Very impressive restoration work of a station full of character and a certain charm. As you say, it must have been quite something to stand at the top of the ramp amd watch trains passing below. What a loss to lose both stations just a few yards apart. Thank you.

It must have been an amazing spot. Imagine being a rail enthusiast and having the choice of both lines just 100 feet or so apart ❤️

Great video,Ant. I've been following Wobbly Runner's regular updates on the project, so it's brilliant that you could showcase this magnificent project from the Clowne Local History Society to all your subscribers. Very upsetting to have read yesterday that the site was vandalised earlier this week,by mindless local scum. Nothing is safe these days.....

Thank you for this very interesting video presentation which is very much appreciated. It is rather sad that Clowne used to have two stations so close to each other and now they have none. It is great to see the memory of the station is being kept alive by these volunteers.

Great to see you showing this wonderful recreation . Spent many years wandering around here exploring and was a big part of my childhood . My dad who’s 88 remembers these lines well . The line passed at the end of his garden & overnight visitors struggled to sleep cos of the train noises! Lovely to see it being brought back to life

Brilliant video absolutely love this and such amazing work that is been done here by Adam and the Team and thank you for sharing the before shots it shows just how much work has gone into it. As much as I would love to see the platforms extended I really think the grass areas make it all "pop". Definitely going to get myself down to see this when I'm in the area.

It must have taken a lot of work to restore this and the platform, I couldn't imagine how much effort it has taken. I really must take a trip up north sometime. I live in the south of England and never get a chance to travel up north.

Friend of mine, Arthur Dudley, used to have a painting, or print of, with a view of the third Chesterfield Station up where it was, apparently encovered in clap board,, near to where the old Royal Hospital stood, close to where the foot bridge over the by pass is today, from just past where Trebors stood/Arnold Lavers site, just thought I'd say as Clowne Stn reminds, although in brick, very much of the look of this other long gone town rail point. Wasn't it's termini the other vanished town Stn that which stood agin the Portland Hotel, which crossed the blue brick viaduct over Birdholmes Hornes Bridge, (the main line Bridge stlli in operation)?

Shame it is not actually being reopened as a station [either as part of the National Rail network or as a preserved line. However, it is still good to restore as a landmark, perhaps it could become an open air museum. I went to an open air museum some time back in the 90s [or maybe late 80s] at Amberley just N of Arundel in W. Sussex. IDK if this still exists or whether it fell victim to one of the recessions which have occurred since if the covid closure became a permanent closure.

@MusntGrumble
@MusntGrumble 3 ай бұрын
@@TrekkingExploration that's the right location, think that building was linked to railway, but been privately owned for many years.. The station was on the opposite side facing ASDA. Same design but built with stone.
