Its Amazing what a little hard work people can accomplish even with a limited budget. They just go lazier with the CGI in later films, after the 4th they no longer used practical effects it was full CGI at least 3 and 4 had a mixture of both.

I like the fact that this is a series where characters learn to stay out of danger. Val got hitched and refused to do a dumbshit thing like fighting Graboid's again and Earl only did it because he didn't have much to lose. Character's have one movie then refuse to do this stuff again. All except Burt, who lives for danger. He's a modern day dragon slayer, and Graboid's are his dragon.

Tremors 3 takes you back to Perfection where it all started. It's not as good as the first 2 but it's a fun watch. Be prepared for more new surprises. Also a couple of original characters show up but Burt becomes the main character from here on out. 4 is a prequel that takes you back in time to when Perfection was established. The rest are ok but nothing great but still fun to watch.

I enjoy different aspects of most of these movies including the sequels (EXCEPT for #6- that one didn't do anything for me lol). It might be because I watched Tremors 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 over and over while I was job hunting for online jobs at the start of the pandemic, and so many aspects of each of those movies reminded me of my endeavor. For example during Tremors 2 here, the "fishing / trolling" for graboids reminded me of my job-hunting / applying process. During the scene when they had just gotten stuck on the rock with their truck and they saw a LOT of graboids coming at them all at once, that reminded me of one time when I had an equal number of interviews coming at me from all angles LOL :P

Not sure why Reba wasn't in it (was she doing her sitcom at the time?) But Bacon, I think the problem was (as I stated in my own post) they waited too long. If they had made this in 1991 or 1992 they'd probably have a better chance of landing Bacon but by this point he was already becoming a more "respected" actor (and he deserved to be) and his schedule and price range were beyond doing a Tremors sequel. Their presence certainly would've helped.

The early scene where they talk about not being able to recruit Val makes me wonder if that was an in-joke about not being able to get Kevin Beacon back, or if they always intended to not have him return. Fun fact about the rattlesnakes its also why their also called "Pit Vipers" because they belong to a family of snakes that have heat-sensing glands (pits) located on either side of the triangle-shaped head.

Fred Ward is always great fun and turns any movie he's in into pure gold. He's one of the most unsung Hollywood actors. Basically a character actor with star potential. I first saw him in Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins (Remo: Unarmed and Dangerous in the UK, which I think was a cooler title). He took the lead role. That movie was a lot of fun. He was also in Escape From Alcatraz with Clint Eastwood and The Naked Gun 33 1/3. If you like Fred Ward, you should really check out those movies.

I love how this takes Tremors in a different way from the first one, kind of like how Alien/Aliens 2 and Terminator/Terminator 2 all took what existed and then shifted the style while retaining the entertainment value.
@blechtic

They kind of have to, since the first one in these is about discovery and demystification. You can't really play that card in the sequel even if you change stuff, because the characters already have some kind of idea. It was one of the most impactful periods in their lives, so they'd have some kind of a reference point. They wouldn't be as surprised. The same goes for the audience. Compare to Police Academy, which is just humour. They could play the same idea over and over again, except that they kept running out of jokes and had to recycle them and then had to change other things to make it seem fresh. Too bad they couldn't really write enough new jokes and think outside the box, since that's what really killed that series. The characters don't get that stale if they can keep bringing out new jokes besides a bit of something new.

Tremors 3 and 4 are decent and after that they being to get not too good in my opinion. Tremors 3 brings back most of the original cast from the first movie and the 4 Tremors is more or less a prequel. Burt is the one I have seen in each tremors movie I have seen. After movie 4 they seemingly go down hill in my personal opinion.

So glad you guys reacted to this. So many people stop after the first Tremors. Yours is one of the only few Tremors 2 reactions out there. I've always enjoyed it just about as much as part 1. Tremors 3 is ok, then after that... they get kinda CGI crazy. I think there's 8 films (mostly starring Burt with a few Perfection character cameos).

I only remember 7 films. But I actually enjoy different aspects of most of these movies including the sequels (EXCEPT for #6- that one didn't do anything for me lol).

This movie was supposed to be in theaters, but the studio wasn't confident in it, so the budget got cut and released straight to video. I think that's the reason for the smaller cast and the rather distracting CGI. The location was also changed from the Australian outback to Mexico. In my opinion 3 and 4 are just as good as this one, and I'm a little surprised to hear some people don't like them.

31:20 All snakes can see heat and will attack or defend themselves against warm-blooded creatures, it is also how they locate their food, their eyes are very primitive and can only register basic shapes but their cheeks are pitted with holes known as "heat pits" that let them build up an image in front of them of what is warm and what is cold. This is why owners of snakes have to warm their food, they won't eat anything they can't see.

I think the graboids came across a smarter in the first one because there were more than one in the same areas they could watch how the other ones died or they might get distracted with a trick once but weren't killed so then they figured out it was a trick for the next time. Whereas in this one their first encounter with the people they get killed if there's no one else around to learn from it you can use the same trick again. I recommend the first four movies
