Temporal Transporters would let you bean through the gaps in a ship's shield pulses. Or, possibly, to the area in spacetime where there wasn't a ship there, then to when there was.

It makes sense that the Relativity would be rather small. It's a very specialized as opposed to a multi-mission ship, meant to preform a single function, police the timeline, and coupled with increased miniaturization of technology along increased automation reducing crew size.

Ok guys, when you said that 'G' does not make sense considering this is supposedly the eighth ship to bear the name "Relativity', I immediately knew that you forgot something important about Star Trek. Here is what I figured out, and when you read it you just might understand: Since it is the eighth ship to bear the name 'Relativity', you need to think about the naming conventions of Starfleet in the Star Trek Universe. Take 'Enterprise' as an example; and I'm not including the NX-01, only NCC-1701. The first of those was just NCC-170. "No bloody A, B, C, or D!" as Scotty famously said in his appearance in TNG. All subsequent ships bearing the name and the number were given letters that followed the number; hence 'Enterprise 1701-A' was a renamed and refitted Constitution class ship that replaced the 'Enterprise NCC-1701'. All ship bearing the name after that also bore the next letter in the suffix of the number '1701'. Likewise, the 'Relativity' would follow the same Starfleet naming convention, with the first to bear the name having no letter designation; thusly the 'Relativity NCV-474439-G' would be the eighth ship to bear the name. The number of the ship will be one more than the letter designation's numeric alphabetical position Hopefully you can now understand. Cheers!

Perhaps the dedication plaque on the Relativity says that quote was from EM Rauch because it is from a timestream where Rauch said it. Something happened to the timestream, and now Einstein says that quote, and it was just not worth repairing the timestream for reasons.

I agree with the captain, I think the holomatrix is more advanced than a simple holodeck because the holograms inside the holodeck are nothing more than photons and forcefields, in otherwords, hyper realistic and interactive 3D projects...but remember the Voyager episode "hope and fear", and how The Dauntless didnt use holograms..but particle synthisis instead. I think thats the holomatrix works, actually creating and/or reprogramning the atoms in the room to become whatever temporal location was scaned.

Maybe, probably more based on really theory that if we slam photons together just right they will make electrons...add in build shield/deflector tech to keep them in place Oh wait forgot about this one being upgraded...you're probably right on this one. Old one electrons, this one matter

I think the smaller size of the Relativity makes sense, a number of missions wont require the ship, just its ability to send people back through time and retrieve them again. With the level of automation there must be, a small, more specialised mission focused crew seems logical. You have to wonder why a ship would be required in some circumstances, as they can scan all time and space a temporal starbase or two may be cheaper than a mobile platform. From a cost point of view, maybe there are a number of bases and just a few mobile starships for missions requiring them may be a way to go.

Temporal warp core? So what if you create a small burst of energy, then use that energy to create a small jump back in time inside the core, which basically means the burst happens over and over and over infinitely, then use what ever left over energy to power the ship?

Should've had 3D controls! Remember that DS9 episode where the crew brings the Defiant out of mothballs to help Jake save his dad? Point being, it would've made sense if the Relativity had that technology which seemed to exist centuries ago.

agreed with everything you said - the ship looks beautiful and enigmatic - however the interior wasn't up to the same standard, the interior designers had kept everything familiar and recognisable - the desks/TCARs displays, workstations and transporter pads within the bridge module - replicating the same layouts from ENT to TOS to TNG & VOY. You'd expect walking into a ship from the 29th Century would have been bewildering, with (to our eyes) an unintelligible - almost magical? - command/control interface - such that we'd never be able to guess at how to operate it - as if the captain of a medieval warship walked onto the bridge of nuclear submarine .

i always thought the holomatrix worked like a tardis in that it's confined within a small space but projects as much volume as needed for whatever simulation is appropriate. These things could be inside a small closet and would make sense given the size of the ship. Plus we already saw that timeships had that technology in enterprise. I know it was 31st century, but there's no reason to assume that technology originated in that time.

Great Video. You asked about why the ‘USS Relativity’ didn’t deal with Nero? Nero failed to alter the timeline and instead created a new timeline. As the prime universe is unaffected by the events that occur in the JJ verse there would have been no reason for them to intervene in this situation. I am assuming that the temporal accords/prime directive would prevent them interfering with events that occur within alternate timelines. However, what I would like to know is what involvement they had, if any, in the temporal cold war. It would have been nice to have seen the ‘USS Relativity’ again in the Enterprise series.

Too bad the show was limited so much by it's budget. They basically reused the same old bridge design with the same type of consoles and all that. Super advanced 29th century timeships should have crazy holographic displays or just be linked directly to the crew's minds. Seems pretty silly that it's almost exactly the same as the primitive starships from 500 years before.

weird ship for star trek as star trek seemed to prefer ships that looked like they where incredibly impractical.
