This is a wonderful comment! I want to get into soldering, but I’m kind of in the same boat - classes are expensive and there aren’t any near where I live in the first place 🤷♀️ but because no one has taught me the proper way, I usually find some other way or use for a tool that I haven’t seen anywhere else. Now, that’s my dad coming through. He’s the master of “well, I don’t have that tool, so what can I do to make it work?” Thanks for joining me! 🤗💚✨🧡

@carriefoscatodesign You know, it's so funny! After I wrote this, I got out my wire to try the chain!! I made 3 inches of it but then I had to get ready for bed. Yours looks much better than mine but it's really relaxing. I love this link! ❤️

@@davidsteinfeld9123 David, you’re so welcome! I love also that there’s no soldering involved and yet is still quite sturdy. I’ve been looking into some chainmaille weaves for bracelets etc. and hope to bring some tutorials in the near future. I’ve also been fooling around with a Viking weave but haven’t fallen in love with the process yet. 😅 Thanks for watching and commenting!

Love the chain. Do you patina your copper pieces or let them age on their own?

Oh I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I just let mine patina on their own. I think it does have its place though. Happy creating! 🤗💚✨🧡

Love this! I see you use bare copper. Do you typically put a clear coat on it or just let it age? I’m starting to use copper but don’t know if I should use a clear coat on it. Thank you!
@carriefoscatodesign5 ай бұрын
I have done a lot of different things. The ring I have on jn the video on my right hand is just left as is and I like the patina it has. I’ve also used renaissance wax and like that and also something called, the name escapes me, but it’s like permaclear. It comes in a metal can and you dip it. That’s good too. I think it depends on how much you feel like dealing with🤣 The permaclear is a process but the renaissance wax is just a rub-on process. I usually go with that.

I really like the look of this chain🎉🎉 what is the size of the small end of the bail pliers you are using because its not long enough on my pliers to wrap around and connect the holes, so I'm using a longer piece of wire. So just wondering if different brands of bail pliers are different sizes around
@carriefoscatodesign19 күн бұрын
Hi! The smallest bail on my pliers measures 2mm. I’ve gotten better at relaying that info in recent videos🤗👍 Thank you so much for joining me! 🤗💚✨🧡

If you dud get carried away and make a bunch of individual links, couldn't you just join them by making a new link as you've shown?
@carriefoscatodesign6 ай бұрын
Good question! Yes, you could add a link once, but only once as a foundational link for a new chain. Imagine you’ve picked up one of your completed links that you forgot to connect, you follow the steps and add another link, you cannot then add one of the other completed links because it’s closed up. Once you’ve closed them up it would involve some undoing of your work to get it on. Possible, but too much aggravation 😁😁 I hope that makes sense. I need a video to explain! Happy creating!
@BDK06245 ай бұрын
@carriefoscatodesign: I see what you're saying. Just make more links but slide them in the little hole and close them up. No need for jump rings that way. You wouldn't have to undo the closed links, just go to step 2 and make a new link, add it to the close link, close it, etc. etc.
