you don't have to mention that the books aren't canon. no books are canon, not even novelizations of episodes/movies

I dont understand why you can critizize something like that. Why not make a Movie About San Francisco in the Star Trek Universe and you will critize it not being Startrek. RIGHT! or About the Earth in the Startrek Universe about how People Leave in 24 Century maybe under the Water "NEW ATLANTIS" or on the DAYSTREEM Academie and you will say that not Startrek. Does every Startrek movie has to all the Time with Fighting a Foe and at the end Starfleet goes out as a Hero

I remember when they made the Contest for the design of the USS titan... I agree with the winning design... Then I read the first book for uss titan... It was okay but overall I Didn't like it, there was even this whiny character who was in love, character acted like an immature kid. Not something I'd expect from an... A Starship personnel

This wasn’t Star Trek. The dialogue barely mentions anything related to Star Trek of substance. Character development was poor and the plot was simplistic and seemed more like an outline. There was no science and no hopeful or inspiring message, all elements I like in Star Trek.

What gets me is that there were only 2 of this class of ship in that abomination of a show. And neither of them were the USS Crossfield. Yes, the first hull laid is not necessarily the first hull completed, but Discovery and Glenn were in service for how long? And in all that time the Crossfield was never finished?

I went to the Trek Central website from the link on their channels page. When I got there a pop up ad with a survey opened. It had an X to close it that did NOT work! The only option was to take the survey. So I closed the tab and I will be moving on! I will not be subscribing to this channel!!! I am also selecting to not see content from this channel from one of their videos!

Because of an ad? Sorry, it’s a bit of an over reaction. Our new site is in development but these things do take time.

Can someone explain to me how Starfleet used Mirandas and Excelsior's for more than a century, but somehow Starfleet retired the Sovereign and Luna class for the Picard series? Or is it assumed it was scrapped after the battle with the Scimitar? Looked pretty fixable to me.

The Miranda class was superior in virtually every observable way to the Constitution class, so I'm not surprised it would have been present in large numbers and used for virtually every function.

I was so excited when they announce the 2009 Star Trek, and then so disappointed when I actually saw the movie… I’m down for any Star Trek… maybe not so much with discovery but… “in a desert, a thirsty man will drink sand…” it was a “interesting “looking enterprise…. I hated the pylons… but the rest of the ship was decent… so not for anything, but I see that you channel is in Great Britain… and I hear an accent on some of the things you say, but sometimes your accent is also very American/United States… is there something that I’m picking up there or is it that KZbin has connected us as a civilization and made the world not so large? Hmmm… imagine that….

Love your videos and love this video also… and can I say …. I know I’m probably alone in this sentiment, but I love the Defiant….lol jk… the Defiant is probably one of if not my favorite vessels for loads of reasons ….but I would’ve liked to seen more of the sovereign other than just the movies. It really was a majestic vessel….. also while in Cannon, I’m sure it is the other way around… but in reality does not the Akira class sort of apparently inspire/inform the design of the NX class… like seriously, take a look at both of them side-by-side… it almost looks like they did. A retro design flipped the nacelles drop the aft weapon pod… and there you have it……..

I would like to see a Star Trek series with more infinite diversity in infinite combinations. I want to see a Star Trek where the main lead, (the captain), is NOT human, preferably one that not near-human like Bajorans, Vulcans, Deltans, nor Betazoids. I want to see a Star Trek where the majority of the crew is non-human. (Sarcastic Vulcan salutes 🖖🏻🖖🏻)
@Emanon...12 сағат бұрын
I think that's a more difficult sell for the normies that casually stream a show. Especially if they're "exotic" ie sheliak, tholian, for or something else non-humanoid. Also probably expensive for a show...
@matthewjay66011 сағат бұрын
@ Wouldn't a Sheliak be mad-fun to portray? They are fastidious with rules. It's either black or white with absolutely NO gray in between. Thank-you for your comment. (Sarcastic Vulcan salutes 🖖🏻🖖🏻.) P.S. Uhura's Tholian named "Bright Eyes" would be a cool addition too.

When people say: "well, this is not real Trek, in Golden Age they wouldn't make such a movie!" Well, they did, and it is called Star Trek TMP. I found some similarities with S31 and TMP. They both started as a pilot for series that was in production loophole, and they both took script from the pilot episode, turned it into a movie, and they both were made looking at the trend in movie industry. In 2020s it was an action flick, but in 1970s it was slow paced sci fi movies. To cut to the point, both movies were heavily directed by the executive board of Paramount. Some other similarities: both were set in a unique era, TMP in 2274 and S31 in Lost Era. Thing that TMP did better was making 2270s feel unique while S31 take on Lost Era was generic. What TMP pulled out of being just a product was a staff of movie veterans that had unlimited budget to place their creativity on screen, and knew how to make a 2hr movie on a bare minimum of script, while S31 had less experienced crew and smaller budget.

The "squished" layout would have made it far more suitable for combat along with the fact it could actually mount a combat pod for increased and sustainable firepower beyond that of the Galaxy. While the Galaxy is eye candy, elegant and graceful looking, the reality is the warp nacelles are extremely exposed being effectively held out on pylons making them easy targets. This is also true for the Galaxy's secondary hull containing critical areas such as engineering and deflector dish while it's "neck" is also exposed and vulnerable. By comparison, the Nebula has no neck and so the large shield-like saucer section covers a lot of secondary hull with those critical areas mentioned and even hides a lot of the warp nacelles as they're mostly tucked tightly under the saucer. This would obviously make the compact Nebula's layout far more combat suitable therefore, and would also force an attacker to have to consider it's line of attack and try to manuever to the Nebula's underside perhaps, which is no easy thing to do unless cloaked given sheer firepower output from the Nebula while attempting that maneuver along with the Nebula itself being a maneuverable ship. Finally, the more compact size would require a smaller shield bubble compared to the Galaxy so it could in theory sustain it's shields for longer or have more power available to divert to other things. But combat prowess aside, even the Nebula's multirole adaptability with interchangeable mission pods would offer a far more role flexibility, superior role capabilities and ultimately shel life compared to the more role specific and therefore limited Galaxy. Once newer superior Federation ships are introduced, we could envisage how that adaptability, flexibility and budget friendly design would see the Nebula-Class in service far beyond the role-specific and expensive Galaxy that would instead be phased out sooner in favor of Sovereigns etc.
