Of course all the accessories I had add to the cost as well but the bike does comes very well Equipped

@@sollieutube Yes, I remembered your thread and how this was discussed..so I had the shop update the firmware to the 85NM :). I lowered the seat and the top rack today cause it was so hard for me to swing my leg up and over.. Was better after I lowered the seat.. I am 6"1", but still like to be able to sit on the seat and flat foot the ground. With the top rack still set high, I found that to be an issue at this point so I took it off. Now I can get my leg around much easier.. Not sure if I will put the rack back on or not. How the heck do you get on the bike when you mount a box on your top rack? Outside of that I had a problem pairing my android to the cobi.bike app, but finally after restarting my phone I was able to get it paired ok.. I will try it tonight.

@@randyd9343 I remember the day I could no longer swing my leg up and over my seat and rack bag, I thought it was the end of my riding any bike with a rack and trunk bag. I am now approaching 72 years old and the old dog learned a new trick a while back. There is no bike I can not mount now. The secret is to ......... Lay the bike down... toward you... as if to put it down on it’s side, at about a 45 degree angle with the ground. At this position you can step through and across the top triangle of the bike (between the handle bar area and the seat) put your right foot on the ground and pull the bike back to a vertical position. My trunk bag can be 10 foot off the ground, and I can still mount the bike very easily. With a little practice it becomes second nature. At my age and flexibility I could never swing my leg over most any of bikes, but with technique I have no problem mounting any bike. I hope that helps.

Oh, by the way, I just totaled my outside and inside riding total mileage for the 2020 year (adjusted for electric biking miles being counted at about 70% or so for real miles logged) and road 14,147 miles. Since 2000 I have pedaled just over 7.007 times around the world. I bet I have fixed over 500 flat tires. If I average 16 mph on an electric assisted ride of 20 miles (Which I would have averaged 12 mph with the power totally off) I only count the total miles to be 15. (12/16 times 20) This way I feel my total miles is realistic. If I reported my actual miles for last year I am sure it would be well over 18,000 miles.

how does the power delivery compare with a hub drive with cadence sensor? I have ridden lower line Bosch mid drives(65 NM) and I feel that they make you work too hard compared to a hub drive
@sollieutube
@sollieutube Жыл бұрын
This bike is 85 NM and on Sport (3) and Turbo (4) MODE’S the motor system supplies you with almost effortless power. Of course my 1000+ (1300 max) watt Juiced Scorpion X is a little faster and is all power, even though I can pedal it. The Scorpion X has a throttle which I rely on for the power. If I don’t use the throttle I think this Bosch bike out performs the Scorpion X. I almost have to use the throttle in “RACE MODE” on the Scorpion X to reach 30-31 mph. Since this is a MID drive it is more efficient, and utilizes the 10 speed gearing of the bike. It climbs very well. This bike costs much more than a HUB motor bike, but is a pleasure to ride. The gear shifting, the brakes and handling are a shear joy.

Hi, sol I was thinking about how to attach the MTX track bag to the Trek Allant+8 for a few days, but at the time, I saw this video and shouted, 'That's it!; What surprised me even more was that the MTX beamrack was mounted on a rack of Allant+8s. As I checked, the material for fixing was not included in the components of the MTX beamrack product. If so, can you explain to me how to fix it? The moment I saw this video of your Allant bike with the MTX track bag attached, it was like meeting an oasis in the desert. Just purchased the Allant+ 8S yesterday and picking up this weekend. I'm very interested in the seat post rear rack you have ... where did you find it ?? The Seat Post rear rack I bought from REI , it is a Topeak MTX Beam Rack bike rack and the Suspension seat post is the Cane Creek Thudbuster 31.6mm . The length of the seat post of the Allant is 400 mm in length.

Hey Sol... I just wanted to ask you about your rear rack. I checked out the one you recommended from REI and noticed they have (3) styles of this Rack. They have one where the mount in relation to the rack is basically horizontal. They have one that the mount points downward (Which I believe is the one you have) and the that the Mount points upward. It looks like when you mount a bag or box with yours the object is very close to the seat. I wonder if the horizontal mount version would drop the rack down a little bit more so the objects that are mounted to the rack sit a little more offset and farther away from your seat.. I know that if you are keeping both racks you have to have the top one a bit higher than the fender rack provided.. So that could be a challenge too.. Any thoughts on this?
@sollieutube
@sollieutube 4 жыл бұрын
You are right, the seat does come close to the Rack Bag with REI mounting choice I used. So, to tell you the truth, I don't "click in my bag", I use a small bungie cord, attached to the bag and mount, that allows the bag to push back when I need it too. I never explored the other REI choices with regard to this problem. It is possible another style of this rack would work better. I do know I have plenty of room between the bottom of my rack to the rear tire. Also, for more stability, I have added a piece of thin aluminum that I attached diagonally from the top left attachment point of the rack to the bottom right attachment of the bikes built-in rack. This keeps everything from shifting when your back is loaded. That was the best improvement ever.

@@sollieutube When I get my bike I will look at the geometry of the 3 style racks to see the difference. I also have a Blackburn heavy duty rack on one of my other bikes that I thought I may mount to the 8S. If I go that route I will probably have to remove the 8S standard Rack. I will have to look to see if I can remove it without having to remove the rear fender as well. But with the rack, probably wouldn't need the rear fender anyway. Plus the fact that I probably will never ride my bike in the rain. But your setup looks fine, and I think you did a great job outfitting it with your selected accessories. I was curious what style of panniers fits the standard 8S rear rack. Would you happen to know. Or did you just wing it and got lucky that your bag fit.

Have you herd, They may issue a firmware update to this Motor allowing 85 newton max vs the current 75 Newton power output max. It is unclear if the firmware is for just Cargo and MTB applications or for the Speedline motor as well. Some news stories say it is, others say no.

I took my first modest distance ride today.. (about 20 miles). My Galaxy 10S phone seemed to fit the holder pretty tightly. But I added a couple rubber bands just in case since others said they lost their phones after hitting bumps. This was also the first time I used the COBI app. Not sure how it all works yet. I had paired my phone to both COBI and my bluetooth speaker and connected to Pandora. When I switched to the music part of the app it didn't seem to connect correctly.. But it let me adjust the volume from my pandora music app. I had to kind of press and hold or press it a few times to get it to change the volume .. Didn't seem that fluid. But was fun passing all the other bikes on the trail including the wanna be jocks (haha). I was blasting rap music, which acts as a good point of awareness to get everyone out of the way while you are riding.. :) ..

I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max, and though I don't jump curbs or go off road much, the phone has never come out of the COBI holder. I bet your bike is fast, I have a lotta xtra weight on my bike from the aol accessories, and especially my xtra battery and holder on the bike. Still, it is quite fast! Enjoy. I'm still lookin online for some panniers.. The Ortlieb seems to be pretty decent, but people complain about the plastic hooks breaking off. They had some red/black ones that I thought would match my red bike :). Other than that I think i need to figure out the right CO2 setup for fixing flats and I should be done with accessories for the time being. However I have a set of Nightrider lights on my other bike that I love. They are much brighter than the ones on the Allant. so I am going to purchase extra mounts and just move them to the Allant. Looking for a Trek bike mid mount motor. 750 watts. Trek does not set up there site to search for wattage and motor power. I am also looking for torque sensor
@sollieutube
@sollieutube 3 жыл бұрын
Trek predominately sells Bosch electric bikes, which work with a torque sensor as well as a cadence sensor and speed of the vehicle to achieve a very effective implementation. Bosch rates their motors Using newton meters rather than wattage. Watts also aren’t a great gauge of how powerful a motor feels. “Think of watts as the energy a motor will consume, not what it puts out”. Bosch has 4 motor types, ranging from 40 N meters max to 85 N meter max. All my bikes use the Bosch motor, and I’ve never had any problems with them and each bikes has at least 3500 miles or more on them. I guess you get what you pay for as bosch is very expensive but is extremely reliable.

@@sollieutube I went to a trek place on route one south Florida close to Pompano and the guy there told me mid mount motors don't have throttles and then 10 minutes down the road a shop let me drive a mid mounted bike with a throttle. I really don't know who to trust.
@sollieutube
@sollieutube 3 жыл бұрын
@@Capronice Well up until about a year ago I could not find any mid motor bikes that had a throttle, and then I finally discovered that there actually are a bike or two with mid motors and throttles. Actually, my first E bike had a throttle and I like to use it off the line, but it was horrible with the motor lagging before kicking in. But now all my bikes are mid motor and really don’t require a throttle. at least a bosch systems are quite responsive using the torque sensor supply your power needs. I still would like to have a throttle or at least a button I could hold in that would give me maximum torque off the line, however you realize you’re tearing up your drive train with a mid motor when you apply full power and you’ll be replacing your changing gears more often. The Bosch system actually senses shifting and cuts the power slightly to reduce wear on your drive train. I wouldn’t blame the Trek salesman, As he’s probably unaware of the existence of such a combination, and certainly Trek does not offer that, as do none of the very high-quality bike manufactures. My truck store has been very good to me as all my bikes have between three and 4000 miles on them and as a customer they help me replace the chains an upgrade the firmware very systematically, and quickly. I have never had a problem with my Trek/Boush motor/battery systems....the quality/service justifies the price. I am a very happy customer.

Sol, have you tried CO2 to for tire repairs? I use the 16G cartridges on my road bike and they work great. I get near 120psi from what I can remember. I wasn't sure about the Allant though.. I do carry 3 cartridges (16G) for emergency, but usually rely on my miniature quality hand pumps So I really don't know is 16g would fill the tire. I was told that CO2 leaks out more quickly (size of molecules) than normal "air", and after using them in a pinch, you should let the CO2 out and refill the tire when you get home to you "air station". On a funny note, I have Alexa hooked up to my Air Compressor in the Garage with a smart switch, and when I need to fill up a tire I just say "Alexa, turn on the air compressor". @@sollieutube sounds like you have all the gadgets (haha). Well I suppose I will bring a small pump as well just in case till I can confirm the CO2 works. One thing you can't forget on this bike is the proper Allen socket to remove the wheel. I made sure I tossed that in my bag. Since I haven't picked up a good pannier yet I am using my front bag from my other bike and strapped it to the back like a small panier. I used a bungee to bridge along the inner side near my wheel to prevent the bag from swinging into the spokes of my wheel.. seems to work pretty well. One other thing that a buddy of mine mentioned with his Trek Mountain Bike is that the integrated frame mount batterys have a tendency to pop off and get damaged. I have had an Trek Allant 8S for 2 months or so now and absolutely love it. I recently traveled to North Georgia mountains and climbed the hills with ease with 75nm of torque climbing hundreds of feet. I just updated the motors firmware to 85 nm but hard to discern the difference in Florida without hills. The speed motor is very responsive and feels pretty natural. 28 miles per hour is easy to get too. The only problem I have had is with the phone hub. My phone has fallen out a few times when hitting some jarring bumps in the road, and today the phone hub connector plastic clam-shell actually broke, Bosch IMO needs to re-engineer the way the phone is held but I love the concept. This seems to be a flaw in the bike but it is under warranty and will be replaced by the Trek store I bought it from. I have not had a problem with the hub mounting mechanism. I have the latest iPhone 11 pro max and the hub has held the phone quite well through all my rides. my problem has been with the app not registering all my rides, the compass always pointing in the wrong direction which is blamed on Apple lab system, and my contact list constantly changes as to who I can call. The only problem I’ve had with the bike was a flat rear tire. Believe it or not I had installed the Tannus tire inserts for flat protection, however the inner tube that was installed was too big and eventually rubbed together causing a hole. The great thing was I was able to ride home on the flat tire because the inserts still create volume and substance to the tire even if it’s flat. It’s kind of like a run flat tire on a car, however they do recommend you only ride less than 10 km.

@@FM-us3rd I have had no problems with the phone mount yet, but I have also taken 2 strong rubber bands and added additional protection by strapping my phone to the holder. Another thing is there are many different phones, phone thicknesses and phone cases with different thicknesses. I have a Galaxy S10 with the basic thin rubber case and it fits like a glove. Now if I had a thicker smoother texture phone cover it may slide out easier.. But either way if you use some rubber bands or you can construct some thin mil clear plastic to strap across the phone and holder it will hold your phone in place and make it very hard to encounter those unwanted accidents. I have read some places where it will be available on the speed line motor we have for 2020 and I’ve read elsewhere that it will be limited to the cargo and mountain bike applications. Due to the lockdown I will haven’t been able to visit my truck store I’ll see if they’ll confirm it but usually I know more than they do about any updates. They will update the firmware and then I’ll let you know when I finally do it later this summer if in fact we getting that extra 10 N to go to 85 N

They may issue a firmware update to this Motor allowing 85 newton max vs the current 75 Newton power output max. It is unclear if the firmware is for just Cargo and MTB applications or for the Speedline motor as well. Some news stories say it is, others say no

SOL, I want to buy this bike. Are you happy with the power and the performance?
@sollieutube
@sollieutube 4 жыл бұрын
I am very happy with the power and performance especially since the newest firmware update added 10Nm of more power to the motor. I own 5 E-bikes and this is the fastest one. My Electra Café Moto Go, also a 28 MPR bike, does not have quite the same amount of power but certainly both will achieve that higher soeed. The Allant+ 8s requires less effort to sustain that speed. The only thing about this bike is it’s an aggressive riding position. If you notice, I changed the stem on the bike so I could be in a more upright position. At 71 years old, I’m more inclined to go for a position of comfort. Also the extra weight on this bike (the extra battery, bags and tools) is hardly even noticed with regard to acceleration and speed.

Debating between Vado 4.0 turbo versus allant 7 + vs allant 8 +. Staggered spec I understood. But what’s 7s and 8 s?!? Can you pls highlight key differences between 7 and 8?
@sollieutube
@sollieutube 4 жыл бұрын
The difference between the allant+ 7 and 8 Is that the seven is a reduced component set so you don’t get as large a battery (625 vs 500 watt hours), you don’t get quite as good gear train (10 speed vs 9 and quality), you don’t get the same electronic display, and the tires are smaller on the seven, but you are given a Front suspension fork on the 7. personally I think the 8 is a better deal at its slightly higher price.

So far I have gone 3,852 miles on the Allant+ 8s, with no issues at all. The recent update went perfectly with no issues. My other Bosch bikes I purchased last year have the Cafe Moto Go at 3,878 miles, the Trek Verve+ at 3,152 miles, the Tern Vectron S10 at 2,710 miles and the Electra Townie Go at 1,498 miles. I have been busy riding! I have maybe 400 miles on my non electric Trek carbon fibre bike. The only issue I have had was with one of my bikes not recognizing the battery. Thinking that the battery has a computer in it as well as the motor and the display, I held in the power button of the battery for 10 seconds ....rebooting the the battery fixing the problem. First time I had that issue bike store insisted I needed firmware update! That probably rebooted the battery as well, but not needed. Hope your enjoying the ride!

So slow and easy pedaling on turbo will get you how fast?
@sollieutube
@sollieutube 3 жыл бұрын
if you can not do 20 mph on turbo with little effort I would be very surprised! Please note that the firmware for this motor control is designed (skewed) to kick in more power after 20 so you can moe easily reach 28 mph. In Turbo I believe you have about 360% increase to the power you are pedaling. I can reach 20 mph in Touring mode (2) with just an easy sprint type input. I actually hardly ever use turbo except to get out of the rain, make it home ASP or outrun the dog 4 streets over.......

My plan is to get the Allant+ 8s and add a the Allant 7s shocks and rack. Then it is ready ... You would have thought they would have carried the 7S shocks and rack over to the 8s.
@sollieutube
@sollieutube 4 жыл бұрын
Well first the shock adds more weight, and might not be necessary if you ride on flat surfaces. Maybe just a seat post suspension would all that would be needed. On the other hand, the extra weight will not hinder this powerful e-bike! Yes if you pump these tires to the higher pressure it will deliver a rough ride at high speed. The bike is so much more comfortable with my tannus tire inserts which allow for lower tire pressures and way less flats. Good luck, its a great bike either way...

@@sollieutube Thanks for your reply... I visited my dealer this weekend and they had the RED and brushed silver like yours . I'm thinking of going with the Silver.. A bit less flashy, I think yours looks great. I didn't consider the weight factor of the front forks before, and I think the Thud Buster (I believe was the name) that allows you to add the shock absorption from the seat post is a great idea.. Outside of that your seat post rack solves the issue with the lousy rack provided.. But I guess as you demonstrated it can still be used to hold your paniers. My only other concerns are the seat, cell phone mount, and motor noise. I read how the latest Gen...I think was the Gen 5 on the newest models have a louder noise coming from the motor. I haven't confirmed this yet. Hopefully it is no real issue. Many have reported their cell phones coming loose in the provided mount. But I was shown a 3rd party mount that you can use that solves that problem. Have you had issues with your phone coming loose? Were you happy with the stock seat.. I tried the larger spring seat style on my road bike and really made a huge difference in comfort.
@sollieutube
@sollieutube 4 жыл бұрын
@@randyd9343 I have no problem with the Bosch display phone mount, never had my phone come off. That is probably because I don’t jump curbs or abuse my wheels, as way in the past when I did, I broke lots of spokes. So that is why I have no issues with my phone coming out. I did change out my seat, but I have to admit the one that came with the bike is just as comfortable and I probably should not have tried a different seat. As far as the noise of the motor, it is not as quiet as my Bosch powered Verve+, but much quieter than my 28 mph Electra Cafe Moto Go with the older generation speed motor. The Cafe Moto Go is twice as loud under high cadence. You can hear the motor noise on my KZbin video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmHPnpifYstsf9k

@@sollieutube Thanks for your responses and sharing your accessories and other recommendations. I didn't expect needing so many additional accessories until reading your comments and consulting with the bike store salesperson. You would think a bike of this expense would be pretty much ready to go, but guess we couldn't be that lucky. I am certainly going to replace the pedals cause the originals are very cheap. I am liking the Chester Pedals, seems like a good value. From what I am reading though you have to really be careful as many people report getting hurt due to the long extended screws protruding from those long paddle type pedals. Next I would like to get the seatpost rack like you have. I noticed there are (3) different varieties of your REI Topeak seatpost rack. REI lists a Small , Medium, and Large. One seems to horizontal , the other dips downward toward the seat post, and the other Dips upward. I plan to get the XL frame bike, which rack do you have specifically? Outside of that I will probably get a medium sized front handle bar bag and a set of paniers that will fit the original rack.. Do you know which paniers are compatible? Thanks again for sharing your info.

Caius, i have the Domane + HP 7, but I also own a Verve +3 companion bike. I weigh 260#'s. What you will find with these bikes no matter what the model is: the bike will support your weight, but your battery range will suffer. My riding partners that weigh much less will only use a fraction of the battery capacity I do regardless of the output/speed. I may use twice as much or more as them with an identical climb profile. it's not as noticeable on the flats. Hope this helps you.

The bike tells me about 175 to 180 miles left on Echo when completely fully charged both batteries. I hardly ever use anything beyond sport, so I can go 100 miles in a day and not even think twice. I’ve never gotten off the bike with the batteries lesson about 60% for a ride. Since I have many other electric bikes I ride more than one each day. Being a mid drive with really nice tires it’s a very efficient bike and with the dual batteries it has a lot of range
