Liberation was never intended to be an album to return to pop-radio or pop-stardom, it was meant to be a relaunch-pad for Christina Aguilera -- the artist -- who went messing for the pass 8 years (2010-2018). This is why I urge you to watch the "Liberation Tour", and not the XPERIENCE. This album makes sense live. Deserve makes sense. Maria makes sense. The cohesiveness takes presence. I'm thoroughly pleased with @xtina's "Liberation" album, because I don't have any "expectations" for her because shes so damn experimental. As a fighter, one of the best things to hope whenever a new album is on the horizon is "what genre will she play with next??" It's exciting AF. In the beginning, during the "Liberation (intro)", the sound of a child is heard --- that child's voice running....is meant to be Maria (the little girl whose passion was music), i.e., herself. She's running, chasing after herself, her passion, her reason of becoming an artist in the first place. Christina has constantly cited "Maria" from the Sound of Music as one of her inspirations as a child....feeling free singing on the hills, feeling a sense of "liberation". In 2011, Christina joined "The Voice" to be a passionate artist, but instead of building her craft, it sucked away her passion. That's what "Sick of Sittin'" made reference to (Get it, the Voice Chairs? LOL). She was tired of wasted energy, and after her 6th stint, she said she needed to be an artist again. For me, Liberation is a masterpiece. It's not a bop. It's not a pop-album, and it's not trying to be. It is what it is. A Christina Aguilera album. An album, like her, which is "in a league of its own".

Liberation had a huge potencial, like i do, pipe, right moves, deseve...all great songs that went unnoticed due to the lack of promotion by xtina, and this is a constant since Bionic...i hope her new album gets as much attention as possible

This album is an apology to herself after putting out lotus ( not a genuine and honest album, chart chasing, loosing weight after being bullied by the media, keeping herself stagnant by being on the voice, loosing touch with herself after years of neglecting self expression) and a journey to find the purity and joy in making music and being secure within herself

completely agree this is one of her best albums, the most consistent and with great production. "accelerate" was so hated when it came out, the video didn't help either which i think hurt the reception of the album and the other singles. she didn't do promo as well, never performed this song on tv, or an award show. also a solo version of "fall in line" leaked months before the official release.

Great reaction. Loved the point you made about Unless It's With You. A bit of context about Maria. It's Xtina's middle name as you said. Also it's the name of Julie Andrews character in The Sound of Music, and that movie and soundtrack was part of Xtina's early inspirations to sing. So searching for Maria is searching for her inner child and her pure and core passion for singing, reconnecting with her most true self. Check out her album trailer for Luberation. There's no professional recording of the Liberation tour, but to me it was her strongest, it's worth checking some videos. Her performances of Twice just took it to another level.

Nice reaction! I'd say Masochist goes perfectly with the theme of the album, since it is about being vulnerable and admitting some harsh truths to herself, but the placement in the album is kinda dicey. Maybe it should be closer to Deserve and Twice, two perfect songs that carry the same emotional weight. Also, look for the X-perience and X-tour performances, some of the things she does during the Twice endings are.... no words can do them justice.

Arguably my favorite album she’s done it’s a photo finish between Liberation and Stripped. This is the Christina I’ve been waiting for since Stripped actually. She was deep in her bag with this album: top tier production, vocals, delivery 🤌 Maria and Sick of Sitting needed videos/ the single treatment; I think it would have made all the difference in the world success wise. ☹️ Nevertheless this album was literally a masterpiece.

Great video but I do think you’re being a bit too literal and over analyzing every single song. Although the album is called “liberation” I don’t think every single track second for second had to be about be about being liberated. Sometimes songs just fit the vibe of the album so they put them on there.
