Just wait until you see the new reiteration of a Battleship (yes, we will be building them again), called the Enterprise which will be equipped with .............. Get this ............... Plasma Cannons. This is not Star Trek, this is real world. The new Enterprise Battleship is on the drawing board and almost ready to go into production. The Plasma Cannons will be a nice touch and a nod to future weapon systems. They take an ungodly amount of power to fire them and they do have some "targeting quirks" that need to be worked out first, but the Plasma Cannons will be able to be fired over a thousand miles inland from sea. They will be able to level a city block in under 2 minutes and this includes highrise buildings. Basically, anything made out of steel, stone, brick, block, etc. will be reduced to a liquid that will remain in the liquid state for quite some time afterward. This means underground bunkers will be useless as well since they will be sealed in once the liquid solidifies. Real World USS Enterprise Battleship and its Plasma Cannons are going to revolutionize warfare to the next level. Once they can get the power needs down, they could literally put them in aircraft as well as Starships for the US Space Force. What do you want to bet the first armed Spacecraft for the US Space Force will be called "Enterprise"??? LOL.

As a fan of most things Star Trek since 1987, I can honestly say I enjoy the Kelvin timeline movies and the updates to the ships in the movies. If it had not been for these 3 movies, there is a good chance a friend of mine would not be a Trek fan now. These movies made Trek (in his words) kinda cool to him, he could almost understand why I have been a fan for so long. Then he watched episode 1 of Picard before I did, and text me "Ok, this show is bad ass", then after that 1st season of Picard, he went back and watched the original series, TNG, and he absolutely LOVES Deep Space Nine. Now, he knows my pain growing up, waiting for the next season of the current show(s) to begin feeling like a crack head needing their next fix lol.

Nothing wrong with being different, it's still good! :) A part of me actually enjoys the Kelvin Enterprise more than the others, simply because of the higher fidelity of the ship being depicted; we get to come closer and see way more detail than with the older ships, because you can't cram this much detail onto a physical model to begin with, and you can't do the close-up camera moves either because physical cameras are bulky and would interfere with the model itself. But I love 'em all. They've each got their own unique charm, and I wouldn't want it any other way. Live and let live, I say. :)

It's like a celebrity who has had way too much plastic surgery and yet is still convinced they look great. The refit-looking saucer doesn't match the curving lines of the secondary hull. The nacelles are WAY too big and chunky, and the struts too far forward and curved for no appreciable reason. The bridge is so white and bright that I suspect the crew's eyes would ache after a shift. It all just combines into a package that screams "too much!" in its every aspect.

The TMP design was a progressive in-canon upgrade & is a beautiful ship that keeps everything that worked on the TOS design, used the changed stuff on the Phase 2 design, & gave it a sleek look. The JJ-prise on the other hand, is meant to be the replacement of the TOS, Phase 2, Refit, & A due to the different far too into the future technology and only got the saucer right. The nacelles look too much like the Doomsday Machine, the bottom of the neck is too far back on both the front & back of the secondary hull, the shuttle bay is cavernous, the pylons are the worst pylons next to the Enterprise-J, & the whole thing is both too huge & fails to follow both the rule of thirds & the golden ratio.

My model kit and toy versions of the "Star Trek" ships weren't exact duplicates of what was seen in the series before it was digitally remastered. So I grew up being used to different aesthetics of the exterior design. So the new ones in the new movies didn't bother me. They look much better than the balloons made starship shaped! 😁 Or the birthday cake candles! 😂 The "Two Ships" episode of "Designated Survivor" has a good scene that visually shows off the "Star Trek" influence on ship bridge designs. Supposedly the "Arleigh Burke-class" uses such bridge designs. In the episode though, when the destroyer gets rammed by a garbage barge scow, the crew tumbles and consoles explode as if it were the "Starship Enterprise ™️"! 😂 I wonder if so many people hadn't seen "Laverne & Shirley" or beer commercials or worked in breweries if the movie would have been less scoffable. 🤔 If people would have just seen it as the potable water and sewage treatment facilities of Engineering? 🤔

It's not, it's horrendous and impractical and non futuristic, particularly things like the brewery engine room with a concrete floor. A lot of it is mangled and out of proportion, not just compared to other Star Trek but just in general like the engines looking bow-legged and far too close together, it would have been better for him to just create a completely different kind of Science Fiction show or a Star Trek show set in a different time rather than trying to overwrite what already has been done. His work with Star Trek and Star Wars will be looked back on as truly disrespecting and destroying well thought out and appealing franchises into pale imitations of things he was attempting to copy but ended up warping, pun intended, in the process. Yes, even aesthetically, another simple example is the bridge is a blindingly white, illogically arranged mess with indicator lights all the way down on the floor and so many ridiculous elements that are not even pleasing to the eye, as opposed to the logically arranged workplace originally designed that was so well done that it was actually copied by real life military command centers. JJ Abrams visions are just flash without substance.

After all, you know he did OK in the original universe (because old Spock told you) so I'm sure even without all the training and experience he's going to do fine. I also wished they had kept it at the original length which was supposed to be just a little bit longer than the original Connie Refit. Not the gigantic version that is official and I refuse to accept that scale. I too laughed at the "super fun happy slide for Scotty". I really wished that they had gone with Gabriel Koerner's Enterprise that was apparently submitted to the team that was developing the Trek 09 movie. I justified the huge, cavernous engineering secondary hull as they had some cool, advanced tech but not in adjacent areas. Better nacelles but not better warp cores. The clunkier original warp cores were not capable of providing enough power for such a massive ship so they just made them bigger. They also had to get bigger tanks to hold more deuterium and anti-deuterium to power the reactors to produce the extra warp plasma. As Starfleet engineers went along, warp cores became more efficient and smaller and more of the secondary hull could be used for other purposes. I imagine as the Kelvin timeline came closer to the TNG era that ships started to look and feel more like the Prime timeline ships.

I like the fan theory the main reason for such a massive departure was sensors showed just how drastically different shields could be formed and laid out, that would change how you would start to think about ship design. From "giant bubbles" to skin like and overals/overlays, and even just moving away from that "radar" like sweep weakness TOS Enterprise had the DS9 Defiant took advantage of. It's just a shame in actual design, they didn't actually make something that felt like that or look like that (beyond the brew house engine). It's something I would love to see another attempt by someone else make for Federation ships. Though the Star Trek comics that were made for the Kevlin timeline did make some interesting Romulan/Klingon jumps that fit that type well enough.

Actually as I understood it, elements of the ship design were not as advance as the main timelines. The more advance the technical civilization the higher the level of miniaturization. In the main timelines miniaturization led to smaller ships since major components were much smaller. The Kelvin universe had massive plumbing in comparison to main timelines due to this technical retardation probably due to Valcan's demise affecting many technological projects in many races. I wonder if they'll ever be a JJ Abrams version of the Enterprise-D?

I honestly thought the Kelvin designs for Federation ships was a fairly decent interpretation of the older stuff. The exterior being a lot better than interior designs imo. They were just different enough in their look to be their own thing, but still are clearly firmly rooted in earlier designs. I can't say I have liked the designs of the stuff that has come since the Kelvin movies (but to each their own). caveat: Personally I really liked the NX-01, C and E as far as Enterprise goes.

The Prime Timeline Sovereign-class NCC-1701-E remains my personal favorite Enterprise. The Enterprise from The Original Serious is like an iconic and much beloved 1957 Chevy Bel Air. The refit NCC-1701 from The Motion Picture and the replacement NCC-1701-A are more like a 1961 Chevy Impala SS409 sport coupe. The Galaxy-class NCC-1701-D is like a huge, luxurious yet powerful Cadillac Escalade-V. Ahhh, but the NCC-1701-E is the McLaren Speedtail of the franchise. "Make it so."

I’ve always loved the overall shape of the TOS enterprise and the variants that came after. The reboot Enterprise was a bold design. It didn’t take me long to prefer the more organic look and style. I still love them all though. Of the future main timeline Enterprises it took me a while to appreciate the D, the C was a complete disgrace of design, and the E was another favorite.

Probably not a popular opinion but the ST2009 Enterprise grew on me over time, as well as the STID version with its subtle changes - overall I think this version is the best-looking design out of the 4 variations (3x1701, 1x1701A) of the Kelvin-verse. Sure, I would have made some slight changes to it -- maybe not have the front end of the engineering hull stick out so much but I love the look of the nav deflector, a mix of STMP refit and TOS 1701. I also would have made the nacelles be more spread apart by about a nacelle-width -- and the ship would have been perfect for me. Now, I'm NOT a fan of the STB refit (that got destroyed) with the thin, swept-back pylons, smaller nacelles -- the whole ship was thinned out to make it look overly vulnerable and I think I heard that was done on purpose for the movie. I don't like how it looks from the orthos, particularly from the side and the top -- the nacelles are too thin and too close to each other. Then there's the Kelvin 1701A -- and I was disappointed in that reveal. It's frickin ugly and I am a 1000% not a fan. Looking at 3D models of it, it has weird shapes - I HATE the weirdly shaped pylons, I hate the overall design choices. I hate the lack of imagination (compared to the ST09 OG variant) in the nacelles (and the pylons). I even hate how the registry and the name of the ship is displayed on the bottom of the saucer -- it's confusing and tacky IMO because it looks like the saucer is flipped over -- not how I would have done that for sure; I would not have put anything on the bottom of the saucer. I think the Kelvin A is a BACKWARD attempt at trying to improve the aesthetic/design of the original ST09 1701. Since I'm a BIG fan of the STMP Constitution refit -- THAT is MY GOAT, and since there was some inspiration from that ship on the OG 1701 Kelvin Enterprise I have an appreciation for it's look and appeal. Like I said, it's grown on me - I'm ok with it. Don't care about it's size or the Apple-look, but the STB 1701 and the 1701A are garbage.

Yup if they make a new movie they should give the Enterprise the A style worpcore from the TMP movies

How about something phase 2 style.

If I could use one word to describe the JJprise, I would choose "unbalanced." The pylons look too weak to handle the power coming from those massive nacelles; the secondary hull is undercut so much that it looks like it's going to fall backwards. It's not cohesive.

I like a Connie and she's a Connie, like sure nothing going to beat the TOS enterprise in design but yeah still a solid design.

A shiny Enterprise may be understandable if you want to reflect the maximum amount of ambient radiation in certain wavelengths.

It is a cool looking ship. BUT. the original TOS tv show ship is still better.

Khan is NOT fully named in that movie-- he is only referred to as Khan. Spock Prime describes HIS Khan (Noonien Singh) when K-Spock calls him. I point this out to present my theory that Khan is actually a title, not a name-- and THIS Khan is a different guy from the SS Botany Bay (they WERE all "supermen", after all). This is the easiest in-canon explanation as to why Khan bears no resemblance at all to Ricardo Montalban. (Yes, I know this theory is refuted in Strange New Worlds, but I counter that it's reinforced in Picard.)

I love the design. I also love the lore behind why the ship is so large. I also love the vengeance. It's typical section 31. It's also badass. Great video.

Honestly I don’t care if they up date the Enterprise design, a ship from the 1960s isn’t going to fit in with modern films.
