This worked perfectly!!! We saw flocked artificial trees with multi-colored LED lights in a Christmas display at a hotel a couple of weeks ago. They were absolutely stunning. I decided that I would look for a similar tree during the black Friday sales. I found a few in local stores, but they all had plain white lights and were at least $300. I found a couple of models online with multi-color lights, but they were even more expensive ($500 and up) and difficult to find in stock As I was searching for an alternative, I came across this video. We bought a beautiful 7 1/2 tree on sale for $89, used this method to flock the tree, added several strands of LED multi-colored lights, and we had the exact look we wanted for less than $150!! We are not very artsy or creative, but this was so easy! Thanks, Kevin!

I bought flocking materials last season and flocked trees, swags, etc. Besides being a mess to work with, I dreaded doing it because the snow particulates were heavy in the air and I coughed the entire time I used it - couldn't have been a good thing to expose myself to.. i just found your video after searching how to make my own flocked garland. i've tried, with zero success, to find any flocked garland for my fireplace to match my tree this year. I just purchased some plain garland, battery operated fairy lights and a can of santa snow spray at michael's. i'm so excited to try this tomorrow to add to my christmas decorations!! thank you so much!!

I would recommend you do this outside & with a dust mask on. Plus putting newspaper under the branch you can have easy clean up. Good video.

I did this today. I didn’t add the popcorn patch spray though. I just used white spray paint i sprayed it on heavy to make it look more white and WOW turned out great, so much cheaper than buying a white tree. Make sure you let your tree sit for about 2 weeks the max to let the chemical smell go away!

This year (2015) I bought two five foot snow flocked trees pre-lit. One was beautiful and heavily flocked but the other not so much. I had already seen this video from Kevin and decided to try it. OH MY GOSH!!!!! It matched the commercial flocked tree exactly! I could not tell which was which checking the branches once dried. Thank you Kevin, you're the best!!

I know this video is super old....but I did this to my tree last year, and I plan on doing it this year too. My tree looked really cute and I didn't have to send $300 on a flocked tree. Snow in the can is the best for diy holiday projects.

PLEASEtll me that the popcorn spray wont be somehow destroyed by cold or hot temperatures, that it will withstand wet snow or rain without damage or any kind of outdoor environment and that it would neither fade or yellow from sun exposure or storage in hot attic.

Probably LED or miniature lights would work without yellowing issues because they are cooler to begin with. This is a great idea since I like the "frosted" look, not necessarily the flocking. But it looks better than the commercial flocking I've seen.

Well I will be darned! That was going to be my first question, "Does it yellow?" I remember flocking trees and what a mess. Probably wouldn't work so hot with lights on it. Would cover the cords but completely paint over the light bulbs. I remember back when we had the big bulbs we would take all the bulbs out and string the tree - then flock it - then play hunt and peck trying to find the empty sockets. If the flocking got on the bulbs it would turn orange and yucky.

I can readily believe that using outdoor paint would be ok with outdoor garlands but does it matter whether it's water or oil based. My other concern is about the popcorn spray since they are not meant for outdoor use. Thanks so much for sharing this tip! I have a can of that stuff i bought for the walls at my old house and never used it. I am a diy and holiday lover so i will definitely be using it for this now ❤ I bought a flocked tree a couple years ago and it is such a mess! I wouldn't mind just the snow falling off, but it sticks to everything! It was so stuck to my clothes after decorating the tree and didn't come off even after washing the clothes! It also stuck to many of the ornaments and garland. It's really beautiful but I have not used it since, because the thought of the mess it makes stresses me out! I was kind of wondering if I poured a bunch of baby powder on it to adhere to the adhesive they used to attach the snow maybe that would keep it from sticking to everything. Or maybe adding more snow 🤔

I actually tried this and it flaked off like crazy!!! It did not work for me at all. I ended up finding another recipe using white school glue, lightweight spackling and white caulk mixture. It did not flake at all! The ratios were a bit tricky and I don't remember them at the moment but I commented on a video with the ratios and I'm trying to find it.
