duck, See the dog")...number one: chains on skidder tires do not stop tires from being damaged. Number two: A tiger cat 234 will save a lot of time taking limbs off trees, cut the tops off, cut the trees to a certain length, weigh the load and load a trailer at the same time. Total waste of time doing this procedure the way it is presented in this presentation.

I love watching the machines, but the commentary is the worst I’ve ever heard, how many times can you tell me the same thing? I feel stupider having listen to this guy for the whole video. Edit: I wrote the above comment before I finished the video, the way the commentator wraps up the video makes me think a second grader wrote the entire script.

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
