I am a 36 yr old Artist/prop maker/special fx makeup artist man and this is very inspiring to me. I do alot of stuff that my wife isn't interested in doing with me but this is something I think we would both enjoy. I see the artistic end of it and she loves handmade soaps. She is also always saying she is envious of all of my hobbies and side gigs meanwhile she feels she has none and lacks talent, but I think it's a lack of trying new things. Subbed.
@TreeMarieSoapworks
@TreeMarieSoapworks 5 жыл бұрын
Oh, that would be great if you could get her interested and both make it together. As an artist, you will love this hobby! It is wide open as to what you can do! You will never get bored with it!

@@TreeMarieSoapworks Yeah, I have been trying to get her to join me in some of my activities ( especially since some of them are monetary and pretty lucrative and it would speed up production lol ) but she is kind of overwhelmed by the skill level and experience I have at some of them. I think started at a level playing ground and using a medium she enjoys would bring her right in. Who knows maybe even make a couple of dollars for herself on the side eventually down the line. We live in the Poconos near tons of candle shops and touristy type places I'm sure would sell them if we came up with a decent product. Oh and I wanted to tell you how impressive your work is. I went to a few of the bigger channels after watching a handful of yours when they auto played and your soaps are by far the nicest looking soaps. You deserve way more subs.

Does she show interest in soap making? Maybe buy some handmade soap to use in your home. I fell in love with it when I got it as a gift. I knew I would either have to make it or buy it because I didn't want to go back to shower gel. Thank so much for the nice compliment! I get the feeling you are an artist, so I value your opinion. 😊

Have you tried spraying 90% alcohol on the top of your soap before you set it to gel? This is a step that Royalty Soaps, Royal Appleberry Soaps, and Brambleberry all advise you to do to prevent soda ash. Edit: Oops! I always use steamer on soda ash it always work. Just use steamer little longer almost to the point of soap melting. Also don't hold soap in your hand when steaming because you get fingerprints or glove marks on. You could get steam burn. I use BBQ skewers under the soap for steam to go around the soap bars evenly. Put a single napkin layer on your surface are under the skewers. Let the bars dry completely before you touch them. I have saved hundreds of my soap bars from soda ash and turned them into beautiful shiny bars.

Remember me? I've mentioned to you a while back about doing an experiment with 50% water discount. I do this all the time and never experienced soda ash since... I can't imagine ever going back to a higher water count. Pros w/ 50 % wd, curing time is cut in half about 3 weeks.. test it yourself? try out the pH levels after that amount of time and you'll see it's safe... but my suggestion is when soaping at such a steep level you have to be sure that you are soaping below room temperature.. I go as far as putting my lye solution in the freezer until cooled, because if you soap hotter then that you will reach Trace immediately... I would love to see you do a Experiment video on 50% wd😁👋

Oh gosh, I forgot to mention, soaping like this is nearly impossible to leave your soap in the mold for 48 hours or 24 hrs... I have left it longer than 7 hours maybe 9 and it was impossible for me to cut through it.. so I've unmold about 6 to 7 hours.. 🤣 you probably like "what is she crazy" lol. true story

I do remember you. 😊 Are you able to do swirls with this steep of a water discount? By 50%, are you meaning equal parts water and lye? I am always making complicated designs. The batter has to remain fluid for a long time. I Do you think it would work with complicated designs?

Love these vids. Only recently started seeing these in my feed. I see where you had trouble with your swirls on the lazy susan. I did not go through all the comments but I have a suggestion you could try. Have you thought about having your mold on the lazy susan at first and then pouring from the center and flowing outward while spinning the susan? That should make a nice outward spinning swirl from center to edges. Keep it up!

Great suggestion; I think that would work better too. I'll have to try that!

I haven't heard of anyone else doing this, so YMMV. But if I notice mild soda ash when I'm unmolding, I find spritzing the bars with a little isopropyl alcohol seems to dissolve the soda ash. It isn't a perfect solution, but it does seem to help a bit.

This is a fantastically gorgeous soap. For some reason, I imagined the fragrance would be something perfumey like musk. I dunno why.
