This video is based on my experience of trekking to Sandakphu during the pandemic. Here you'll find a detailed sandakphu trek details that you'll need if you're planning your trek after lockdown in 2021.
Sandakphu , being the highest point of Singalila ridge and because of the gorgeous views of sleeping buddha from the summit, it is a point of attraction for many trekkers and tourists looking for a Himalayan trek.
This was my first multiday Himalayan trek and also because I was traveling solo, I didn't want to bear the guide cost entirely on my own. So, I booked this Sandakphu trek package with Himalaya trekkers. Now I can't thank the team enough for the service they provided. First impression matters after all ☺️

A few tips for the first timers:
1. Sandakphu trek Permit - If you're visiting till Tonglu or Tumling, you don't need a permit. It is needed only to enter singalila national park. You can obtain your permit from Manebhunjung. But in case you forgot to make a permit, you can do it from the singalila national park entry check post.
If you're taking the reverse trek route, i.e. Srikhola - Gorkhey - Phalut - Sandakphu, then to go beyond Gorkhey you need an entry permit.
2. Guide : can be hired from the Highlander Guides and Porters welfare association at Manebhunjung. They are also available from Dhotrey and Srikhola (in case you are taking the reverse trek route).
Guide cost - 1000 rs/day. So try to visit in a group to divide the cost.
**Guide is mandatory for the trek as of February, 2021.
3. Network: For me Airtel and Jio were enough. Though Jio connection was really poor but at that high altitude of 3636m, even a few minutes of connection was enough.
4. Timing : its an all year round trek except the monsoon season of may - August.
If you want to see rhododendron throughout the entire trek, March - April is your time.
5. Rules : Some activities that are strictly prohibited throughout the trek - throwing of plastic/ garbage here and there, Habitat destruction, Kindling fire and Trespassing.
The Himalayan region is beautiful and it should be everyone's responsibility to keep the place clean.
And just enjoy your trek, drink a lot of water, take a lot of photos and go back again ✌️
