1:18 there’s a big misunderstanding here, when we say “Yemeni coffee” we don’t mean Yemen the country, yemen is a historical region just like Levantine “Sham” (which is part of four countries Syria, lebanon, palestine and jordan) Yemen as a historical region is between Saudi arabia and Yemen republic, and its part in saudi arabia is larger than the part in yemen Yemen republic have many provinces and the part of Yemen the historical region is only what is called now Northern yemen, the rest of lands in yemen republic aren’t part of the region of yemen, it wasn’t even called yemen before 1990, it was called southern arabia

I worked in the Asir region for many years ( my kids were born in Khamis Mushayt ! ) and spent virtually every day off exploring the region. With a 4 wheel drive it is possible to find and endless succession of stunning wadis , villages , mountains and monoliths. I miss the place very much.

I used to belong to an unofficial natural history group in the Eastern Province. Every few weeks we'd drive up the Dammam-Riyadh Expressway and sometimes drive 1000km off road in the Dahna and camp. my fave region near Dhahran is Hamra Judah - I camped there a lot. I have hundreds of GPS coords from my travels back in the 90s between the Abandoned village Qaryat As Sufla on the old Tapline Road, the Mastodon Bones in the cave roof near there, Shark tooth Wadi, all sorts of cool exploring info which we need to give back to the Saudis themselves now.
