Hey everybody, thanks for watching the new video, I hope you are all safe and in good health during everything that has been going on. If you haven't seen any of these before, the entire series is currently streaming on Netflix US and could provide some good entertainment for those who are staying inside for the foreseeable future. Thanks, and I hope you all stay well and have a good upcoming weekend.

Honestly, though. As popular as sci-fi horror games have been over the past decade, I'm legitimately shocked that no one has ever thought to make an Alien Isolation style horror game set in the Tremors universe. Where you're trapped in some area with graboids, shriekers, assblasters, etc. and your only option is to run, hide, and occasionally use a show of force to scare them off for a short time as you fight to survive. Hell, they've even done very similar segments in the Resident Evil remakes where you're forced to run away from Mr. X and Nemesis. I think that sort of gameplay would work *perfectly* for a Tremors game. Alas, if they haven't picked it up at this point, I'm doubtful they'll ever do so.

@@herpydepth1204 that would be pretty cool, starting completely unaware of just how much danger you're really in, and as you progress in the game you have to take the survival skills you've learned to stand against the graboids survive and get out alive. I mean yeah, but when people understand the "unknown horror" they tend to slaughter it and\or make as much money as they can off of it. IDK you couldn't just make the same Tremors movie the same way over and over. I do like how they changed it up a little bit with every movie. But five and six are definitely not about the monster anymore, but about Burt. It's a horror movie, but it's a character driven movie is what it is.

Couldn't agree more, It was a privilege to introduce them to some of my Dnd players by having them come across an isolated pocket of Graboids deep in the Underdark. They ended up using their young dragon ally to trick one into bursting from the ground then used fireball down its throat. Little did my players know however that the 5 remaining outside the 3 they killed backed off due to the threat. When the party had to travel back through that area, later on, we almost had 3 player deaths and they lost all but one of their important NPC's they were supposed to return with.

pretty much the only good films are the 1st 4th and last place as honorable mention is the 3rd, and the original series that sadly got cancelled everything else is like a horrid fever dream we wish had never existed, and it's a shame the new series they tried doing got dropped because it clearly showed genuine potential to reignite the fire that burned in the 1st and 4th films

14:55 I would argue that the initial montage of killing them is made exactly to make you feel like there's no threat. Then as you think you found your footing and start to relax, they flip the scipt on you and suddenly the threat is completely different. You compared the movie to Aliens, and it's a very valid comparison on this point as well. In Aliens, instead of a crew of workers without military training, they go to the planet with a full team of marines. If they had done a single alien like in the first one, it would have died in five minutes. In Aliens they used numbers to make up for it, in Tremors 2 they changed the monster.
@MrStath1986
@MrStath1986 4 жыл бұрын
I think that's the point Zane makes but doesn't specifically word it as such; that it's a little disappointing these creatures that were super difficult to kill previously are now reduced to the point of farce, but that it's then highly satisfying to have the Shriekers introduced as they help flip the script and make the finale work as well as it does.

I'd watch that. The only problem is that really low budget movies in urban settings tend to feel really empty due to not being able to afford the ridiculous amount of extras that you'd really need to make an urban setting feel properly alive. For an example, think of Sharknado (which seems like a very appropriate comparison). It seems like the only people in whatever large city they're in (I can't remember which one it is) is the central cast and occasionally 2-5 extras as shark fodder (chum?). It makes sense the longer the disaster goes on but it makes the movie feel so empty and lifeless. I would just hate to see that happen to yet another cool premise for a campy B-horror movie.

Thanks for making this video because I'd written off the series after 3 and I'm pretty excited to check out 4 now. But all the others after don't really interest me. I like when movies can make their monsters more animal like than just monsters and all the different forms, to me, are just blegh. That yet-to-be released series is doing the right thing, imo, by dropping anything after the first movie. But after you mentioned video games, I sooooo want a Tremors based game now that's focused on terrain navigation and occasional skirmishes, I'd hate it to be just like the mid-late series Resident Evil games that are just gory shoot em ups.

Loved the Tremors series up until 5. Jamie Kennedy and his character felt like a charisma blackhole. There was absolutely nothing likeable about him from start to finish, and killed my enthusiasm for the series hard after that. Which is a shame cause I was looking forward to seeing the movies continue until I Forced myself to watch 5.

the level of misogynistic his character had kind of made me wish he was eaten pretty quickly, at least despite his shit personality it would give burt gummer more reason to be so aggressive against them vs how in the past films he actually respected the graboids, I mean Burt feared them but still respected them. Having done something like that would have made for a better pace and reasoning along the lines of " you killed my family yes he was a dick but family so now I'm taking out yours."

Great Video mate, Love part 1 & 2. Just gotta say though I'd have to disagree on the racism on the first 2 films (not gonna get into the others as I dont care for them lol) The first movie almost all deaths are white people, Edgar, Old Fred, The Dr and his Wife, Nester, and the 2 Workers (maybe one of them was ethnic) and Chang was the only non white to die. As for the 2nd Movie you say there is only 3 Mexicans and they all die, given the core cast is only 4 people they were obviously the ones that are gonna die, the only character that could of been Mexican and survived was the Female lead. So all in all I wouldn't call any of that racism. One more point, I feel maybe you were saying something about sexism in the early movies (if not disregard this ;) ) The first movie Heather you could almost say is the strongest character in the movie as she even saves Burt from been Eaten, and Ronda is clearly the Smartest in the movie and comes up with most the good ideas that saves most the cast. As for the 2nd Movie, The Female Lead is also the Smartest character in the movie again, and as there is no real Macho stuff in the 2nd movie I'd say she is just as strong as the rest of the cast. Again just putting in my 2 cents as I've watched these movies since the early 90s. Also Definitely glad Jamie Kennedy is out of the 7th film, here's hoping they can get it right. Great Video Again mate :)

Yeah, let's shoehorn our woke bullshit into what's supposed to be a fun, semi-mindless throwback to B-movies. He got it right when he said: "It's schlocky action that you're not supposed to think about that hard". But making everything about this stuff is how you get your cred and self-importance these days, I suppose. While his content is generally good, this is pretty is pretty common for him, and it's always distracting, annoying, and forced.

Not to mention the second movie was set in Mexico on a Mexican oil company's fields so the vast majority of people present on site who work there will be Hispanic and thus the majority to die.
@alejandrovasquez8527

Y'all seem to be missing the point that the minority characters count for a small percentage of the cast, so each death shrinks the percentage even further. Mr. Chang gets one of several deaths in the first movie, but he and Miguel are the movie's only nonwhite folks.

I agree with and share your assessment and dislike of jamie kennedy, he is an extremely unlikable, stupid, and obnoxious character that weighs the franchise down tremendously while not bringing anything new to it. I was always hoping that they would have brought Grady from the second movie in to the franchise more, he was likeable and a pleasant addition to the characters. As for your comments on racism in the franchise, I completely disagree with that. The Tremors franchise has never been racist. That is a shallow and current year label to stick on any film if a character that isn't white dies. I hear a lot of reviewers use that argument because it is so easy to make and virtue signal. In every Tremors film, be they weak or strong, bad or good, characters die because of the story. You can say that the scripts were weak and formulaic, you can ever say that they were just plain "phoned in". Racism is a very strong allegation to make, even if it is thrown around so lightly now a days, it is totally off base when it comes to the Tremors Franchise.

The first two films had such an impact on me growing up - in my mind, they were up there near monster film franchises with far more mainstream recognition such as Alien and Predator. I revisit them now and, while I obviously view them a bit differently, I still find them a ton of fun. After three, which I really didn't like even as a kid, I was never interested in another Tremors film. However after watching your anatomy video, I might just give four a go - We'll see. :)

I love Jamie Kennedy in 5 and 6, with 5 being probably my favorite movie. I love Burt Gummer, and I compare Tremors to Evil Dead, which started out as pure horror, and then proceeded into horror comedy and finally action comedy, with the Deadites in Ash vs Evil Dead being largely minor inconveniences for Ash, much like how the Graboids are for Burt.

I've waited years for a venue to emerge where I could post this comment. The original movie was a masterpiece in every way. Very damn funny. But all of the sequels were lackadaisical at best - barely watchable. Why? Because Hollywood got it all wrong when they tried to build on the success of the original film. Hollywood has a long and storied history of movie series. For example - see the Crosby/Hope "Road" canon. The great mistake the movie moguls made with "Tremors" was to imagine that the critical element in the story was the big underground worms. It wasn't. It was the two lead characters. What they should have done is make a sequel(s) about the adventures of these two guys who kept running into weird monsters. What they did was miss the boat - badly. It would have been as if after "The Road to Zanzibar" (the first Road picture) they had made The Flight to Zanzibar and the Passage to Zanzibar but with other actors like Monty Woolley or Clark Gable. The appeal of the picture was the characters not the special effects.

Fantastic review. I personally love all the movies and show. While the quality varies from film to film....at least there is quality there. It's not like the Puppet Master Series that is seriously just on death's door and somehow freaking keeps getting more and more movies done of it. If the series really wants a shot in the arm, they just need to get Bacon or Ward to come back. That is the shot in the arm the franchise will need if it is to continue.
