Teri, u were right your kiss pour did come out exactly as cosmic wave( this one). I loved your idea of putting a cardboard stick on top of soap before wrapping it with cling wrap. Once i just started wrapping it and it touches the surface of the soap and spoiled the whole design 🤦🤦 now i know how to correctly do it. I m learning so many techniques from your videos. Thank you❤️😍

Have you thought of having your husband do a video about all the cool gadgets he made for you? I can figure out most of what he made and plan to copy some of them when I get a bit more advanced in my skill set but it would be cool to see if I’m missing anything. There are probably others who would be interested as well. Thanks for your videos, they are informative and easy to follow for this newbie soap maker.

@TreeMarieSoapworks 5 жыл бұрын
Some people are saying that I pronounced it right in the first place. So glad you are learning Angelique! My microbiologist friend said that the sugar "shouldn't work," but it does. I have used it with FO's that accelerate and when I forgot to use it; I could definitely tell the difference.

Hi Teri, your videos are beautiful and I'm enjoying the voiceovers. You're so knowledgeable and it's great to hear your explanations for each of the steps. A couple questions (I'm a fairly new soap maker with maybe 10 batches under my belt): -Why do you add the fragrance to the oils before adding the lye? I know there are plenty of fragrances that don't accelerate trace, but would the scent come through more strongly if the fragrance was added at trace and didn't have that extra time to saponify, or does it not really make a difference? -What do you find works best for reducing soda ash? I like to do designs on top of some of my soaps, so I don't want to trim off that bit. -I like your mold! Can you tell me the dimensions? Thank you!!
@TreeMarieSoapworks
@TreeMarieSoapworks 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Elysa! I add the fragrance to the oils when I know that they won't accelerate too much. I actually think it helps to temper the fragrance so it isn't a huge shock to the batter. (I think this is why some FO's seize when added to the batter, because you are adding cool FO to warm batter and it's quite a shock.) I don't do this method unless I have the all colorants ready. Also if I am using a FO that is known to accelerate, I just pour some of the batch oils into the measured FO, and then divide that into the colored batter. I don't notice any difference in the strength of the FO when I add them at the beginning. Reducing water to 25%" water as a percentage of oils" helps. Cover as quickly as possible. Try not to have too much head space between the soap top and the cover. I don't spray with alcohol, but some find that it works. I force gel by using a heating pad, but lately I have been CPOP'ing or cold process/oven processing. I preheat the oven to 170 and then when I put the covered soap in the oven, I turn the oven off and turn the oven light on and leave it over night. Then in the morning take it out and let it come to room temp before cutting it. If it is too tempting to peak at your soap have some plexiglass sheets cut to the size of the top of your molds, and then cover with plastic wrap. I feel air exposure is what causes soda ash, so don't expose it to air until the saponification is done. I cut the oven processed soap the next day when it cools to room temp. My mold is around 10-5/8" x 6-3/4" Happy Soaping! 💝

Help me here people. This design appears to need slower movements and shaky spout work. I think it would be great to do as a senior but still capable project for a rehab home for the elderly. First off I would do it with my mother who is 83 and still able. I really wanted to do a craft with her while she still can. Right now her husband is not long for this world so she needs a boost of good in her life. I would do one flat mold and be the one to fill the pitchers, low and slow work would be great, what do you think?
@TreeMarieSoapworks

It might work as long as you can keep the soap fluid long enough to design.

Terri, I am loving all your beautiful videos! You are inspiring me to try more color and motion in my soaps. Thank you so much for sharing and for such clear detail. I have bought several tools I never knew I needed and can’t wait to start again. It appears you are working on a marble or granite surface. I have not made soap in my new house yet so I am wondering if I can work directly on the granite counter without damaging the surface. In my old house I thought I needed to cover everything (laminate counters) with plastic table cloths while working with lye.

Best wishes on getting started with more advanced soap making, Catherine! My surface is a faux marble, so I don't know how it would be on that surface, but mine wipes away nicely.

I love simple marbled soap like these however I wish it contained alot more natural ingredients that are actually good for the skin such as avocado, aloes, tumeric, honey etc.. I love to buy soaps that are beneficial for my skin 💕. Right now I am using a natural blend soap which consists of tumeric and citrus.
@TreeMarieSoapworks
@TreeMarieSoapworks 5 жыл бұрын
Oh, that turmeric and citrus sounds wonderful! This batch is natural except for the fragrance. It is very hard to design bars like this with honey and avocado. Honey is gloppy and hard to mix in. I use avocado oil in many of my bars. I use aloe vera liquid once and a while. 💕😊
