i never really look at the comments for vids and i don't use twitter, so it was kind of a shock to hear that people hated that HHE vid. i remember watching it like hours after it dropped, and i thought it was a really interesting perspective on the film and gave me more to think about that sceenwriter and his other films. i never got the take away that you were racist or liked cannibalism r something. I hope the hatred that has seeped from that video and the people who misconstrued your views on things don't get to you. I really love your content and your general character/ beliefs, so it honestly hurt to hear that you had gone through all of that. from one stranger to another, i truely hope that things get better and ur able to find peace

First not everybody shares the same spiritual and Folk beliefs not everybody's going to compensate for your beliefs. Wendigo is something considered Folk or mythology so let's say I want to use the name a folk creature or figure of Mythology in my username. It's not that different from people putting Hades or Cyclops in their username.

If you’re going to go after someone for allergy having caused the deaths of people, deeming them a racist, and insinuate that they are so privileged they don’t get to have an opinion on art, say it with your whole chest without hiding it tacked on to a video with an unrelated title. Why do people care what gender the staff of a movie's creation is? I mean this on both sides, complaining about all-women or all-men staff. I grew up with most of the movies and shows I watched being created by men and most of the books I've read been created by men, not once did it bother me or any other girl I was around watching the same movies and reading the same books that they are being created by men because the books and movies and television were all good. And yes, a lot of them did touch on things related to the female experience growing up. And yet it was all still was good and well written, unless it wasn't, but I was pretty good at avoiding trash, because good storytelling and cinematography is not limited by, in this case, superficial structures of the natural world being, in this case, gender. The couple of female created works I did indulge in were well-written too and they were often made through and with the perspective of men or young boys. As anecdotal as this is, my purpose only being to dispel the confusing notion that gender has anything to do with how well you receive a story or create it, it just kind of feels like common sense that any smart person and skilled creator can write any story about anything if they venture to do so. Well, at least it's common sense to anyone who's inclined towards literature and filmmaking, and generally any type of artistic creation and creative production. And it's not like set design or anything is a small role women or anyone can play in creating a film, but okay, buddy, let's continue to undermine people on the basis of their gender and pass it off as introspective criticism of sexual discrimination.

Early-in-video thought: I'm not sure I think the divide is so much liberal/conservative, just that people who insist on "dumb fun" horror are usually also not the best at critical thinking or subtext and therefore also skew conservative. I know people who are most definitely NOT conservative, but like mindless slashers far more than artsy, subtle, or thoughtful works, and also know people who are very, very conservative but despise anything that isn't ten layers deep psychological horror. I may just be someone who knows a lot of exceptions to this rule, but I do think it's more of a "media literacy" overlap than a political leaning one.

The Wendigoon portion is really unhinged, I thought it was just gonna be simply “I don’t like his videos” but I was shocked that he seems to be attacking his character insinuating that he’s a full blown Nazi. I usually LOVE you vids man but the ending of this video rubbed me the wrong way. Also, insinuating that all deep Appalachians are just “inherently racist”, fuck off, man. i enjoy your videos and analysis, especially the unabashed leftism of them, and had no idea about this drama, and it 100% is frustrating from bad faith arguments and people mischaracterizing you, something i've had a taste of before - but as someone who is probably coming into this video with the most positive perspective imaginable, i must say that this video is bloated and focusing so much on drama is not a good look and won't really endear people negative to you let alone those neutral or downright fans of you. i'm not saying to not address the drama or that you're wrong for feeling like shit, but it just comes across as desperate when you read a wall of comments for about five minutes and continue to analyze this making up the bulk for the first third of the video. it optically doesn't look great (which is a frustratingly sterile way to view creation, but in the youtube space something you unfortunately have to consider) and doesn't make for enjoyable watching. i thought your horror comics video, which was also long, wasn't bloated and that every minute had intriguing information, but in contrast this video feels like you walking in circles and thinking that this is conductive to a good defense, which is hardly ever the truth. from the title, i was intrigued to hear your thoughts on... well, Bad Conservative Horror Movies, and am still watching and eagerly waiting to reach this analysis, but the first at minimum hour is a bit of a turnoff. you're one of my favorite channels, but longer isn't always better, especially for something like drama which is often exhausting for all parties involved, especially the viewer. tl;dr it feels like corncobbing and all you really had to say was "people are not actually watching my video and spreading a bad-faith take". you could go a bit more in depth, but i don't see any reason to spend more than like. ten minutes on this. i am sorry that that happened and i hope you can get back to making great content and that the latter half of this video is what i'm looking for.
