A person put thought and care into this ship. This is the type of person that deserves to work on shows.

Now, this is a thought-out ship. The level of detail involved here, the class name details, the details of the fighters alone is impressive. I was never a fan of the whole multi-vector thing but, he actually makes sense of it. Fighters in the Trek universe are a tricky thing.
@KnowTrentTimoy3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. A great ship indeed. I still don't understand having fighters in the Star Trek universe. They're useless in an actual battle with large enemy starships. It's a one-way mission if you ever thought of signing up for this duty (no thanks). Roundabout ships are a little different but even after a few minor encounters with powerful enemy starships you were a goner.

It makes absolutely no sense at all, I could go in to it but I made a comment that summarises above look for that, this concept is retarded at best FFS it's so stupid it's laughable and you said it was well though out 🤣😂🤣 I challenge any part you think is well though through, tell me here and I'll explain just how stupid and obviously flawed it is and I bet I do it easily 🤣🤣

This is by far the best quad engined ship when it comes to proportion and design integration of the engines. Better than Prometheus and better than stargazer; it's done in a much more elegant and organic manner. Very often four engines seem crowded but on this ship they are beautifully spaced and look very natural. Absolutely beautiful ship and the animations are _absolutely stunning_!!! That's a fantastic ship. I've thought about what an Odyssey based STO era dreadnought would be like for some time now, but my vision was more along the lines of the Galaxy X, i.e. saucer sep (not multi-vector assault mode), two of the phaser lance cannons instead of one (one branching on to the saucer from each neck), and a phase shifting cloak, yet mine would still have four engine nacelles. Anyways, the Theurgy's a very well thought out, detailed design that I agree would make an awesome hero ship, my props to the designer!

This is the kind of thing i want to see from a new Star Trek Series that is placed post Nemesis. None of the pieces are particularly unique or special, but all parts have legacy, some place where they are inspired from and they have been moved forward to the logical next step. The combination of all that is what shows the love to the source material and that is what makes it special, even when every single piece has been there already, even the look of the Ship is just a Kitbash really, which is also Star Trek tradition and makes perfect sense.

It's nice to see some of these non-cannon ship types again. I had toyed with the idea of creating my own versions of new ship types on computer, but they never got past a few rough sketches. If there is anyone out there that would be interested in building my ships in cg I did draw full scematics for many of them and I do have the sizes plotted as well.

I've always thought that since holograms are programs run from the ship's computer a sentient hologram technically IS a sentient ship. Just inhabiting a photonic avatar rather than the hull it's conciousness actually resides in. The two biggest issues I see with fully integrating a sentient AI with the ship it inhabits are; 1) What is the status of the AI if the captain is compromised? Can the ship relive its captain if they break the prime directive? 2) What do you do with it once the ship reaches the end of its service life and needs to be decomissioned?

I always thought that Andromeda was suposed to be a Star Trek ship. The two universes have a lot of similarities and Andromeda was based on notes from Gene Rodenberry.
@cathyvickers90637 жыл бұрын
Gray Scribe Gene Roddenberry had ideas for a 2nd sci-fi series as early as the 70s. He made 3 Earth-based pilots, none of which sold. After his death, his wife used his notes to create a comic book series set on a starship, that was actually pretty good. The TV series Andromeda is, I think, the 5th take on his notes. While I agree there are some superficial similarities, the history of the Systems Commonwealth, the fate of twice-conquered Earth, & technological differences create an independent identity.

The ethics around decommissioning a ship with a Soong-style brain at its core would be fascinating - does she get a new body? Would it be ethical to force her to take a new body, be it a ship or humanoid form factor? Or, do you force her to take an upgrade she really doesn't want? It's like the sequel to Measure of a Man.
@silmarian7 жыл бұрын
Also, what happens if she decides she doesn't want to be in Starfleet?
@MrSheckstr7 жыл бұрын
silmarian it's a bit off topic but I always thought it would be cool if post ST:Nemesis we found out that Commander Data was under special orders from Star Fleet intelligence to back up his memory and personality to a restricted section of one of the Enterprise E computer Core and then he was eventually revived as an AI hologram

She's like a Ship in the Anne Mccaffery series in that she is distinct from the physical ship - so yeah they could take her out and put her in another ship or even just install the brain in her avatar - if the brain is normal size.

Really love this ship design. But what happens if any of the external hulls are damaged from battle while separated? One or more of the separate hulls would likely not be able to rejoin until the external damage is repaired. And depending on the tight tolerances allowable when rejoining, the damage can be something very minor (like a 'car dent').

Theurgy: has a positronic brain What I assume the correct response is: “this brings up a plethora on the ethics of having sentient ships, mainly relating to personhood and self determination. Ships are categorically possessions, be it by the military or otherwise, tools to be used as their possessors see fit. What would happen if the ship didn’t agree with certain orders given to them, or with being a part of the military entirely? I doubt starfleet would simply allow an entire starship to retire and write a holonovel or tend a grape field, would they fore the ship back into service against their will and without their consent? Would they outright lobotomize the ship, in essence murdering a sapient being in order to puppeteer it’s corpse? Th-“ Me: “Star Trek has ship girls now lol”

I never understood why the Federation dismissed kinetic weapons like railguns, since physical attacks like ramming Jem Hadar bug-ships turned out to be so efficient and also the Borg's abilities to cope with energy weapons would have made kinetic guns absolutely crucial. I feel like it totally would have made sense to build a big railgun onto all of the warships as an initial charge gun in battles... But then again I never understood a lot of things about the tactical decisions of the Federation... Without Section 31 the Federation would have been doomed to failure.
