the Enterprise ships were great. The Andorians were my favorite people

One of the better starship designs in all of Star Trek in my opinion.

Remember that in the pitched battle against the Vulcan fleet, the Andorians were able to hold their own against the Vulcans while outnumbered two to one, forcing a stalemate before Vulcan High Command eventually decided to call off the invasion. Those are beefy ships, they don't need to be large to be powerful. Enterprise is an explorer, after all. These are warships.

I always like that design. Fast, aggressive, real warship.

The Kumari is great and it really suits the Andorians and Captain Shran
@toddsmitts8 жыл бұрын
Bigger doesn't necessarily mean stronger. We of course saw the Connie Defiant blast and Andorian ship and a Vulcan D'Kyr with ease. The DS9 Defiant was one shot away from destroying the much larger Excelsior class Lakota in "Paradise Lost". The Enterprise-D could've destroyed the huge Lysian command center with one torpedo in "Conundrum". And the Kumari itself was destroyed by a Romulan drone, which was a much, much smaller ship, from what I've read.

bigger is sometimes better, V'EGR, the Borg TAC cube, and the Dinosaur city ship from voyager.

The Andorian ship introduced in Enterprise might be a bit generic...but I *do* like how Cryptic took the basic Andorian design philosophy established in Enterprise and "Trek-ified" it (is that a word?) for Star Trek Online. The 25th Century Kumari, and its variants, are pretty awesome ships.

There is every reason to put photon tubes at the front of the ship. 1-expedite departure. 2. To expedite attack. (Since a ship has to approach it' prey no additional maneuvers to reach optimum attack posture. 3. The Forard arc is the narrowest serves as defensively harder to hit. 4. Armament can be clustered for Alpha Strikers and Time-on Target-Strikes

Torp turrets even better, but rare in Star Trek.

Torpedoes are like guided missiles (according to the tech manuals, anyway) - it doesn't matter which way they're fired as they can change course and hit anyway.

It's a pre-Federation alien ship ... of course you want it to look different compared to a human/Federation ship. It's fine, it gives the impression of a powerful no nonsense war ship.

Please don't talk about real world military designs and relate it to style or it representing humans. They are built the way they are for function. When a aircraft manufacturer designs a craft for trials to the USAF or Navy/Marine Corps they do it to meet the requirements listed and to win the contract. They don't ask does this let folks know this is a Boeing/McDonnell Douglas design etc. So even though artists and then the producers have to sign off on ship designs for the shows it should be looked at the ships are manufactured for function not aesthetics. In my opinion.

Although it does have a design that reminds me of other sci fi ships that is kinda why I like it. The nose reminds me of the I.A.S Excalibur from Babylon 5. A ship I love. I also find it interesting that the Kumari has this kind of split shell look with the top and bottom of the main hull makes it look like it could have had the ability to "clamp down" in a fight. Then opening when not in danger for better sensor readings or something. Doesn't seem to be the case but it has that look.

I'm guessing the deflector is inside the orb-like shape located on the top of the ship, in front of the engineering/engine section. In the fan model it's a big glowy-thing. And if you can put a radar dish in a dome, why couldn't you put a deflector dish in one? I don't see any reason.

This is one of my favorite ships , I loved it in ENT and I use it all the time on STOnline, its a very powerful warship when outfitted well. the only tactical ship I like better than this one is the Jem Hadar Attack Ship. (I know there are science and engineering variatiions of this ship in STO but since there are so many better ships for engine or science officers to use, any version of this ship should be used as a tactical escort IMO).

I've always liked this design, to me its the opposite of what Mr Foley said, it reeks of Andorian culture, tough, purposeful, sharp. I always liked to think that their ice breaker ships that Shran mentions from their history were similarly sharp and pointy. Great ep though.

Perhaps the rear parts create the warp-bubble that allow the two nacelles to function independently from each other (As the ship break the 'line of sight' rule otherwise). Also, on the STO version(s), the wing-tip arrays are specialized heavy phaser cannon ("Wing Cannons"). Links to the STO wiki pages for the ships (its a set of 3 variants): 1) sto.gamepedia.com/Andorian_Kumari_Escort 2) sto.gamepedia.com/Andorian_Khyzon_Escort 3) sto.gamepedia.com/Andorian_Charal_Escort Oh! I do not like this ship. I loathe how this proves absolutely nothing was taken from the alien cultures’ designs which are part of the Federation for the Constitution-class. 23:35 That does not feel right. The D7 is smaller and less armed than an Andorian ship?

Andorian Phasers was more powerful then the Starfleet Phasers but still the starfleet neglected it.

Perhaps the Andorrans don’t think of their antennas are their representation. Perhaps an Arsenal with engines speaks more in their view?
@theMaDNesS2017 жыл бұрын
is it possible, and I don't know if anyone else has said this, but could those be the bussard collectors on the back of the ship? The blowing blue bits, I mean just because other ships have them on the front of their nacelles doesn't mean that different races that came up with warp in different ways do it the same way. I think that we are all a bit brainwashed in the fact that this is the way we have seen things for so long that we believe it has to be this way

Dude, they don't have to look Trekkie cuz it's a new ship from a new species. It could look like a blob and it could still be in Star Trek. You see alien ships are gonna come in all shapes and sizes and they don't have to all look "star trekkie".

Honestly...annoyed with the default "It doesn't seem STAR TREK" "ridicule". As usual not EVERY alien ship HAS to obey the "rules" of the Federation design, if that were to happen then I would not have loved most alien ships that are different from the Federation. Also if the Kumari was of a different design I wouldn't have loved or even liked it as I do with the FINAL version, that design Stuart "prefers" to the final makes me think it's a combo of a reversed Xindi Insectoid ship with the rear of the particle collector that the Son'a used in Insurrection, either way I don't see how that ship would look better than the Kumari...I can't think of anything constructive as to why I don't like the ship Sam chose, and no need to ridicule the other one as that was pointed out.
@NovaScotiaNewfie7 жыл бұрын
Captain Lokiawa and not all classes of Starfleet ships have to look alike. Sometimes function means you make something different looking like stealth aircraft and ships. To deflect radar you have to use sharp edges, by that notion the B2 bomber and F-117 (retired) do not look like other USAF aircraft. Nor does the US Navy stealth vessels.
