Nice video. I got a 56 cm checkpoint and I’m 5’ 9” it fits and has room but I’m worried it’s a littttle big. What size is yours?

I ride a 52. I’m 5”8 to 5”9 depending on the measurement. 30 inch inseam. I’m in between a 52 and 54 and went 52 because of the stand over height and the reach. I normally say to size down one size on a checkpoint unless you have rode that size and determined it works for you.

@@thewisconsingravelcyclist Thanks for the reply. It feels oddly comfortable because my old bike felt cramped. But I'm basically at the 30 day return policy and haven't been on a ride longer than 2 hours. Luckily the 2 hour long ride felt fine and no pain. I will say the larger frame feels a little less nimble and it's not as easy to throw the bike around. But it feels good on the roads and at high speeds. It's such a tough decision.

Thanks for the great videos. I have the same Trek SL5. I would like to get the Terske Self Locking nuts. Could you please put a link to the mountain screws in the chat? Sorry, but it is difficult to see in the video.

So I went with some 32 Michelin's now I think I should have bought a road bike... last question lol should I ask the shop I just bought it from to trade it in on a Emonda? Or just keep the sl5 and try to make it more of a road bike? First bike if you can't tell.

If you dont plan on riding much gravel then am emonda might be the way to go. But the max tire size on an emonda is a 28 may be a 30. If you want a racy feeling bike fast on pavement and emonda is great and cant go wrong. But, if you want some versatility maybe consider a Domane. They can go up to a 38 mm tire so you would have the ability for some gravel if you want. The new Domanes are very very nice and have been lightened up a fair amount. Ride am emonda and a Domane and see what feels best. Good luck !!

What is the name of the bolt you use to fill the bosses?

They are the Terske Blanking screws. I found them on amazon. I needed two packages for all bosses. Thanks for the comment!

what tire pressure would ride for a mostly road day
@thewisconsingravelcyclist
@thewisconsingravelcyclist Жыл бұрын
For mostly road if Im not changing tires and still have the Bontrager GR1s on I run 45 in the rear and 42 in the front. I weigh about 190 lbs. Keeps nice and comfortable without going really high on the pressure. I havent noticed a big difference from when I run 40 rear and 38 front for a mostly gravel day. sram also has a calculator for tire pressure that works pretty good and can give you a good start on where your tire pressure should be.

Would you replace tires with gr1s I am finding i’m riding more on roads than gravel but I still like the durability just in case I hit some shit roads. Any tires recommendations?
@thewisconsingravelcyclist
@thewisconsingravelcyclist Жыл бұрын
@@purpskurp8737 Honestly I would not replace tires with GR1s. The GR1s are pretty puncture resistant but overall they dont seem to last a real long time and they are not a very fast tire. I have had very good luck with the Pirelli Cinturato Gravel H in a 40 mm. Fast on both road and gravel and much more supple and forgiving than the GR1. I have also heard good thing about the maxxis recptors.
