It's always interesting to see how different countries tackle the same issue of framing, and what's normal/code in the various regions. I think that wall would be considered very over-built here in Australia. Personally I would probably install packers between end stud and the door framing to tie them all together and make that part of the wall much stiffer. Tying studs together like that forms a mini-truss. It's also interesting to see the use of what we call noggins doesn't seem to be very common in North America. They stiffen the wall a lot once installed. Thank God we changed from Imperial to Metric when I was young. I take my hats off to you guys for getting anything done at all based on that archaic nonsense.

I literally just came to the comment section to say I just get lost with all these fractions being from the UK and using the far superior metric system. This stuff just baffles me the way it is still used as a standard

Great video. Left with some question on calculating the top plate in a calculator. Didn't really show how he came to it. If I go with the 6/12 pitch, know my bottom plate length, know an ideal short wall height... what else do I need (and how do I perform) the calculation? Thanks!

I’m framing a single-pitch treehouse as well, but with 2x3s. Think that’s still ok to forego a header larger than that? I won’t be installing any real windows, just shutters if anything. Thanks.

Do you just cut the top of the studs the degree in pitch of the roof?

Go metric and save time! The three countries which are not using the metric system are Liberia, Myanmar and of course… the United States of America.
