Thank you KZbin algorithm! Immediately bought this to test my box of cables.... (~100) Do you happen to know of a DP or HDMI testers as well??
@FEPLabsRadio6 ай бұрын
No, I don't, that might be a handy thing for sure. I have so many usb cables, it NEVER fails, I'll grab one that is power only, then I spend time trying to figure out why my gadget won't gadget...I'm planning on sitting in front of the TV with the old lady, and going thru every USB cable I have, and chucking out the power only ones. Or, at least sticking them in a separate box at the back of the closet... Thanks for watching!

Bought.... Went the extra 2 bucks for the case. Cool item to go with my RJ type tester

Right? I missed that part, but I'll 3d print something, or just use the fancy cardboard box.

Best video so far explaining this tester. The book that came with mine isn’t the same. It’s in English and German and doesn’t have that chart. Can it be downloaded?

Howdy! I found the manual - tinyurl.com/treedixmanual I'll also post this link in the description above.

Could you explain the meaning of the ‘shield’ LED being on or off, and how the CC1, CC2, GND, S & G leads on the board can be properly used?
@FEPLabsRadio4 ай бұрын
Nope. That's why I have this thing, and the chart inside. Honestly, I just wanna know if it is power only, or power and data.

How can you test usb a / usb a cables? I dont think you can. You would need an adapter for the incoming port and that would skew the results, right?
@pestpatroller25 күн бұрын
I also think it would skew the results.

Since I've never heard of or seen a USB-A to USB-A cable that was anything other than all 4 wires, it's pretty moot.

Did you take this down to the gas station to test their cables?

Hi, nice device, i think i am buying this :-), do you know if there is machine like on amazon that would be able to test any laptop charger that got a usbc connector? Or a device to be able to test them with my multimeter please?
@FEPLabsRadio2 ай бұрын
No - the device is strictly for cables - usb something to usb something - you can't hook up power to it.

I'm curious how gas station USB cables would do with this tester.

Does it do a good job of determining a gas station usb cable? Cheap device for all the functionality it has. Thanks for the video Jim! 73
@FEPLabsRadio6 ай бұрын
HA! It will tell you that gas station cable ain't got no data line. That's a win, son!
@ronwolenski-n8wcr6 ай бұрын
That would come in very handy if you have a bunch of cables around. However it doesn't tell you how good the cable is, just continuity. Plus the chart not showing the pin order from the board is not good.

Important safety tip - don't cut zip ties off cable bundles with a knife.

Would have been more professional, if you prepared the content in a way that you dont try to figure out what you see on the device, but could already explain + zoom into the leds indicating the lines, and explaining a charger cable means D+ and D- pins are shortcircuit, an ordinary USB2.0-only data cable with a Type-C connector looks like this, etc.

Bruh - sharing a device that tells the average guy if it's a data/power cable, or a data cable. It's a cheap gadget that saves hassles.
