I have one. It is a big leap from department store bikes. As you go up from there, for us casual riders, the law of diminishing returns kicks in. The clutch on the derailer keeps the chain tight. I ride mine on desert mountain trails, roads, and gravel.

Great review, thank you, can I ask what the brand is for your bike carrier for your SUV? I need one and like your design, looks pretty easy to onboard/offboard the bike! Thank you very much, happy pedaling. Brian

I've never seen a lock mounted horizontally behind the saddle, doesn't it catch the back of your legs when pedalling? I'd have it vertically mounted if possible to keep the profile minimal. I'd also use a cable with the D lock to secure the wheels :)

Best thing you can do regarding the seat comfort is to invest in a proper pair of bike shorts. Its the easiest way to turn tough 2 hour rides into easy 6 hour rides.

I was hoping to upgrade Scott aspect 940 ( loved that bike ) to a 1x10. It then got stolen about 2 weeks ago. The trek marlin 7 was in my price range with a 1x10. I do like it & it feels solid. I do like the seat

btw is a mountain bike for trail riding so its gonna have a small and thin seat because on trails you arent really sitting

Great point, and the seat really isn't a gripe with the Trek Marlin 7, it is a great bike. Seat was just a simple fix for my preference or riding. Thank you for the feedback and thanks for watching 👍

1x10 gear set slips 2 rides in ! on 10th gear ( on the road)! common issue with this bike it appears . If I had the chance I would have thrown my money away on something else. Sure it looks good but for me what's the point is it don't work. !
@WhyBuy3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your feedback theo, we appreciate the heads up. Have you been in touch with Trek at all about this? Wondering if there is a fix or way to prevent the gears from slipping. Haven't noticed the issue on our end, but if you find anything, let us know!

I got a trek marlin 7 and I rode it 8.5 miles on the first day. Some on road some in dirt but basically if of it was on road. I see some small scratches on the front fork is that normal? They are not chips just small scratches. Is it damaging

This is a large size bike. For me being about 6' and 180 lbs., I could have gone medium or large, I think the medium would have felt to small for me. Hope this helps!
