Part 2 - Sirdalsheiane
Sirdal and Setesdalsheiane may not be as well known as Hardangervidda or other national parks in Norway, but this area offers just as beautiful scenery and beautiful untouched nature.
I crossed these landscapes in July 2018, which was extremely dry throughout southern Norway. Even in the Fjell many wetlands were dry and streams dried out. The water levels of the lakes were deep and I could not drink the water everywhere as usual. There were almost no mosquitoes and in the lakes you could swim, where it is normally quit cold.
While it is mostly flat in Setesdalsheiane, the Sirdal region is more mountainous and has more steep slopes to deal with. I visited both regions in a big loop around the Rosskreppfjorden. A wonderful trip that I can highly recommend.

Thank you Heini, for an inspiring video. We want to visit Setersdalheiane too one day. With those nice ponds and lakes Tove will definitely bring with her fishing rods. Some parts in the video looks very much like Austheiane, where we have been. Your close shoots of the birds are amazing. Greetings from Tove and Kaja It’s a rainy day in Langesund today.

Hi sammen, I think you will like this area and it's a beautiful way up there from Langesund. I enjoyed driving myself in my favorite country. That was a new experience and it was not as stressful as on Swiss roads. Btw - that was your good advice to rent a car😄. Rain - this sounds good, especially this summer. I read that in some parts of the country there was already frost? Yesterday we even had the first snow on the mountain (Falknis) across Bad Ragaz. We had also some rain - but it's still to dry. Have a good time in Langesund! Hilsen - Heini

Hi Andrew, unfortunatly I could'nt go to Norway this year. When the weather is good, I hope to go for a short trip in Switzerland soon. Currently I'm working a lot on my video about a natural reserve in my area. I'm filming there during one year and will upload a video next spring. It's a little different from my current videos (no overnighter - more nature and animals). Unfortunatly I dropped my new camera a few days before. Hi, thanks for watching my videos. The weight of the backpack depends on the trip. If you have to carry all the food for the entire trip, you get a lot. The heaviest pack I ever had was 23kg. Then the daily trips are 20, at most 25 km. But it also depends a lot on the path and the ground you are walking on.

Hi Sharron and Martin, thanks for watching and commenting my videos. I sometimes clicked on your channel to verify, if I have missed some video from you. I had a good time in Norway. But I'm worried about the weather if it's so warm and dry even in the north. Here in Switzerland it is also much to warm (today over 25 degrees) and we almost had no rain since Mai. But we can probably not do a lot. Just enjoying the good weather and good time. 3.5 months in the North Atlantic / Scandinavia - that sounds good! And that sounds also like a lot of work looking through tousands of fotos and videos? I'm looking forward to watch your first video about Scandinavia. Which area did you like best? Hilsen - Heini

Gruss Heini

Hi Bjørn, I use a Norrøna Para Ranger 120 - on this trip without side pockets. The empty backpack is already 3,8 kg (with side pockets). This time I had less then 20 kg. It looks haevier then it was, because I had a farmer rest inside (see part one). I prefer this big backpack. I have enough space and have not to compress everything. Thanks for watching - Heini
