G2 Outdoors Can I buy just the spliced rope sections without any hardware?? The only option I saw on the website was for the lineman’s and tree tether package with the carabiners included.

heya greg another great video sir ....just have a couple quik questions for you.....instead of double braided rope could you use 5/16" AmSteel for your linemans rope and/or tree tether rope? would the ropeman1 dig into it too much to cut it? thanks for a response in advance

Great videos. I just ordered my first stand. It's not made for saddle hunting though. (Lone Wolf Assault 2) I don't have any safety harnesses or ropes yet, so that's how I found your channel. Instead of getting a hunters full 5 point harness, should I just go for a saddle system and use it with my Lone Wolf? I wont be buying a predator platform. Would I get the best of both worlds with this setup? I know it will be heavier, but that's okay, I'm practicing on my land for now. Thanks

I'm a little confused if ur climbing the tree with ur lineman belt and say u miss a step how is the lineman gonna keep u from falling looks like u will still slide down the tree!I know the lineman is good for using both hands but they always say if something happens I'm still connected to the tree by ur linemans belt and I just don't see it its not gonna stop u from falling!

Ryan Shaw Search amazon for “double braided arborists rope”. Ropes for tree work are usually more flexible and a bit less money than rock climbing ropes.

Hey Greg what are some tips on rope maintenance? Cleaning, water proofing etc. I thought about spraying them with kiwi waterproofing. I bought the Tethrd lineman’s and tether.
@G2Outdoors
@G2Outdoors 5 жыл бұрын
You don't really need to do any maintenance other than inspections for damage. The ropes are made with UV and Rot resistant fibers so you don't have to worry about them degrading with moisture or exposure to the elements.

Hi Greg, great vid! I noticed your rope has a double sliced eye...one large and one small. I was wondering if the Tethrd lineman’s and tree tethers have a small spliced loop at the tail end or straight? I’ve always like to clip back in to my Biner for that double safety and xtra peace of mind. Keep up the great work! 👍Thanks, Rob

Greg - Thethrd sells two different size lineman and tether ropes, 11 mm or 8mm. Which of those size ropes do you personally prefer and use the most and why?
@G2Outdoors
@G2Outdoors 4 жыл бұрын
8mm all day long. It's lighter and a lot less bulky. I can easily fit my tether, lb, 2 carabiner, and 2 ropemans in 1 SYS Hauler. I wish I had changed to the 8mm rope sooner.

@@G2Outdoors Darn. During the past month I had problems with the lineman ropes that I had ordered from another company (they were too short). So I decided to get some new ropes. I watched your videos, liked them a lot. It looked to me like you were using 11mm ropes. I read about the ropeman 1 that you recommended, and I don't think that will work with the 8mm ropes. So I ordered the 11mm tether and lineman ropes from Thethrd. They arrived a few days ago and have never been used. They looked kind of large to me. I was hoping you would truthfully be able to tell me that you really do recommend 11mm over 8mm for some reason, but I appreciate the truth rather than what I would have preferred to hear. Maybe Tethered will let me trade up since the newly arrived ropes have never been used and were delivered to my house less than a week ago. I am not blaming you for my ordering mistake. Your sharing of knowledge in videos has been great! Technology is always advancing and we are all always learning and adapting. It just sucks that I got less desirable ropes. I am in the process of transitioning from climbers. This season my first use of climbing sticks (Muddy Pros) and hang on stands. Now (at the end of this season) I am about to transition to at least some form of saddle hunting to cut down on weight and bulk. I will try to call Tetherd to see if there is anything I can do to get the 8mm ropes I am sure I will also prefer since they are less bulky.

@@carypeaden4147 Tethrd is a great company run by great people :) They will absolutely let you return/exchange for the 8mm ropes. If they say "No" just tell them G2 said they had to :)

@@carypeaden4147 There's nothing wrong with 11mm ropes. They will work great. They're just bulkier and heavier than the 8mm option. I prefer the 8mm no doubt.

@@G2Outdoors Thanks. I can tell that Tethrd is a good company and group of people and they have good products. Thanks! I will return the 11mm ropes and get the 8mm ropes. Just a minute ago I was watching a Tethrd One Stick Review video (that just came out) and you said "Buy once, cry once". Ideally, I want to get the product I really want as early as possible (rather than wasting money on stuff that's good but not quite right). To begin with I will just use the prusick knot, but eventually I will get either a device like a Ropeman 1 or a Madrock Safeguard (depending on whether I will repel). Are you using the Ropeman 1 with the 8mm rope, or did you switch to something else?
